I keep getting phone calls saying my ssn is going to be suspended . And I told them I'm chris johnson from scam baiters. And I proceed to ask them if they would like log in to anydecks. Lol they hang up.
They say "motherf*cker" and then return to the conversation like nothing happened because that's totally what a legit company would do. I don't even find it funny. It makes my blood boil

They don't care about the person on the other end. If it works for one person, they make a bunch of money.
It's actually depressing to hear these because I know that someone sending 50k (or even just 10k) to "my friend in New York" would raise every red flag that I have as a sometimes-WU agent. A better lie would be *buying a house* and even then I still would be filling out 3 types of paperwork and phoning loss prevention. But if these scams are working, then *people in my line of work are not doing their jobs to protect these elderly people* and that is just saddening.
I wouldn't say that. Bank clerk can't prevent adult from using their one money. Old people are warned but they don't even listen to their family
Having worked in the bank it's very common and tbh not a lot agents can do in that situation. Credit cards can be caught but it's rare someone is dumb enough to call the bank to transfer
I work in a call centre. If you swear at a customer, or are heard swearing while a colleague is on the phone, you lose your job. These scammers don't even try to make their scams realistic. It makes me sad that they act like this to real people and make them feel intimidated and scared.
The thing is, people will say "oh but it clearly still works" or they'll bring up the old meme of "well by acting this way, it filters out all but the most gullible people", but I can't help but think if the scammers were less incompetent and stupid they'd make more money.
Oh man, I remember when one so called "human being" started threatening me over the phone, so I hung up and swore loud enough for it to be heard on my colleague's phone. Luckily, the area manager was a very down to earth guy, so he let me keep my job (for better or for worse), as long as I didn't let it happen again

He got them once to say they make a scam 1 in 1000 calls, 100 calls a day, 10 ppl per. So they usually take home one big take per night
Get 100 ppl working and you can get 10-15 in one night. The scammer said when it works its usualy 10-20k, 100pl working brings home100k... give the scammers 100 each for the nights work

The quickly part is about putting additional stress on you so that you don't stop for a moment and think.

For millennia, con-men have convinced people to give up their money by gaining their confidence and lulling them into a sense of trust. There's none of that here. I am an Indian and I live in Australia and get these scam calls almost daily (Amazon prime, tax scammers etc). I never answer. This is another pandemic of its own ! I THOROUGHLY enjoy scam-baiting videos and watching you guys destroy these scumbags.

They make you download software that lets them access your computer. That way they can make sure you fall for things, and if things go south they can try and ruin your PC.

I've worked in "legitimate" American sales call rooms and some guys sales tactic is brutal, and can lead to results. I had a guy come in and surpass everyone in sales by calling every old lady stupid, dumb and all kinds of much more insulting terms.

I’m a real call Center worker - the customers call us to place food orders and that sort of stuff for the elderly, we are a help line.
Because of all these India scammers, we have a lot of people refusing to speak to our India coworkers because customers think they are scams when they are not 🙃

I got a legit call from Priceline regarding charges made on my credit card. The woman had a strong Indian accent. Poor woman... I hung up on her 3 times, calling her a scammer. Then I started thinking that I should check my credit card account. Sure enough, someone had stolen my card info and racked up over $2,000 in charges and was trying to charge airline tickets from Priceline. The credit card company took the fraudulent charges away, cancelled my card, and issued a new card, But that poor woman and what she was saying sounded exactly like the Amazon scam.
