Head lamp I could use one like that.
Here you go. bit.ly/EFRTheadlamp
Hope you love it!
@@EFRT as you folks were unloading the firewood from barge I noticed the heavy duty pants y'all were wearing. Do you have a link for them by any chance? That was first video and now this is second that I've watched. This is my lifestyle and ad you know a lot of cloths do not hold up to it. I hit the sub black bell and likes if that helps you any. Best Wishes.
@@donniegombel - Thanks for subscribing! We mostly wear these pants 👍🏻

@@EFRT Just got mine delivered. Fantastic. Well worth it. Extremely bright. Long lasting and well made.
@@redrubi3942 awesome thanks for getting one. We are so glad you love it!
NIce job! This is a true act of love to make to share with family and us. Thank you! That was a major investment for your family to buy the wood, the propane, solar panels with controllers, and a whole freezer of food! Implied is that you have 2 residences: one with a garden on the mainland, the other on the island with a barge, and at least one motor boat. Add in the drone, editing equipment, cameras, and chargers. That makes a tidy sum to film the family off grid. I say that just to be clear how most people would balk at such commitment. I appreciate being privy to your adventure, your resolve to live the way of the woods and water. I am certain it will return on the investment in many ways.
Somebody needs to build a pic-nic table. This is the second video of yours I've seen & can't believe nobody learned after the plate dropped on the last one. Any kind of table & a couple of bench seats.
I was watching those plates too. Lando was a little too close 😂
From New Hampshire’s White Mountains.... Your video work is applauding. I can only imagine the hours spent seeking the right project to highlight, finding the moment to shoot footage, the lighting and background, the hours of editing when you’d rather be working on winter prep, or may I dare say, simply enjoying yourself. Your imagination....setting the calming scene of the trees and water at the beginning, focus manipulation....then the splicing of all scenes together, finding the perfect music to coincide. So well done. All your videos, past and present, are so well presented.
My wife and I truly appreciate your time, energy, and commitment bringing such a calming time into our home every Sunday.
Thank you for what you do~ for us, the viewers.
Lando is pure Glamour💓, your videos are an excellent source of knowledge, as I come from a warm country, having little clue of all the needed preparation for the cold season with all its winter gadgets that didn't even know existed. Well done, as always 🙂.
Winter is my favorite time of the year and living in New England gives us the four seasons, which are a blessing for everyone who enjoys one season over another. I appreciate the preparations that go into getting ready for winter. We have our list with getting wood, stacking it, having our wood stove and fire place cleaned, getting oil for the furnace which also needs a yearly cleaning, getting the septic tank emptied, getting the pantry prepped and switching out summer blankets for warmer winter blankets. Love watching your videos. Thanking for giving us a peek into your routine. Getting excited as the last of the leaves fall off our oaks and the days have gotten shorter.
You’re wonderful people - a beautiful family - wholesome and prayerful. God bless you all and thank you for sharing your lives in that amazing place.
From NZ. HOW LUCKY YOU GUYS ARE. BEAUTIFUL LOOKING PLACE FOR A BREAK. STAY SAFE. ❤️
I envy your family so nice to see a close family! I’d love to spend the winter off grid! Stay safe god bless!
Being fully prepared for winter is one of the best feelings…… I’m snuggled in, in Northern Ontario (Canada) right now and enjoying your content….. you’re a Blessed family ❤️
I haven’t seen one of your videos that I wasn’t blown away by. As a person of faith I really appreciate your obvious faith and blessing your meals but not making it a focus of the video. Also appreciate all of you and the genuine curiosity you show about others and without editorializing about them. You just seem like such neat folks. Thank you for taking us along with you!
The inevitability of winter in Canada makes us understand preparations. We had winter arrive 8 days ago. I'll never "like" it.
Thank-you for another video insight into your off-grid preparations.
I came for the overland content, but this winter island life has me so interested. Love seeing all of the preparation and looking forward to what winter holds in store. Thanks for the great videos!
Sitting here and thinking in my usual fashion of thinking of the animal first before the humans: How well you all take care of Lando. It makes him truly a part of the family. Thank You for putting on his sweater to keep him comfortable. Great day of satisfying work. In the dead of winter, it will all have paid off bountifully. I hope you all stay Safe.
HEY! Good morning and thumbs UP!!
Always a pleasure watching others doing all the work of getting ready for winter!! Nice having some strong boys to help.
Nice German Pointer, I had one before, his name was Flint. I still miss him.
They are a wonderful breed. A family member has one and his markings are quite similar to Lando.
Great name !
You all for sure deserve a Man meal! It's so cool to see the way you all pitch in together ,even Lando! what a great dog!!!!
I just assumed that Caroline was behind the camera. Great job, Pete, with the filming and editing!
Gotta love Muskoka.
You have a top knotch security guard dog/supervisor
A dolly would be mighty helpful at moving those propane tanks👵👵👵
Meal looks delicious enjoy
My childhood was spent in Michigan not far from Lake Michigan and the lake effect snow, so I can fully appreciate the need to prep for winter. We are just getting the first proper taste of late fall where I live now, so we are way behind you in seeing the arrival of winter and all that brings.
I grew up on the other side of Michigan, Mt. Clemens. Now in Texas but I miss the snow.
Top tip of the day ! Lay your gamechangers on their sides in series piles of 48 volts and USE SOLID COPPER BUS BARS instead of cable and lugs. This WAY CHEAPER [ and way less resistance, resulting in more efficient charging and discharging ] as the cable is expensive but the lugs are worth more than all the wire combined. Just use cable and lugs to connect to the Victron Lynx distributer [ fused bus bar ] in parallel, Keeping a 48 volt system. The Lynx seems expensive but when you consider it provides a fuse for each battery pac , inverter ,generator, and solar,is able to consolidate all sources of power [ solar, generator, inverter, charger ] into one or two neet and organised blocks, for both positive and negative leads. CHEERS FROM THE OKANAGAN Steve h.
Thanks, this is a great tip. Will do that on our next set of batteries. Happy New Year!
I so wish I had a family to do this with. ❤❤❤
Excellent choice going with Battleborn and a Victron setup. I install those systems in quiet a few rvs
Thanks, We love the set up.
A very well done video, the scenes of “the boy and his dog “on the lake brought tears to my eyes.
So glad you enjoyed the video. Happy new year to you!
I lived in countryside in my childhood. Preparing winter was not difficult than farming but essential for overcoming freezing weather. Now I live in mega city with polluted air and I got some diseases from 40's. I dreamed of wilderness life without 5g and even no electricity. Having a nice dinner with a nice and warm wood fire makes man get together. Beautiful places! A good legacy to preserve in success in earth.
Every time I watch your videos at the cabin, I feel like I’m home. Thank you so very much!!!!
I’ve been cooking for 45 years and never checked the temperature once. Look at it smell it and touch it.
Good tip.
Dogs and cardboard boxes. It never gets old. LOL Way to go, Lando!
Great that you have two strong boys to help with all that heavy lifting! Really enjoying your preparations for winter!
Yes, thank you.
A lot of work living on an island over the winter! But you're living the dream. Thanks for sharing
It’s so refreshing seeing a fully engaged father. Family is so important! ☺️ New subscriber that grew up in Whitehorse, Yukon. Love the content. 👍🏽👍🏽
Beautiful place...
NOW WHEN YALL SAID LOOK FORWARD TO FILLIN YOUR FREEZER, I WAS THINK HUNTIN, NOT SHOPPIN
I imagine there are checklists being checked and double-checked. Winter set in abruptly here in Wisconsin on Friday, that front has probably had the same effect on you. I liked the camera angles and shots chosen. Good video storytelling, the fireside segment in particular. Good job Pete!
A beautiful video and I loved your choice of music for it.
Step back 150 years. Early settlers had a small cabin. No solar panels, no generators, No chain saws, No modern freezer. Those were tough people! Love ur family videos!!
Living off grid and looking good while doing it. Your boys fit is always on point. Throughout the vids I am looking up the brand name of their clothing. It was cool to see them on the XO website. Love your family, love your vids, & love Lando.. Your cinematography is lit btw (That means really good🙂).
Loved the music on this one. I can’t wait to see your adventures through the winter.
Your videos are a great escape. I always feel more relaxed and less stressed after watching. I'm looking forward to the winter on the island. :)
I have never ever seen such a beautiful place nor such a lovely lifestyle, stuck as I am in New Delhi -- the smog capital of the world
Killer jeeps
My dog does the exact same thing with cardboard.
Suggestion: I apologies for my Lateness, have stated to watch your whole series so i am catching up.
My Japanese sister-in-law in Northen Kyoto prefecture around Maizuru, Kyoto has 2 100 pound propane bottle she keeps to warm her place along withy for cooking and doing laundry. she keep them (the propane bottles) outside and keeps them heated in winter with either space blankets tucked around each of them (when its 10c to 2c) and with electric battery bank powered 1 person bed blankets under the space blankets so the Propane bottles don't get cold at night or when its snowing outside.
Regards from Singapore, GOD bless.
Nice to see you wearing your poppy god bless xx
Thank you EFRT for your beautiful vlogs, really needed it as I’m having a crappy week but watching your family preparing for winter is something we do for all year round like we’re doing in our New Zealand coming summer lol I’m not a summer person lol.
Thank you again much love, take care and be safe ❤
To bad you are not in jeeps doing adventures like the show started.
Winter is just part of living in Canada , buying everything to prepare for winter is a form of prepping .
Hunting , fishing ,canning harvesting wood would be great content and a true form of prepping off grid for winter
Hope to see more on the road episode's
We have lots of epic road trips planned ahead. 👍🏻
Such an awesome video.
What a interesting life you and your family leads, a adventure all on it's own
It really is! Happy new year to you and yours!
Thanks. I love it when you cook and eat outdoors. Hope the winter goes well there. From NZ.
Us Kiwis are big on outdoor eating and adventures - any excuse to bbq or by fire (unless there’s a fire ban)
Your videos bring me so much joy and adventure. Look I forward to you surviving the winter .🙏🏽😊👏🏽
Great video

Quede extaciada con los paisajes , amo a la \ os que inventaron el Dron , que maravillosa que es la Tierra !!!
Nicely done on the video guys the pork looks delicious. I can’t wait to see the solar electrical system. I’m so glad your headlamps are flying off the shelf I know I love mine, Lando and that box 😂😂😂 ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
Really enjoying the cabin reminds me off all the work we used to do every year in Alaska to prepare for winter.
Yep. We were one of those wondering where Caroline was. I told Hannah that Dan look tired when they home and he was yarning everytime we saw him. Glad she's getting rest. One can only imagine what all that traveling felt like. Different than EFRT.
Hey Peter, I just noticed you have a UA-cam channel, great to see you have a wonderful family now and are experiencing what Christ and life has to offer.
I too live on the lake now and there’s no life like it! All the best!
LOVING the channel. Great quality and SO peaceful to watch. Living in Florida, the wifey and I miss the season changing and cooler weather. Looking forward to seeing your winter adventure. I also just purchased your book and just getting started. Be safe and thank you for sharing your adventures.
I live on the east coast of Scotland but we really don't get much snow during the winter. For me to get my snow fix I go to a campsite which is next to Loch Morlich near Aviemore in the highlands, with my dog, kayak and camper. I look forward to this every year. How exciting it must be for you to live like that during the winter. Looking forward to your winter adventures.
You must have enormous freezers!
Love your video series thank you
It's interesting seeing everything that you have to do to prepare for winter and the freeze over period. It seems like a hovercraft would be perfect for thein between time!
a beautiful photo frame at 6:30 seconds. I really like the content. Canada in my heart
the Mrs and I recently purchased a pair of EFRT claymore headlamps and we concur...they are awesome and extremely bright!!! We were able to use them on our last camping trip of the season in Rondeau PP. Another awesome video!!!
Unusually good camera work. Kudos to whomever is behind the camera.
thank you sir and your enchanting family
I think you've got it all set for the freeze out. Such a cozy cabin full of family love and serene beauty.
Very nice off grid house/cabin on island and very well prepared for the winter !!!
Just found you all the other night what a amazing family you are so much love and caring and work and all together bless you all
wow lots of preparation for your guys winter living this year on the island..... Lando is such a good helper Pete!!!! Hope you guys are staying warm.
Hugs to you guys. If we get too cold we’ll come down and do some desert trails with you 👍🏻
@@EFRT hugs back you all and Lando👍🙏😋❤️ and yes absolutely!! Till the next time we see you guys again, May God always keep you all safe and healthy…. Beverly say hello 👋 too
Awesome way to spend your life, living in the Bush and off the Grid. Do you guy's not hunt?
Yes. We just haven’t been around enough for the past few years.
Although your community is used to seeing Epic videos South of the border during Canadian Winters.....(which we all love), I think this winter is going to be just as Epic.... forward to see a frozen lake with lots of snow for you guys to enjoy and share with your community.....Empty nested is over rated (lol).....Good to see you are ready for the winter version of the Epic Family road trip .....it will re-energize you for your spring awakening!!! Be safe, Carpe Diem!!!
Absolutely one of, if not the Best, channels on UA-cam..
I just found your youtube videos- and what a treat to be able to watch such an amazing family and their epic journey. Thank you for sharing this, I have been camping, cottaging in Northern Ontario all my life, Algonquin park, Kilbear park, my family had a cottage on Parry Island, and I had one later on at Healey Lake. Your videos are so relaxing and grounding and I have so many videos to catch up with! God bless your family and thanks again!
Love the place and the vibes, but all that foam cutting debris gonna stay there almost forever ... in your own land ... even if we can´t see it.
Hope you njoy the winter there!
I brought one of the Claymore lamps and it is awesome. Thanks to Epic Family for this great headlamp.
Mornin 👋😎👍
Lots to get ready! Quite the equipment to be ordered and setup. Can't wait for it to be setup and see how it all works!
Another epic video! Thanks for letting me my city boy life vicariously through yours.
You all need to take up hunting. That’s as organic as it gets. Thanks for sharing
I grew up camping in the mountains in the early 70,s -86,from Canada,Minnesota the Sierra mountains. I miss that. Oh not like todays camping but how it was ment to be.
Thanks for the videos. Y’all work hard and it obviously pays off. I live in Orlando and I’m looking forward to not running my A/C for a week or two.
I enjoyed that you guys are back together again. I enjoyed your trips on the road. I kind of live my life through your your adventures
My dream is to spend a winter on our island in Temagami some winter. Love watching your videos, as they inspire and encourage the dream. If your 3 hours North of Barrie... you may be in the same area. Looking forward to watching this adventure in the coming episodes. Be safe.
Wish to experience winter wonderland in an amazing cabin like yours my epic family. Wow , what a great family bonding preparing goods for the coming winter . ❤️❤️❤️. Take care always 🏕
Hi Lando, you’re awesome. I have grand dogs and my own one remaining cat, he’s awesome too.
Try doing your foam insulation around the perimeter of each building both vertically and horizontally (at least four feet out, you can cover with soil) . Doing so will allow the geothermal heat from earth to prevent frost from penetrating.
Being a truck driver that headlamp will be very useful ordered me one
Awesome! Hope you love it!
Good times at the lake. Most people won’t get to experience the winter like that. Makes fo good memories.
What camera were you using during the cooking on the fire?
Thanks. Using a Sony FX6. 🎥
Thank you for sharing your EPIC adventures with us. Stay safe, stay warm and enjoy!
I didn't see any balogna!!! From N.B.
How fun to spend Christmas on the island.❤️
