It's simply a term for the English words "motion pictures" that's what ever Japanese thinks in Japan, regarding of what type of animation they watch, whether it may be Chinese animation or western 2D Animation, they will call those shows as anime. You can't create a word without a meaning to it, most weebs today don't get this.
