Simply The Best will always be an honorary anthem in Australia lol. We love Tina and this creation was something we loved more then anything. Doubled with NRL and the Broncos lol it became an iconic legend that has lasted the ages.
The Aussie rock scene back in the day was so tight knit..... everyone knew everyone else. Barnesy and Diesel were in-laws, they were mates with Farnsey - there's a story going around that when the 12th Man was recording his track 'Marvellous', they were nearby, and if you listen to the song, you can clearly hear both Farnsey and Barnesy singing on the chorus. Would like to see people reacting to Skyhooks some day....
Thanks Rick for the suggestion it was awesome still remember when this song came out and I was a kid. This song was used to promote our rugby league competition in Australia and it was so catchy.
@@Gifted1k YEPPPP! it still gives us all goosebumps even now! they had Tina for a few years (which was AMAZING) but when they got them TOGETHER we all lost our damn minds hahahha
This song was used here in Oz to promote our Rugby League (think your gridiron without the padding) The promo film clip is worth a watch for some big league moments
Mate look at the Winfield Cup promos from the early 90's in which the song featured. Paul Sironen, Mal Meninga, Ryan Girdler, Benny Elias, Paul McGregor and loads of others wearing chest/shoulder pads. Even on the premiership trophy, the Provan-Summons Trophy, as well as its predecessor- the Winfield Cup- there's a shirtless Norm Provan with four packs of Stayfree taped to his body. It would probably be more correct to describe Rugby League as vaguely reminiscent of American Football, with the most noticeable difference being that you can finish a game of footy in an hour and a half, unlike its Seppo handegg cousin, where playing four 15-minute quarters takes slightly longer than a Test Match in Cricket. Well, that and not needing an entire battalion of referees and linesman to adjudicate a game (rather, the question within Rugby League is whether or not two referees is one too many). Oh... also, a "scrum" is basically the exact opposite of what that word means.
This song by Tina Turner and Jimmy Barnes was organised by the National Rugby League (NRL) football season in 1993 for their promotional video for that years competition. The song has since been used again but with modern themes. Watch the original video which has both Tina and Jimmy and various rugby league players: ua-cam.com/video/U5a1OzPf7Ww/v-deo.html. Glad your enjoying Australian that the US has missed out on. Ozz.
Some of it is because these are people that made through grit and talent. So many bands over the years have been put together by producers that the raw side of live performances in small venues is missed out on.
I haven't heard this in ages, still sounds awesome as 🤘🎸🎶🔥🤘🎸🎶🔥 Would love to see you react to more Jimmy Barnes,he's got an incredible voice & his band cold chisel have awesome music too 🎶🔥🎸🎶🔥🎸🎶🔥🎸
This was arranged and used for our Australian Rugby League football and became an anthem for it for years, Tina loved her time here and openly said so, she was treated as the Queen she truly is and loved greatly by all Australian's she is simply the best and Barnsey well he is a legend and still is giving us music even if it virtual from his home while COVID destroyed concerts but he will be back Love from Australia, oh and try this one out mate more Cold Chisel Live ua-cam.com/video/TdVRNDnTKTU/v-deo.html
Amazing how well their voices go together.
