    Thank you so much for your patterns!
    I was wondering if I could zigzag this and flip it inside out for and finish with a small elastic in the back top. I don’t have a serger.
    Thank you.

    What materials are recommended? Can you use cotton, fleece, flannel? I want to just try it out but don’t want to dish out too much $$ for hemp or bamboo right away.

    can you give rough dimensions on the newborn boosters and for the preflat. Like maybe the dimensions you start with on the preflat and the inches to measure in and down for your cuts? thanks in advance

    When using bamboo fleece, do you use the fuzzy or smooth side against baby’s skin?

    • @arfymakes3611
      @arfymakes3611  3 роки тому +2

      I prefer to keep the smooth sides out and fuzzy in. Just for more even wear. If I want something soft against the baby, I'll add one layer of cotton velour or bamboo velour just to that one surface.

    Do you use a certain type of thread in the serger? Or is any type ok?

    Dear Arfy, I just left a comment on your tutorial for making a cloth diaper insert, but will ask my question here again. I have made a few nappies with this lovely pattern of yours, but was just wondering what will happen should I put a layer of soft fluffy on the bottom of this prefold will it mess around with the absorbency having the microfleece wedged in between the layers of bamboo when I fold it up to use as an insert later?
    For the same reason, is it ok to use a layer of microfleece on top and bottom of a two layered insert? Ijust like the soft fluffiness and colour of the microfleece so much! Thanks again!

      @arfymakes3611  2 роки тому

      Microfleece will just add bulk without any absorbency is all. Lighter babies might not compress it enough to push the liquid through to the absorbent layers. I would never use it in any way that it is more than a single layer. Like, if you were to make a folded insert, I'd only have it sewn to the bit that ends up directly against the babies skin. Also, if it is trapped between any other layers, it'll be more likely to accumulate build-up and be harder to strip.

      Thank you so very much Arfy! I suspected it would do something like that, and send the moisture in a turmoil, not helping the baby bottom one bit!! I will use that microfleece only as a loose liner to use directly on the wee bottom, atop the actual insert/soaker.
      This winged prefold pattern of yours has become my favourite - everything around me has been turned into this lovely, easy to make and quick-to-dry cloth diaper!!
      God Bless, and thanks again for all your patterns and valuable tutorials!!

    Hi! I found the preflat pattern on your blog and wanted to ask- does this pattern take into account fabric shrinkage? Should I make the preflat and then wash or wash fabric first and then make the preflat?
    Thank you!!

      A general rule of thumb for any sewing project is to preshrink your fabric before sewing.

      @@AMcDub0708How do you do that. Sorry, I'm new.

    Hi there, your videos and patterns are amazing! I'm currently in the process of making diapers for my little one. In this video you mention that the preflat is 1 layer cotton jersey, 1-2 layers bamboo fleece, and maybe one layer of interlock. Is it absorbent enough with just the cotton jersey and bamboo fleece? I find it very difficult to get interlock here so wanting to keep it simple. I also have some bamboo French terry, polyester fleece, and cotton velour. What combinations of these do you think would be good?

    • @arfymakes3611

      You can use any absorbent fabrics that you are able to find. Stretchy is best for a snug fit. However, ANY absorbent fabrics can be used. Thinner total layering is fine to use as well. You can always just add a lay-in doubler if needed.

    Hey, what's the weight range on the L?

    • @arfymakes3611
      @arfymakes3611  3 роки тому

      The M-L template should be able to be used from about 12lbs-35lbs depending on how you fold it and if stretchy fabrics are used. For the larger sizes, you'd want to add doublers etc. For the smaller, just the base preflat with thinner fabrics.
