So here's the breakdown for the trip:
🇰🇪 Flights from Nairobi: KES 16,000 (160$) round trip using FLY 540
🇰🇪 Driver in Turkana: Nixon- (0721649255) he charges KES 10,000 (100$)per day ( negotiable)
🇰🇪 Accommodation: we paid for the best rooms which were about 15,000 (150$) per night. They have different rooms ranging from 2k to 20K (20-200$)as well as a camping option. Below is the website you can check out what would suit you:

There are also so many camps in Turkana that are nice. You can do some research if you're planning to visit.
🇰🇪 Tourist attractions
*The ''Jesus Hill'' in Lodwar ( afew minutes from the airport)- has a Christ The Redeemer Statue just like in Rio Brazil
*Pyramids of Turkana (Locally called the Pyramids of Wadach)
*Fish Market in Kalokol
*Central Island (we took a boat from Kalokol) costs KES 12,000(120$) for the entire boat, for a half day trip. (a lot cheaper if you're in a group)
*Sand Dunes in Napeget - beware of the local community who live around there, the say they own the land so you may have to tip them 2K - 5K (20-50$) to get to see the dunes

What a lovely couple! I was last in Turkana in mid-1980's so searched UA-cam to see how things have changed since then and found you. We never got out to Central Island but everywhere else looks very similar - though the Jesus statue didn't exist way back then. There were very definitely crocodiles and hippos to be wary of when swimming in Lake Turkana - I saw both! The people were great, even if some were a little wary of white people/authority(?) - with good reason, historically! Almost no Turkana people wore anything more than a thong and a leather cloak or - I have no idea what they are called - chest leather thing with fish bones and dioom nuts. The ladies wore wrist knives and needed them!
Go there, people! Spend *at least* a month. It's a truly great place, if you give it time. The food, the people are all wonderful - try mtumbo (sp?)

Hi Natalie, loved this video, it made me so nostaligic.
Been to Eliye a couple of times, and I've even camped overnight in a tent right on the beach (before it flooded, they used to have a beach bar and a beach ball pitch and it was so cool). I've not been to Central Island but the drive from Kalokol to Lokitaung via the Turkana Boy Monument route has the mist spectacular gorges (lagas) ever.
Also prefer Skyward Express over Fly 540 because Wilson Airport is waay more convenient than JKIA. Plus, at the time (before Covid) they had 3 Flights a day which was convenient for us.

A lot of history in one place. Turkana is a great place for science and learning where we humans all came from. It's literally in our backyard. I hope to one day do a proper pilgrimage here. Thanks for the tour. helped.
