Agar Sholay Film mein Amjad Khan, Gabbar Singh ka role na nibate ho sakta film flop, yeh mera khayal hai, aur dailogues Salim ji Javed ji ka bahut bada hissa hai yeh dailogues aaj bhi main choti choti baton se meri zaban se nikal hi jaata.

Buddy, a correction. Dharmendra & Hema were romancing around that time & Hema had rejected Sanjeev's offer for marriage. Hema was offered role as he was also in the movie but she didn't want any contact with Sanjeev. She offered to act in this movie with this condition that she won't have any solo scene with Sanjeev. One can see in the whole movie that there is no shot where both of them were together alone.
I think you forgot zanjeer came 2 years before sholay...and it was salim javed who recommended Amitabh to Prakash Mehra....I don't know why Amitabh said all this

You are right. Vinod Khanna played Daaku Gajjar Singh in " Mera Gaaon Mera Desh". He could have done justice to the role of Gabbar Singh whose name was inspired from Gajjar Singh of "Mera Gaaon Mera Desh". In fact, film critics of thise days mentioned the fact that Gabbar Singh of Sholay paled in comparison to Gajjar Singh of "Mera Gaaon Mera Desh". Of course, the rest is history. 😊
Amjad broke the typical dacoit style. In most of the older movies where sunil duttji and vinodh khanna played played hero turned dacoit roles. Where as a had played out and out villain role.
