Students may not know how to speak a word of English when they step into Destinee Frazier’s classroom. They might not know anything about attending school in the United States, but the first thing they learn is that they are loved. The Site Teacher of the Year at Northwest Elementary immediately creates a sense of belonging for her students and families. Language is not universal, but seeing a smiling, joyful, hopeful teacher is something that resonates with all children.
