Knowing that it's a short web series with a smaller budget but putting in so much effort to make this drama as high quality as possible makes me appreciate it more. Could not, not praise this one enough. If all lengthy and high-budget productions gave me the same feelings, I wouldn't drop dramas so much! Totally recommend this as of its halfway point!

I found this drama rec'd on another site and decided to check it out a couple of days ago. Now I can't wait to recommend it to others. Even though I have just come off watching The Killer Is Also Romantic, I did not realise it was made by the same group, so I was really tickled to see the little references to that series, sprinkled throughout the early chapters of this one. I can't praise Butterflied Love enough. It is a feast for the eyes, and tells the story so well, with few dry parts. I was hooked within minutes of episode one, and cannot wait to see where it's going to end.
This director has already stamped the signature. I immediately recognize that this drama is his work. I keep an eye on Deng Kai, so I'm glad his doing great here. Love the story progress on second couple. Maybe because the other short dramas have many highly detail and intense scenes that make me so focused, and this is longer with lot of stuff included, I feel a little bit lost and craving more 😅

Unpopular opinion. But I'm enjoying this so much more than TTEOTM. Im enjoying the ML and FL so much. I wonder if this director had a huge budget if it would stifle his story telling.
Another dark horse show after the glorious "An ancient Love song". Watching it on Viki. Rain Lu type of cuteness feels really "organic?" I would say, like Zhao Jin Mai's (even ZJM look stands out). The type of cuteness that does not irk me at all and I fully buy. Her character here is written with the right balance of innocence and maturity. I liked her in that drama with Kris Fan three years ago
She's child-like without being childish--that's how I'd characterize it. She's the right kind of innocent without being airheaded--she shows she cares about the people around her, even in the early scenes. And she shows a capability to learn and grow. The show also veered away from any kind of grooming, so she gets to be who she wants to be without romantic advances from the male lead. She presses to learn things and actually retains them... which is more than I can say for another female lead that came around the same time. TT OMG, the dress plot in that drama.
I liked killer is also romantic and I'm liking and recommending butterflied. Hoping second half is good too. Agree with your assessment. It looks extremely good.
This sounds interesting & it's on a platform I have access. I could care less about any actor, performer or singer's personal, real life. Their lives are private and I like to keep it that way. What does it have to do with me? Nothing.
I agree it's reay worth watching. I checked this out because of the 2 male characters. Zhao Yi Qin I know from Fake Princess. That one I really enjoyed. And of course Deng Kai. I like his performance from The Blood of Youth as the main villain. But best of all the plot is refreshing. Now that you mentioned the other works of the director I am even looking forward to complete this drama.

Enjoying the heck out this drama. Like Rain Lu very much. I first saw the director writer combo effort in A Familiar Stranger (2022), which I thought was very good. This is the first writer that I'm following. Have re-watched it twice and some episodes more than that.
Haven’t watched it yet but I really liked a Familiar Stranger. I didn’t like the Killer is also romantic as much. Recently I have been watching a lot of short dramas and some are very good. I also liked Dangerous Love, Fated to Love You, My Decoy Bride and My Love and I’m willing to take the poison you give to me! Much better than the longer dramas out!
I am loving this drama.. Everything about it. But MDL says it's a based on an old legend 'Butterfly Lovers'. I looked it up and feel like I need to wait until the end to watch. I felt more hopeful with your comment about the production being made to please it's viewers and make them happy.. But I also know lots of people like to cry with dramas. haha. I don't.. I always enjoy your educated view point on film making, it helps me look with new eyes at some things.
they should give the big budget project to that director and writer so they can shine more, they get more money, and we didn't hurt our brain. honesly I can't find fun drama, they just hurt my brain and wasted my time. Ok, I started this yesterday because of this review and am caught up to episode 14 🤦🏼♀️ it is so good!!! So unexpectedly and captivating/beautiful.
