What a good sermon ! It popped up on my UA-cam and I don't know what led me to watching it right to the end but I am so glad I did. Even though I am not married and very much single, I have definitely been convicted. Mainly my heart, my beliefs and how society has shaped my thoughts on how a Godly marriage should be like. This sermon has shifted that and I hope I will be able to model God's design for a Godly wife. I took notes (literally 5 pdf pages long) and I am sharing this with all my girls so that we can all work towards being Godly woman and wives. Thank you once again for this sermon.

God bless you for this message, the bitter truth must be told, no matter how hard we try to suppress the truth.

I loved this. I watched a Netflix called ‘pray and obey’ about the fundamentalist chrch of Latter Day Saints ‘FLDS’. Those people need to grasp this sermon. They believe in polygamy and the women practice impure obedience to their husbands. E.g lying to cover up sexual crime at their behest.
As for me, this is a great pep talk to remind me there’s certainly room for improvement in my walk with Christ and my husband! Shared! X

Thank you for not letting women slide. We need sanctification just like men and have character flaws bent towards our gender just like men do. We are the fairer sex, but so many preachers and pastors don’t address the things women need to work on because the topic has culturally been off limits ever since feminism took over. Thank you 🙏🏻

If those verses on submit and obey are to be taken literally (and they are taken out of context to take them as a literal command) the next question is ---"How far and to what degree should a wife submit and obey?
The answers to what degree depends on the particular group or church body as to their own interpretations of what that means. And those answers vary in degree and severity. From kindness and love to an extreme version of the wife never questioning and acting more like a child-servant which includes spanking those "disobedient" wives. (note- there is no such thing as a disobedient wife---but there is a such thing as a disobedient spouse. ) Between those 2 examples are a whole bunch of rules made by the churches that women must follow that vary from how to dress, how to talk, amount of education, number of children, etc etc etc. And in some churches that includes submitting to all men within that church. And when a husband is abusive, patriarchal church leaders throw more scripture and blame at the wives and says "go back and submit and obey more. it must have been something you did wrong."
Do you see the problem with this? How patriarchy is interpreted is open ended where the husband, if he abusive, can and does use those rules against his wife and to keep her in a subordinate position and in many churches can treat her cruelly. . And the stories coming out of the church of abused wives is growing and waaaay too many. It is a shameful black eye in the Christian church. Like Paul said, “May it never be!”
    1. The bible did not start out to be patriarchal. God created Eve from Adam's side not his head nor feet. Her name, Ezer kenegdo” which means “helper or partner suitable for him" . Ezer” describes strength and suggests that the individual has power to rescue others”. And God gave them the same task-- to tend the garden. There is no mention of hierarchy.
    2. Patriarchy came in because of the fall. Patriarchy also including ruling over other men, not just women.
    3. Women worked side by side with men in the early church in the servant posotions as deacons, leaders, teachers, whatever God called them to do as servants of the church. Paul names several women who were his co-workers in Christ.
    4. Christ redeemed us from the curse. Why do women still have to operate under it ?
    5. It is a shame and a big black eye in the church, that those few verses about wives submitting and obeying are taken out of context and misapplied as many women have suffered abuse because of those verses. There are other verses like staying single and greeting others with a holy kiss that are totally ignored.
    6. And it is ironic that the only group offering help and resources to abused women are those who are egalitarian (you know those who believe that spouses have equal say and submission is mutual.)
If you want deeper insight into the idea of mutuality in marriage check into “Bare Marriage” and “Marg Mowzcko” ----there are many others I can only remember those two.

At minute 24 you start talking about women who are married to ungodly men, if your husband wants you to stay home and not attend church or Bible study, do we submit to that? Also if a husband has asked for a divorce, but is not certain when he will be able to follow thru with it, what is the woman’s responsibility?

I hate western weddings (my own included). It’s such a blur. No spiritual significance. Can’t wait for our wedding to Christ!

Modesty in dressing has disappeared from the body of Christ, let's make every effort to bring it back.
