    What I love most about this channel is that you show all kinds of hands. Most videos I have seen from other channels, are women with 'hand model' hands, super long and perfectly shaped nails - and looks that I could never achieve.
    On this channel, you actually showcase the beauty of the 'natural' hand and manicure. (and teach how to make the most of it) And show that you can have beautiful hands, even if you don't have tiny piano-fingers and almond shaped nails. ❤ (still envious on those that have that though😒)

    I’ve used both CND Rescue Rxx and OPI Repair Mode, each for several weeks on my peeling nails. OPI Repair Mode has been much more effective for me. I had a few nails that were peeling and crumbling so the nail could never grow out. Now after OPI Repair mode, my nails have grown out again with only minor surface peeling at the tips. Im very happy with it. It’s an excellent product.

    I've been looking forward to another update. I'm going to pick up some Repair Mode from my professional supply store today. I thought I'd share almond oil is a smaller particle on a molecular level than jojoba and actually absorbs into the skin and hair more efficiently. There's also a higher level of monosaturated fats, (which is what makes both oils moisturizing) so almond oil is usually the better choice unless you have nut allergies. Jojoba is technically a wax, which is why nails feel smoother immediately but this wax also blocks some of the moisturizing properties from absorbing into the skin and nails.

    Hello anna and everyone watching the video!
    I have been using the opi repair mode on my nails, 8 weeks after leaving shellac behind (as well as doing frequent warm oil soaks with sweet almond oil).
    Coincidentally, i started doing the treatment at around the same time as this client and i have been having the same exact results! It's quite wonderful and it has reduced the peeling on the free edge, besides making my nails look prettier and healthier in general.
    I did also start to notice my nails seemed less permeable and the product was taking longer to absorb so i will also try to space out the opi repair mode to about twice a week to prevent overdoing it, but so far so good!
    I want to thank you so much for the very helpful information in you videos, and for bringing this client back. It's really helping me understand how to navigate the use of this product and how to make the best out of it. Thank you as well to your client for the amazing help since we could not have this wonderful series of videos without her!
    Big hugs from Portugal!

    If you push the skin back after soaking it will go much further much more easily but when it dries it will be a big piece of unattached skin and that flap will dry out and be all rough and hang nails. You are doing it perfectly. They dont look picture perfect when you're done but it's much better long term. Nice

    I clicked so fast! The progress with your client’s nails is amazing! Thank you to both you and her for showing the updates. I’d love to see another for sure.
    Your videos have really helped me improve my nail care effort. I’ve seen such a difference with my cuticles (and I stopped cutting them!). The hot oil soaks and oiling throughout the day have made a big difference instead of just doing it at bedtime like I used to.
    Also, I used the OPI repair mode and nail envy as instructed for a few weeks and saw a nice improvement in the state of my nails. I’ve now been able to go back to wearing my regular polish 6 days a week and doing an oil soak and manicure on the 7th day after I remove my polish (lacquer).
    Again thank you so much for all you do ❤

    I used OPI RM for three weeks, morning and night, and it fixed my peeling nails entirely. I’m not sure why but it also lightens the tips of my nails which looks so nice with a sheer pink polish. Now I use DD and when I take it off, I use OPI RM again and give my nails a soak the next day on jojoba and then I repolish with DD. I use Kerasal with and orange stick every night on my cuticles and give myself a hand massage with Cereve balm or Skin Fix hand moisturizer. The entire cycle is just under two weeks. I finally have a routine that works, that doesn’t take too much time and is so much cheaper than going to the salon. I’m so grateful for everything I’ve learned from this channel, thank you so very much! I’m 51 and finally have nails and hands that I am proud of! ✨💕✨

    I'm glad it worked for her. I was thinking about trying it but given that no beauty product brand has helped to a great degree, I shelled out for Derma Nail because it's from a para-pharmaceutical brand that only makes skin care. That will also take a while, I guess until the nail totally grows out. In the meantime, I'll stick to your very helpful regimen.

    I’ve been using this OPI product for a few months - bottle is almost gone. I’ll use it when my nails get super thin from gel etc.
    it works- it really does HOWEVER
    It makes my nails slick. Like nothing will stick to them after using it - not using it before I polish, but using it days prior. The finish your nail grows back in is slick- idk how else to describe it.
    Gel, polish, nail glue, nail glue tabs- nothing sticks to my nails anymore. It’s so weird

    For the OPI repair mode, why do you ignore the directions? It states to use twice a day for 6 days. I would think those are the directions for a reason, hence overuse is counterproductive. Would like to know your thoughts on using it outside of what the directions state. Is it just being purely experimental? Because of these directions, I am careful of overuse. I wait 4 to 6 weeks before I use it again (attempting to try not to overuse) I do another 6 days twice a day.. Doing this it always absorbs. I respect your thoughts on this subject as you do have a way more wide variety of nail care experience.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому +2

      Hi Regina! I so love your comment! I love how you challenge my direction but you are doing it respectfully and you are giving me your side of the story. It is so rare these days! Thank you!
      So this is how I look at it:
      OPI says that this product does not over-harden the nails. They also say 6 days and then once a week (from what I read double application) as maintenance.
      This way you are overlapping the nail anyway.
      I don't want to say that my client didn't use it twice a day but often people forget.
      6 days didn't give us results we were hoping for. Her nails didn't feel brittle. I felt that she could do another 6 days.
      I'm not saying that this is the way it should be used but I wanted to see what happens when it's used for 2 weeks.
      We will see how they look next time. She will be coming after 10 days this time.

      In the link above, from the OPI site, under the heading “how to use,” it says to use daily after the initial six days.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому +1

      Hi Regina!
      I think they (OPI) changed instructions. Now they say after using it twice a day for 6 days to use it once daily
      www.opi.com/en-GB/products/treatments-strengtheners-repair-mode-bond-building-nail-serum
      Apply 2 times a day on bare nails for 6 days for maximum efficacy. After 6 days, use Repair Mode™ once daily to combat Keratin breakdown caused by daily activities (such as hand washing).
      What do you think....?
      PS. Here it says to use it daily too (step 9):

    So would I be correct in thinking this product is not one we should use if we have very hard nails? I have very solid nails that tend to split or snap when the nails has to flex too much, so would I be correct in thinking this product is not the one I should use and instead I should just do oil soaks to soften/hydrate the nails more?
    What if you have hard nails but you have some layers peeling from improper removal of gel; then would this product be helpful? I guess I'm trying to figure out in what cases we should use this product, vs should not use this product. Some review say it made their nails worse and I'm thinking it's because this product is not what they really needed.

    Since I began watching your channel, my nails have improved 100%. All because of your advice…wish I could come to Spain. South Carolina is a long way but I would be in your salon every week. My question is concerning OPI Repair Mode. If you read and follow the directions and put on 2 coats a day, do you remove what’s already on there with acetone? The instructions don’t say to clean the nail. Also what brand jojoba oil? There are sooo many on the market…that I don’t know which end is up..thanks so much. You are blessed.

    Hi Ana! I would love to see your review Spirularin from Germany. I have vertical splits in 2 of my nails for 10+ years. I desperately got Spirularin and I think it’s doing wonders! I e been using it 2x day for 4 weeks now. It has also really improved my cuticles. I’ve been taking some pics but it is working great for me!

    I just had a thought: is pushing the skin back necessary/beneficial in any way, IF you don’t have stuck skin and do not wear polish?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому

      No :) This is just to prevent the skin from sticking and stretching.

    I removed my uv lamp manicure 2 weeks ago and even the lady who did that said my nails look damaged and I think it's because the previous one that did the manicure buffed too much. But guess what came to the rescue - good old Mavala Scientifique K+ (I have the pen/marker version) and after a week the difference is insane. Did one jojoba oil soak as I ran out of it right after using (already ordered a big bottle). Mavala is a life saver! I need to see if I have OPIS product available in my country, looks very promising too!

    Thank you! Question... I remember you saying not every nail type can be fixed this way. Question is how would one know if they are in that group?? My nails are soft and split very easily, all my life. I've been trying your tips for 3 weeks now, and they are softer and splitting even more. I'm wondering if maybe mine need something else besides more oil and moisture.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому

      Sometimes especially if there is a damage it takes way longer than 3 weeks for the damage to grow out...
      Maybe your nails need something else or maybe they need more time.

      I'm located near Barcelona, Spain.
      Fungus is pretty rare on the fingernails.
      Usually people mistake onycholysis for fungus:

    Its great to see your clients progress, however this product absolutely ruined my nails. I've had some peeling at the very ends so I thought I'd give it a go, and... 3 days in my nails turned into mush. The peeling is now halfway through the nail bed, I have ridges, pitting (literal craters in my nails), they are so brittle that they crumble to dust against anything I touch. Running nail on nail I can scrape off what looks like sawdust. Dont think I will be doing full 6 days 😂

    can you do a video about the difference between opi repair mode and the ibx treatment?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому

      That is comparing apples to oranges.... OPI Repair Mode is a home treatment. And IBX is a UV cured, acrylate based salon treatment.
      So difficult to compare.

    I have this product. Oddly, the only direction is to use twice a day for six days. Then what? 90% of the bottle is left.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому

      Then you can use it once a week, I think the directions mention that.
      Actually wait! I think they changed the instructions!!

      Apply 2 times a day on bare nails for 6 days for maximum efficacy. After 6 days, use Repair Mode™ once daily to combat Keratin breakdown caused by daily activities (such as hand washing). Use alongside Nail Envy® for the ultimate power pairing. With zero dry time, apply Repair Mode™ on the go or even before bed.

    I’m going to try the OPI repair. Do you have an at home e file you like or recommend?

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому

      Efile is great if you are properly trained to use it. I really don’t recommend and it’s not needed if you are caring and doing your nails at home.
      Here is a good starting point

    It's best to find out what is causing the issue rather than a quick fix after the fact. Could be hormonal imbalance, vitamin and or mineral imbalances, medications recently started or stopped or other health issues.

    • @TheSalonLife
      @TheSalonLife  7 місяців тому

      In most cases it's lack of care. People wash their hands multiple times a day and not care for their nails as they care for skin or hair.
      This clients nails are strong and thick.
      Peeling is most likely caused by excessive water exposure and harsh detergents. It strips all the protective oils from the skin and nails.
      As people age the skin becomes more dry. That is a fact. That means dryer nails too. Of course this also could be hormonal for example. Estrogen drops during menopause and before and that affects the thickness of the skin and nails.
      But I'm not a doctor and I'm not going to advise about that.
      I can help them with appropriate cosmetic treatments that can be extremely effective. Many many clients and viewers can agree.
      Their nail care habits changed, and their nails and skin improved drastically.
      Proper nail care that I suggest is not a "quick fix".
      Many viewers asked me to try and review this product so this is what I'm doing. To show people what the advertisement vs. reality looks like.

    I never understood why oil does anything other than give a nice appearance. Since oil does not moisturize. 🤷‍♀️

    • @TheSalonLife

      A good oil can have an icredible effect on the nails.
      1) It plasticises the nails. Jojoba has an ability to over time absorb into the nail plate and let the cells slide agaist each other preventing breaks by adding flexibility.
      2) Most of quality oils are full of antioxidants protecting the nails from oxidative damage.
