One of coolest looking guitars I never knew existed. I'm shocked at how unknown this model is. The look of this guitar blows any SG out of the water hands down. I'm dying to try one to see how I like the sound in person...
I own a 1962 Wilshire with the tremelo system on it. Got it new at the age of 10. Back using it as my go to guitar with the band. Just bought a Crestwood too. Love them both. Rock On!
Epiphone pro p90s are great proper nickle silver backplates and alnico magnets the proper ingredients to making awesome pickups. Epiphone really has come leaps and bounds under new management.
My first guitar 58 years ago was the Coronet. I traded it for an Gibson SG special and started missing my Coronet right away. When this reissue came out and I read a few reviews I had to replace my old Coronet. The guitar is awesome. The P90 sounds great. The pots are CTS, the body and neck are solid mahogany. This is my first import guitar, my normal brands are Gibson, Heritage and G&L. This axe holds it's own, the P90 is a nice change from all the HB pickups I have. Los Angeles Jump Blues player
Excellent Demo. Well done. One of the best that I've seen. The fact that you played straight into an amp with just a bit of reverb added is excellent, and gives an accurate demo of each guitar's sound. I love the look of the Crestwood, but don't like Bigsby style vibratos. I'd probably pull the bar and stash it in the bag. That Coronet is a firecracker! I used to own a 60's Coronet, and it was a hot rod, too. I also used to own a 60's Wilshire 12 string and loved the mini-humbuckers. I sold both for too cheap when I was desperate for money decades ago. :( I'm seriously considering the Crestwood for the cool aesthetics and mini-hums.
I like the mini humbuckers the best, although they all sound really nice. I have a Crestwood, and my band loves the way it sounds. I use a Marshall 2061x and one Jensen 10” 40-watt Falcon. I also own 2 70s Les Paul Customs, but the Crestwood shows them up quite nicely.
Steve Marriot played an Epiphone Coronet on Humble Pie/Rockin’ the Fillmore. The interplay between Marriot on the Coronet and Frampton on his Les Paul Custom is the very sound/definition of Rock n’ Roll.Rockin’ the Fillmore INDEED!!!Rock On.
I'm looking for my first electric guitar and I've been thinking it's the Crestwood but the Wilshire sounds better. But the Crestwood has the tremolo and looks so awesome. This is hard
Love them getting a crestwood or coronet.cant decide probably crestwood since I own an SG jr and haven't had mini HUMBUCKERS since my firebird was stolen
The coronet is cool. How thick is the body? The originals were square edged like a Tele. I don’t like the logo on the scratch plates, look tacky. Great tones and chops.
I have two guitars from this series and a Casino Coupe. My major issue, chalk it up to snobbery on my part, is the poly finish instead of nitro. I know why they do it but I rarely turn over bits in my collection and I’d like to see legitimate aging after a decade of use. ChiCom guitars have gotten better over the last two decades.
You were able to play and listen in person to all 3 , which one would you purchase and why ? I cover mostly Petty ,Stones ,Springsteen ,CCR , I’m not wealthy so leaning toward Coronet . Thoughts ?
The Crestwood Custom would be my choice for general use. It's the most adaptable, the vibrato is nice and it sounds cool. Looks good in white version too.
Thanks for the kind words. The Crestwood Custom feels the most 'Fendery' if you like but it's still most definitely its own thing. The Wilshire felt the most conventional and modern feeling, mainly because it's got quite a straightforward two-pickup design and no slightly quaint trem or tailpiece! The Coronet is just a cool little guitar. They're all very nice, extremely hard to argue with for the money and just a bit different, too. Easy players, nice sounds, nothing cheap feeling about them. Good work, Epiphone.
Thanks, I think it’s brilliant that Epiphone can produce excellent examples of its own models in addition to “Gibsons-with-the-wrong-name-on-the-headstock” (not there’s anything wrong with these). I’m definitely tempted. The white Crestwood looks stunning.
They all have medium C necks. They are essential all the same construction wise but have different hardware and pickup configurations as well as different pick guards.
Sad about the fact that Gibson needed to bully the owner of the Coronet trademark, Satellite Amps, over the Coronet model. They didn't have the legal right to use that trademark, as Satellite registered it in 2016 because Gibson never bothered to; but they infringed on it anyway, as they knew they'd be able to force it out of the hands of the owner by threatening to force them into an expensive legal battle which only they could afford. These look like nice guitars, but I don't think I'll ever put my money into the Gibson brand if that is what it stands for.
Well even if you register something the fact epiphone have been manufacturing these since 1959 you can't argue with that. In this case epiphone own the shape and name.
@@SionynJones it's not quite that simple. Although Epiphone used the Coronet name first (which gives them the right to claim the trademark), Gibson failed to ever trademark it, and I believe the rule is that if nothing is sold under the name for 3 years then it becomes open for someone else to purchase it. I don't believe they contested this with Satellite until 6 months before the release of this range of models when they filed a suit against him and then released the Coronet without even having that suit finalised. Just because they used the name in the past doesn't mean they just automatically own it many years later. Satellite had the sole legal right to use that name, regardless of what Gibson have made in the past, and Gibson infringed on that and then used their money to force his hand. Besides, it isn't the most completely original invention - I believe the shape is technically a double cut tele, or at least a telecaster with the cutaway side mirrored.
I’m getting tired of hearing about corporate insider action. I’m a blues guitarist and don’t give a rats ass about the inner workings of the trademark world of international corporate structures. Plus, I’m sure none of us really known the inside workings of these companies anyway? I like the guitar though! It’s sad that people’s voices are used to tear down an American company. I guess it could make people feel in control in an out of control world. To each there own though!
@@benlogan430 It's up to the individual consumer to decide what does or does not matter to them. If you or others don't care, then whatever, but I'm sure many find that aspect important. What I'm saying isn't going to "tear down" Gibson, but I believe we should all have a grasp on how a company you're participating in operates, which allows you to make an informed decision. Is it a Strat? is it an SG? No, it's something that is far cooler, better, does what they both do, and more. And the aesthetics of the design is so original. Modern players are so guitar blinded by Strat, SG, and Les Paul shapes, it's gonna take them a while to realise how good and how cool these guitar are! True to the original Epiphone Design in the 50s, when they were doing their own thing before Gibson got really involved. Make no mistake, these guitars will go up in price and be future vintage classics! I've already ordered a Wilshire fur £299! Bargain! 😳
They look cool but that laurel fretboard is a minus for me. I tried to buy the Epiphone LP JR that people were raving about but it was terrible. I returned it 2 days later. I hope these are better.
that's the unfortunate thing about buying guitars blind. I always prefer see a instrument before buying but things the way are this moment its all we have

I have to say for my ears it’s the Coronet , I really love it’s looks best to .

Really like your tasteful playing (and the guitars, too).

I wish they kept the old headstocks!
The headstocks are period correct.
That Crestwood is a beauty.

I guess I'm quite randomly asking but do anybody know a good site to stream newly released series online?
@Braylen Johnny i use Flixzone. Just search on google for it :)
@Rohan Spencer yea, have been using FlixZone for months myself :)
@Rohan Spencer thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there =) I really appreciate it!
@Braylen Johnny Glad I could help :D

These are some really awesome guitars. They play very nicely. :)

Body is about Strat sort of thickness, maybe a tad more
@@guitarist wow! I really want one. I live single pickup guitars. I’d love a Gibson SG junior!
I just know that I was listening to this video, and each time I heard the Crestwood I had to turn to check what it was... always the Crestwood
Epi coronet sounds really good like the sustain on it..
I have it. It kicks! The sustain is great and the way the guitar vibrates from that wrap tailpiece feels very connected.
Awesomeness. Very nice 👍

Wow amazing demo 👍⚡️
You spelt your name wrong!
I’m not from the UK🇬🇧. Am I allowed to play this guitar?
04:44 This instrument has an xtremely beautiful sound.
My '65 Epiphone Wilshire has a bat-wing head-stock. I much prefer it to those head-stocks but they're still a very cool looking guitar.
Coronet : Steve Marriott' Humble Pie first period

Vox AC15 C1

weight of the 3 guitars please
Don’t these have a slightly shorter scale length than Gibson?
nope same as your tradition scale length 24.75 inches on par with originals which these re issues for.
The crest wood sounds best. Like the original
I really like the custom but would love anyone of them
NICE 1 Jamie! \m/
Do the pick ups whistle up loud
Wilshire -> My Place Now.
I’d like to know what amp he’s using, pedal etc….
It was a Vox AC15C1 - tremolo effect is from the amp, bit of reverb applied in the DAW
You can't begin to understand how these things sound without an explanation of the signal chain and the amp being used!
Sure, it's a Vox AC15 C1. No pedals in the chain but some reverb off the amp
