Somerset and Middlesboro Kentucky are great places offering lakes, mountains and rivers like no other places in the state.

Dumb question, how is the homeless population. I live in California
I lived in Kentucky until last month. You will see homeless in the big cities like Louisville and Lexington, but most of the homeless are drug addict. I live in a small town border with Tennessee and never saw one homeless. Houses and rent are cheap in the subs. What I notice in Kentucky is problem with drugs anywhere you go but people are really nice. Never had a problem, people respect others people property.
