    Those runners are going to be absolute stunners when they're done and made in stainless. It's amazing that you managed to get all of those bends to fit into such a narrow gap without severely restricting the flow.

    Tim, for somebody that started with a "theory" and was short the skillsets you thought to need, you've done brilliantly! At the end of this project, you will have done what a JDM tuner, Smokey, did, but his was a mega buck deal, with dry sump oil, and many very expensive custom parts. I'm thinking yours will costs less, even adding the entire cost of your 3D creator and supplies. Plus you will be able to recreate it at a bid price. Awesome!

    put the turbo beside the engine, where they'd normally be in a V engine turbo car. there'd be less lag because of the shorter piping. then run intake pipes to the front bumper side intakes so that you can put filters on them.
    bare turbos sitting low in front of the cars will ingest a bunch of dirt and debris, unless you will trailer the car and only ever run it on a clean drag strip.

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 роки тому +1

      Hey Sep! We tried and tried to make this happen but with the turbos as large as they are, and dealing with a starter motor, steering column, steering rack, oil filter etc etc it was just near impossible without maybe doing horrible log manifolds, and even then maybe no-go.
      But I do love the idea. The V angle and the narrow chassis rails just ruin that possibility. My first plan was actually something more like quad G25s down there but just no room.

      @sepg5084 4 роки тому +1

    Why not a simple log manifold? Are they not flowing enugh? Turbo Yoda loves the simplicity of them and they seem to work fine for the Skidfactory guys.

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 роки тому +1

      A log manifold is never going to produce the same power as an equal length tubular with decent runners. They function in a tight space but no good when chasing ultimate power. If you haven't realised already, simply working fine is not enough for this project. We must build this to the limit of our abilities and resources!

  • @marcuscoster6529
    @marcuscoster6529 4 роки тому

    If you had a sort of rectangle shaped collector (on the runner side), or maybe even a staggered rectangle (think vr6 cylinders), i think you could make much more "straight shot" runners where they just bend forward from the exhaust ports, and curve very slightly just to fit around each other on the collector.. No idea if there would be a real performance advantage or not at this power level, but it might take up a lot less space. All the angles would be funky/different though, it may be harder to fabricate.

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 роки тому

      It’s a valid observation. Maybe there would be a loss in flow efficiency at the collector and a reduction in the extraction effect... but the runners could possibly end up nicer. No matter though, the Hypex collector which is a requirement for this runner size only comes in the one style!

    • @marcuscoster6529
      @marcuscoster6529 4 роки тому

      @@QUICKSHIFTtv That's true, you would have to custom fab a collector.

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 роки тому

      Indeed! At which point I'd employ the CNC machine as hand making collectors is something I've done enough of in my life and I'd prefer to move on to machined or cast options. In any case, the 3D printed runners are still limited in angle options whereas with the steel, I can finely grind any angle so I assure you the real manifold will be a little more graceful than the plastic one!

    I kept expecting a cut to a shot of "the heck with this, let's keep it naturally aspirated" haha. In seriousness, you guys continue to impress. I know the interest is in the fabrication and creation of crazy ideas for you guys (Grannypants proved that), but... have you ever considered 3D printing some of the parts for these cars that are no longer available new? I'd love a set of targa brackets to store the roof in the trunk, for my wife's car. Ever seen the market on those? Ridiculous!

      Unfortunately I don’t have the printing hardware to make parts that are functional and strong. Thanks for the compliment and feedback!

    I always wonder why they add more letters to a single letter. Why is the letter z turned into more letters, zed?

    • @QUICKSHIFTtv
      @QUICKSHIFTtv  4 роки тому

      "Zee" is an entirely American invention and is not the commonly accepted English pronounciation.
      ***
      "It's not just the British that pronounce “z” as “zed”. The vast majority of the English speaking world does this. The primary exception, of course, is in the United States where “z” is pronounced “zee”. The British and others pronounce “z”, “zed”, owing to the origin of the letter “z”, the Greek letter “Zeta”"
      ***
      So it might be more appropriate to say, I always wonder why the USA cut letters out... probably to fix the fact that English is an entirely broken language I guess! Haha.

    An 1800bhp street driven Supra, in 2020, sounds completely reasonable to me, so what's the problem Shane? 🤔
    And I'm sure you could bump up the output later on, to the meet any previously unforeseen needs ..... like blowing off the odd quick Barra, LS or 2JZ powered jigger 🤣
