- Oyster's are arguably one of the best eating and most expensive seafood delicacies here along the Alabama Gulf Coast, and for good reason! In this video I take you along with me on an oystering trip and show you how these tasty boogers are caught and harvested. There is a lot of work that goes into catching oysters but so worth it when you get to bite in to one fresh off the grill or deep fried!

Dang I appreciated when another Collier video pops up!
I appreciate you keeping up!
Ed slurping down those oysters was the highlight.
I agree, it was pretty comical
no wonder they’re so spensive! hard azz work.
You got that right. If only people knew
This is cool! I’ve never actually seen this done before.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Best video yet.
There are hundreds of videos of people catching fish. How many are there of a family out working the bay.
Love it.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it
I'm bubba Gump with oysters. I love them raw and salty the best.
🤢
Guarantee you liked them "Rican" style!!
He knows how to cook some food
Dang I wish I was on that boat , I love me some oysters, I would be there with some limes and Valentina hot sauce
Ole Ed is a nut 😂
Oh yea he’s a trip!
That's was cool as heck. Man I love those salty burgers .
Glad you enjoyed it, and me too cooked!
Awesome video man! I'm trying to figure out how to get them from kayak LOL
Haha that may be alittle difficult but I’m sure it could be done
Cool video !
Thanks!
I love oysters, never went out to harvest them up here in Ct clams are the normal but I love them both .
Yep, clams and scallops are great eating
Actually watched a man turn a nice shade of green swishing a raw oyster around in his mouth. Sage green
I believe it! Lol
Taste like a salty booger- LMAO!!
Wel what I imagine a salty booger would taste like anyways 😅
That ruler on the oyster boat looks like it came off the blackjack.
Haha it does look similar
Awesome video capt. A lot of folks don’t know how oysters are harvested. Hard to beat them fresh local oysters!
Thanks! And nope , I thought it’d be cool to share the process so people will know why they cost so much
Where them reeboks at????
I got them fancy bayou rebocks
Hope to use all that sheepshead bait when i bring my kid on a herding charter with you in a few weeks 👍🏼.
I’m sure we will. I look forward to putting y’all on some goats
Love me some Oysters, fried, stewed, strangled or in a cajun gumbo ! When I was younger, I would harvest my own. Now I buy them and wow have the prices have gone up ! Great video, shows how much work goes into harvesting and processing them. Thanks !
You sounding like bubba gump all the ways you can cook and eat oysters haha but yes for sure it’s a lot of work but well worth it in the end
I always wondered how they were harvested, and that certainly make sense. Can't believe you don't like them salty boogers raw though.
Yessir that’s one of the ways to catch them. Some people also grow them in cages and harvest them that way. This way is way more work but plentiful
What a great video Brandon! ❤ that you had your mama and daddy on. Over 20 yrs spent in Long Beach Miss and I had no idea how the oysters were caught. ❤ them Rockefeller or fried for a tasty PoBoy. Learned a lot from your video. Ty Brandon, for all the work you put into these amazing videos.
Let’s go Brandon
@@mishmash9397 oh hellllll no!! Lol can't compare our Brandon to Sleepy Joe!
I grew some huge pacific oysters, they were a bit revolting to eat raw, but deep fried in a crispy batter, were delicious.
I'll get you some good NW oysters son 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️
That is so much easier than chipping them off rocks, or crawly through the mangroves to lever them off the roots, and they are nice looking oysters.
I’m sure it is, that sounds like a lot of work as well.
Sweet video Capt.! What temp is the water when you guys harvest them? Is there a general temp of the water when they are the best to harvest?
Water temp at the time of that video was probably sitting around 67-68 degrees. The season is generally open from October through December. I’m sure it’s because the water temps are lower but I’m not sure why lol
Loved the video!!! Like to see something different.. I love oysters but cant do em raw either .. we steam em with old bay on the shelks here in Myrtle Beach!
Glad you enjoyed it. You know I try and switch things up when I can haha I knew I wasn’t the only one that don’t care for em raw
Yo can I get a happy birthday
Happy birthday lol
Brings me back to the 70's up here on Long Island when great south bay was loaded with hard clams. These rakes we called tongs, and rakes were T handle pull rakes.
I’m from SC and I prefer my oysters to not be cleaned. Steam em open and have at it.
Good food, good friends, and family, it doesn’t get any better!
Couldn’t agree more 🤙🏻
Great video Capt , never seen any videos like that , kool seeing your mom & dad oystering 👍
Thanks! I thought it’d be cool to share
👍
Does your family have military history? I'm all about history ❤️. Because I am curious if you have air pilots in your family? But I also love your fishing👍👍👍 your last name, done come up on an old WW2 plane that that's still missing. The pilot had your last name...??? Any info is always good info👍 keep up the fishing I'm headed to the wa coastal rivers tomorrow for two days. I need more salmon still👍👍👍
My grandpa was a marine in the Korean War but that’s about it as far as I know. And thanks! Good luck
I was with mr potato head During Halloween call him mr clean
Haha will do. I could see that
That's what Im talking about. Hard working family there. Good stuff!
Thanks!
Died and gone to heaven!
wife didn't want any part of that stuff lol
Heck naw, she was MIA Lol
#LetsGoBrandon
MADE ME HUNGRY, and I had grilled pork chops for supper not long ago!
Reminds me of harvesting wild oysters i the LA marsh 50+ yrs ago...!
Keep doing what you love, Captain!
God bless ALL of us!
WWG1WGA
I’m sure it didn’t take long to get your oysters back then
I can't eat any seafood raw.. yuk
I don’t east much raw, but yellow fin tuna with some soy sauce is 🔥
Man I need a phone number........I want some!!!!! I'll go out and get em with ya ......ask nate about me I'm down brother
Lol I’m not going back out for them. 1 time is enough for me
@CaptCollier bhahaha yea it looks like work for sho
boogers hahahahahaha man you're missing out not having it raw. Also Potatohead is quite the genius, only shows up at the most opportune moment!
Well atleast I tried them raw. Just not a fan. And ikr?
Raking up those oysters will put hair on your chest. I'm with you brandon on the raw oysters. Fried, Grilled or floating around in a chicken and oyster gumbo they are absolutely delicious.
Yes it will. Them guys that do it every day every week are something else!
Great vid to
Glad you enjoyed it 🤙🏻
Nice one! Man I swear you look more and more like Morgan Wallen!
Haha I sure wish I could sing like him
So a question...I really don't know so I'd ask. If they take those oysters where do the new ones come from?
They grow off all those rocks and stuff we were chipping off of them, that’s why it’s required to do that so they can “regrow” every year
They looked great I'll eat them any way there fixed. Great video
Thanks, and me too other than raw!
Why bother eating them if you are going to use all that to cover the taste.. I love them raw with a little lemon juice thats it
It adds to the taste. I don’t like them raw. Obviously
Two chews and down the hatch Brandon. You need a little hot sauce or horseradish and whew boy.
I love oysters any and every way you wanna serve em.
No thanks. If they ain’t cooked I dont want em
GR8 Video Brutha! I've never seen how oysters were gathered up before. Ain't no oyster beds in North Texas.😂🤣😂🤣
Thanks! Well now ya know haha
Thanks for sharing how it's done. Grew up around them all my life, but never seen them actually harvested. I saw all of yall out there near Jemmison's. I know farming is different, but those murder point are amazing.
Anytime, I’m no expert at all that’s why I went with the people who know what they’re doing. They were very tasty
Great Job JD!!!
😂
