- This is me playing Cripple Creek on my Mountain Dulcimer, also testing out my new noter that I carved out of a stick in the yard... Works great!
(sadly no cat in this one, but there are cows on the other side of the camera)
He's using a quill (feather) for a plectrum, and also a "noter" on the fretboard instead of his fingers. It's how many traditional people would have played. Very nice! 🎶🎵🎶
Dadgum shame there's not a
way to give more than one
thumbs up.
This deserves more than one
Using your comment as the second thumbs up ;)
Gave one for ya, wasn't planning on it till I saw the comment
Wow !! That is so cool I have read about playing with a quill but never seen it .. Looks very difficult but boy it sounds good Thank you !
Using a turkey quill as a plectrum sounds better than using a guitar pick.
Wonderful playing well done. Loved it
Very good playing young man...
Nice to see someone using a noter stick. Keep it up.
Great playing!
Right on! Awesome playing 👍🏻
Love this!!!
Sounds great
lovely!
Excellent!
Love it!
Keep up the traditional playing, people forget the sound of playing as they were meant to be played.
The only reason people started playing in "traditional" ways in the first place is because they weren't playing things "as they were meant to be played" 🙄
Imagine gatekeeping a niche instrument like this 😀 play it every which way to keep it alive
classis mistake.. there's never a right way, especially not in the mountains
Génial ! Belle énergie ! ❤️💕
Love it
Sounds good.
I bet his great great granny taught him how to play.
Great job!
great playing!!!
Thank you and well done!!
Thank you!
Wow..just wow!!💕💕💕
What are you picking with? Sounds awesome!
A quill. It's literally a wild Turkey feather with the down stripped off. He also using a short wooden dowel as a slide called a 'noter' which is why this is called called 'Noter & Quill' style.
And hallelujah 😊❤
here before 1 Mil
Maybe UA-cam will recommend this 10 years from now
Do you have the sheet music/tab for this? I'd love to learn it, it sounds great!
It’s a dulcimer you can’t hit a wrong note it isn’t like how you think whatsoever
Das ist sehr schön, aber mit dieser Kopfhaltung wird er bald mächtige Probleme haben....🙂👍
Nice. You must be about in your 20's now? Video is pretty old.
Excellent!
