As always, thanks for sharing! I love how you’ve incorporated your original music and the map views into the final edit. I grew up near Detroit and miss Michigan…. Nothing comes close to the UP! Looking forward to your next adventure.

Just did this hike a few weeks ago for the second time. First time was 22 years ago and it was very different this time around with all of the parking access. A lot more people and most of them were day hiking. All those years ago almost none of that was there and it was much less busy. Didn’t even have to reserve a campsite. First come first serve, but there wasn’t anyone else out there for the most part. It brought back some memories from that trip as well as some new ones!

Beautiful country up there and I would gladly trade you a little bit of my Appalachian playground for some of that flat land hiking!

It's a deal lol 😊 The Appalachians will always have my heart but the UP is for sure something special. Especially the pictured rocks area. Happy hiking!

Another great video, I was up that way a month before your video hiking around Wilderness State Park…I need to make it up to the UP one day here soon, looks like a beautiful area. Michigan has to be one of the most underrated states in the US, if you ever find yourself back in Pennsylvania be sure and check out Allegheny National Forest. Where’s your next backpacking trip?

I've heard great things about allegheny national forest! I believe the NCT goes through it for quite some way too. The West Rim Trail has also been on my PA bucket list. And I agree the UP is way underrated. I guess if you don't live in MI or WI it's a bit of trip to get up there, so that could be why it has less traffic. Next hike for this spring will be the fife lake loop, but I've got at least 2 bigger trips planned for this summer/fall. Be safe out there and I hope you make it up north soon!

@@trailtakers9277 I try to make it back to Michigan every two years, next time will be the UP for sure, as for Allegheny National Forest the NCT does go through, just did a backpacking loop along it back in the fall called Minister Creek, the West Rim trail is on my list as well, so yeah get down here to Pennsylvania tons of great trails!

Love your video and music. I will be hiking Pictured Rock in May. It is my first solo 4 day hike. I am excited to get out there. I am new to backpacking. Your videos inspire me. Thank you for sharing.

You do an excellent job with your camera. Much better than when you started. I’m glad that you’re back to posting your videos.
Do you play the music on your videos?

Thanks for noticing! I try to do a little better each trip trying out new shots to make it interesting. For this video I created the music in a program, but I have played the music in some of the other ones.

We hiked it last summer. Decided to do it again this Aug. Already amped to get on trail. Mosquitoes were bad in June. Not sure what Aug will bring.

The mosquitoes were pretty mild when I went at end of August. I think maybe the overnight temps already started dropping low enough to knock some of them out. Good luck on your trip!

Hopefully the biting flies are gone by then also.

It's great to see a new video from you. It certainly is much nicer hiking the North Country Trail along Pictured Rocks compared to the High Country Pathway. 😊 Another great set of trails in Michigan are the Jordan River Pathway near East Jordan (great trail for new backpackers) and you would very much enjoy the Porcupine Mountains. Keep the videos coming! Thank you.

I always feel like the high country pathway is a good trip if you're in the mood for a challenge, but pictured rocks was more of a serene leisurely hike. With spectacular views of course 💙 I love the jordan river pathway too! It's a hidden gem in the lower peninsula. The porkies have been on my bucket list for a few years now. Any recommendations on specific trails?

@@trailtakers9277 The Manistee River Trail is a nice hike and I'm partial to the Hoist Lakes Trails by Curran. To be candid it has been years since I have been to the Porkies and only day hiked so I cannot recommend anything specific. You may want to check out the PBS program "Great Getaways" as they have done some hiking in the UP and also check out "Discovering" which is a TV program out of Marquette; they have done some backpacking as well.

Hi Acorn, I'm John 😊 . New subscriber here ! I think its awesome that you hike alone . I've been hiking alone for years . Faith over fear i say . If I cant find anyone that wants to go on adventures, I go alone . I'm watching your latest hiking adventure. The one thing that bothers me more than people littering, is people carving their names in the trees 😢. People should respect nature . But I'm excited to see you complete this hike. Folks like you inspire so many people to get outdoors and live their lives away from their computers and mobile phones. God bless you & keep you safe on your travels 🙏....

Hi John! Thanks for the sub 😊 It's good a feeling knowing you're capable backpacking alone. I enjoy going where I want, when I want, at my own pace. Agreed on people carving their names into trees though. It takes away from the experience a little bit. Best of luck in all your adventures!
