The trick is to cook on your grill and then finish under the broiler for 90 seconds. Perfect every time for NY style and you don't heat up your house in the summer.

I don’t like that much flop with my pizza, the pizza oven is a fail for me. Glad you made this video. I have been bbq’ing pizzas for a while with charcoal, I like the taste and texture. Nice video and informative video.

Great video. I always wonder how you consume all the food doing all the comparisons & tests and how you even have room in your fridge for something like that proofing tray? Also, you did not mention if you can freeze the dough balls for future use?

Why not just use a pizza stone on top of grates?

I have a round pizza stone that I have used in the BBQ , just remember to put it in the BBQ when the Q is cold and let it heat up with the grill. Cheers

Never get good top heat from a grill. Never get great top heat in a home oven but at least you have the opportunity to use the broiler at the end.

I feel like I searched all of UA-cam for someone to do a video of homemade dough (not a store bought, premade crust) on a flattop griddle. No video exists. Maybe it's cause it can't be done, if so, fair enough. But as someone who wants to do smashburgers without using a small cast iron plate on my standard grill AND not have to break out my pizza stone to throw on my grill when I want to do pizza.....my question is....can a griddle replace a pizza steel/stone? I want to replace my grill and if a griddle can eliminate multiple accessories for my grill...I'm in!

Your gas grill gets WAY hotter than many (my Weber is just good for 550 or so) and that might lead to conclusions which don't apply to most of us. Your pizza oven pie looks about a thousand times better than the gas grill one, to me 🙂 PS the GrillGrates look great but are prohibitively expensive...cheaper pizza ovens cost less than the GrillGrates

Crank it up as high as it can go. Use a cast iron pizza pan or a baking steel. As they said make sure the middle burner or burners dircectly under the pizza are off or on low. I usually just turn the middle one off. I feel that the cast iron / steel makes a big difference. Good luck!
