Baltzola Cave | Bouldering in the Basque Country

As this is Road to V11’s 30th video I thought I’d take this as an opportunity to give you guys a bit of insight about the climbing in area I’m from.
In this episode I visit Baltzola, a jaw-dropping crag 30 mins drive from my hometown in the Basque Country (Spain), to try out the very first bloc of La trave de Arroitajauregi; La trave facil.
Baltzola is such an amazing place that has inspired legends and tales in Basque mythology and hosts some of the hardest sport climbs in the country.
As I explain in the video what I intend to climb is just the beginning of a monster traverse that climbs at 8c+/9a. Here’s a link to a video by David Lopez if you want to check out the full climb:

Also, if you were intrigued by my choice of music in the intro of the video, that instrument is called Txalaparta, and it is Basque folkloric percussion device used to announce celebrations, usually associated with cider making.

Thanks! We were using head torches on the last problem as it is quite dark at the back of the cave!
