Thinking of coasters that could be for sail and could be restored or preserved I was thinking maybe he could purchase Speed the Ride that used to operate in las vegas people seemed to love that ride and all the parts have been sitting in an empty lot for a long time
I'd visit Geauga Lake probably weekly. It's the closest thing that I've ever had to a real home park within about an hour drive and I've even thought of realistic plans with trying to start from fresh with it including a gravity group family wooden upon reopening and maybe an RMC Raptor soon after since it would be something new for Ohio.
@@dgpkira9440 Unfortunately, Geauga Lake Park will never reopen. Have you been by the property lately? Plus, the damage done with the infrastructure demolished and torn up, it will never happen. I think a vekoma boomerang would be a good fit for fantasy island or Indiana beach, I get they aren’t the best but they’re solid thrill rides same with slcs
News came out that he plans on changing the name to something else but he also hasn’t mentioned anything about western town. It’s too early to tell but it seems like he wants to rebrand this.
There is totally a niche market for a company to buy up smaller "local to regional" market sized parks which have either failed or are on the brink of failure and pumping new life into them.
I think he might spend this year fixing up the Water Park and opening up that part next year, as it will be the fastest way to get the park opening and generating income. The in 2023 he will open the dry side with some new flat rides a refurbished wooden coaster and ferris wheel, and a new Gerstleaur Euro Fighter to bring in the crowds, and then go from there.
I agree on everything besides the Euro Fighter. SFDL already has one. With that being said......Chance just released an updated version of their hyper GTX model that includes inversions 🤩🤩🤩. This park would be PERFECT for a coaster/model like that🙏🙏🙏🙏
@@amusementscape My other thought is that instead of the euro-fighter he might find another old coaster he could relocate there like he did for Indiana Beach
This is undoubtedly great news- but I have a few questions. From the top: 1. Has it been 100% confirmed that the other Schwarzkopf coaster (presumably the shuttle looper from La Feria) is going specifically to Indiana Beach? Or just to one of Gene Staples parks? Because I thought he might put it at Clementon Park, or now Fantasy Island. 2. What new rides do you think could go to Clementon Park and/or Fantasy Island? Hell Cat is likely a prime candidate for the RMC treatment, and Fantasy Island, in spite of being more of a family park, could still use something like a Raptor clone to give them a multilooper, airtime machine, and headliner all in one. Food for thought. 3. Is Palace Entertainment really struggling that bad? Because if so, wow. That's... Not good. I could see them look to unload their North American parks for sure (so, the Palace Entertainment part as it's really Parques Reunidos). Just don't sell Kennywood to either Cedar Fair or Six Flags, else it may go the way of Geauga Lake. Finally, as much as I would love to see a revival of SFNO, in the old location at least, I just can't see it happening. It's just too close to the lake, and too hurricane prone. Were it further inland, maybe at Baton Rouge, I could see it, but at that location, I see it continuing to sit. Maybe I'm wrong, but I also don't want Gene Staples to make a ton of investments, only to have to pull out because the park is flooded again. Just my two cents.
True. Legend. Nice to see Gene Staples become the next Ed Hart. I wonder what they are going to do with the SBNO wooden coaster though... it is probably damaged beyond repair so it will need extensive refurbishment in order for it to operate again. (RMC???👀)
If anything, Hell Cat at Clementon will get the Iron Horse treatment, Silver Comet will get an extensive re-track, and I could see Fantasy Island getting a Raptor clone or Gerstlauer or something.
I mean silver comet wasn’t closed for too long I don’t think I think some extensive re-tracking and stuff could get it up and running good again have to preserve what CCI’s are left especially the good ones
This man is awesome. Too bad he wasn't there to buy Geauga Lake Park from the evil Dick (head) Kinzel. Bet of he bought that place, it would be running and making money to this day. Long live Mr. Staples. Friend of amusement parks!!!
I knew this would happen, can’t wait for the staples chain to become a thing. Also, that Swarchcof shuttle loop would make a good fit at fantasy island.
I’d love to see a Gene Staples owned Great Escape. Just think about it: he’s proven himself with wooden coasters already (so Comet would be in good hands), he’s proven himself with maintaining the classsic feel (so some of the Storybook Land stuff could be restored), his willingness to work with troblesome coasters like Quimera to get them running could mean Alpine Bobsleds would actually operate more often than not, and of course, it goes without saying that he’d be willing to invest in much needed new coasters, unlike Six Flags.
Gene Staples also bought a shuttle loop by the same manufacturer from the same park as Triple Loop, though that coaster could also be rebuilt in either Clementon Park or Fantasy Island.
@@orangeclay0922 He could also buy Monster Mouse from Amusement Park Drive-In and add it to Fantasy Island which would bring that park's coaster count up to three so far.
@@orangeclay0922 yeah but then IB wouldn't be the schwartzkopf Mecca within driving distance that I so desperately want it to be. Put Olympia looping in fantasy island lol.
My only concern is that Gene Staples would be expanding too much too fast. He only just got IB last year, he's now bought Clementon park and might buy fantasy island?? That's almost insane, and I respect him for that, but I still feel like he's expanding too much to quickly.
People should be boycotting SFDL now that this is taking place. Darien Lake just keeps cutting rides without replacements (this season the Giant Wheel and Grizzly Run)....while the other parks in the chain are doing fine. It makes no sense anymore and before you know it, you will be looking at the next Geagua Lake if something doesn't change FAST.
You could make a series of videos on both parks and rides that Gene Staples could potentially purchase. Parks I could see Gene Staples buying: Amusement Park Drive-In Bushkill Park (I think Keldon Holdings is more likely to buy this one though Gene Staples is next most likely) Enchanted Forest Funland Amusement Park Funtown Splashtown USA Ghost Town Village Rides I could see Gene Staples buying: Monster Mouse from Amusement Park Drive-In if that park's owners opt to not join IB Parks & Entertainment Shuttle Loop from Joyland Amusement Park (That ride's train went to Frontier City's Silver Bullet but Gene Staples can buy that ride's track pieces) You can also make videos for more really crazy ideas like Gene Staples re-building Six Flags New Orleans.
But really.....people need to send a message to SFDL now that this is happening. There is finally some competition in town. SFDL has been neglecting their park for so long now that we really could be looking at the next Geagua Lake if they don't step up their game and start adding new additions. I am fully aware it is not the parks call, but SF or EPR NEEDS to do SOMETHING. They cannot keep banking on ROS as a money maker when it was put up AGES ago. The rest of their coaster collection is aged out and painful minus Tantrum (and Viper but I fear that could be leaving soon at this rate)....Even if Gene keeps Fantasy Island family oriented, I'm sure the environment will be very inviting and make you want to return. SFDL doesn't even have that going for it......
In all honesty, it's too early to tell how the purchasing and amalgamation of so many parks within a short time frame, will produce a successful business case. The funding alone for such a venture, would be in the $10's of millions. Buying the properties, permits for safety inspection and new construction. Refurbishing of existing attractions, building new ones, paying contractors, securing operating licenses. It's one seriously expensive venture to be done right. I agree, in the Amusement Park business the only way to survive is owning and operating multiple Park's and continuously adding, upgrading and updating each one every year.
Mt Olympus. Someone needs to turn this place around. They need to eliminate some of the go kart tracks and add some other rides and experiences for more variety. They also badly need to retrack some of their woodies and RMC Hades
