      The other day I got a $35 tip for going 3.7 miles. The tip was already high as is,but person tipped me more after. The thing you have to learn is ALWAYS ALWAYS send a text before you drop it off or after. Simply say this: Hi. Your food is here. I hope you enjoy it. Have a great day (or night). Thank you for any tips. I appreciate it." Always no matter what send a text when it's been delivered. You will notice your ratings going up AND tips. I've gotten quite a few higher tips after delivery. You name it $30, $36, $20...$19....etc. You can even do it on DoorDash, but obviously they cannot change the tip unless they contact customer care to do it. Your ratings will probably go up. I always say thank you no matter what and very polite. Very few or close to no drivers ever do that, send a text. I've never been tip baited either. I think because like I said I always send a text message no matter what. But I have noticed sometimes it takes over an hour to get the tip. The other day it took 2 hours for the tip to come in. It was slow for some odd reason. I feel you on DoorDash. DoorDash has been sucky crappy. It started off decent,but there is a bunch of cheap people on there. Just people that either don't tip or don't know the correct way to tip. I've gotten some that tipped me $2.50. Cheap wads! It's like can't you just tip $5 at least???

    Uber Eats has a terrible logistics problem in that they allow customers to order from restaurants too far away from them. The customer doesn't want to pay and neither does Uber so they bombard us with low paying long distance offers that hopefully drivers aren't taking. If they would just develop distance parameters for customers the problem would be solved.

    • @PicoFromTX
      @PicoFromTX Рік тому +6

      Big issue w this, and why they're not doing this, is the illusion of choice. If they capped the restaurant distance to 3-5 miles, the app would look baren to a customer. The plethora of restaurants would vanish.

      It is not ubers regulation or responsibility telling people that they can only order places. If the customer would take the time out to look at the address of the customer they could make better choices. There is someone who will take those orders or the order won't be delivered

    • @PicoFromTX
      @PicoFromTX Рік тому +4

      @@jamesflou that makes sense if the driver is making hourly + tips, but in the gig economy , 9 mi is just too far. Unless the order pays for the miles to, and from a distance that far. But most ppl are ordering one meal, and base pay is $2. So most orders over 5mi away just don’t make sense with these apps, when the average order is $5-7.

  • @SoundSpeeds
    @SoundSpeeds Рік тому +41

    The frustrating thing about Uber Eats is the misinformation. You can't see some info until you accept. Yesterday I was picking up at Dunkin and it offered me another pickup for $5 and it said .2 miles. I accepted and after dropping off the first order, it showed me 13.3 miles away for the second. Another thing that's bad is Walmart runs. I was in a Walmart parking lot during a dead time and was offered 1 item to pickup and deliver less than a mile away. Since I hadn't had any orders in any app for over 15 minutes I accepted even though it was $3.13. It ended up that that one item was a 38 item shopping list, it was 6.8 miles away and in an apartment on the 4th floor. None of that crap was revealed until I got to the next step and eight 40 packs of water were amongst the 38 items. Talk about infuriating! No tip to boot.

    I give you credit for trying to make sure the order is right before leaving the restaurant. I see a lot of videos here of drivers who don't pay attention to that at all. My area is a little higher income and really appreciate good service. I get so many extra cash tips and increased tips just by doing what comes naturally and gets ignored with DD.

      UE is my best money maker too; I’ve been tip baited once in 3 years and almost every time the customer actually ADDS to the tip after the one hour when it shows up. My area seems to have ppl who use UE and appreciate me. My DD goes off all the time but it’s very low pay and long miles. I think it’s just different in all areas and states . I like UE over DD too.

    Of the 2, I prefer UE over DD. Easy of use with declining, usually higher paying orders can be had, if there is a penalty for AR it's not as steep as DD and I don't need to schedule. Yes they will send like $2,3 orders all day but I just decline those. I also would prefer that we could rearrange stacked orders and see some things in that app that get hidden while doing an order but it is a lot easier to manage their app while driving.

      Totally agree ! In my area UE is the best and I get better tips. I have only been tip baited once in 3 years . When my tips come through , they have almost always added to them and make them higher . I don’t as many orders as DD but in the long run I make MUCH more money . It all depends on where you live . I wish I did get good orders on DD because there are more of them but they are very low pay . I also really like the UE app too. I have had maybe a couple of glitches on it before, but not many . Seems like DD is better in Fla from the videos I watch .

    Thankfully (knock on wood), I've always got all my tips. What I don't like is Shop-N-Pay orders as if the store is out of something and you don't find a replacement for equal or same amount that the customer approves of, then you will not receive the full fare offered. Also, UE will only give you a fraction of the fare promised if the customer is unavailable and will ask you to return the item to the store, unless it's fast food which they will let you keep. The last thing I don't like about UE is when you've traveled a lot of miles to get to a store and it's closed, they will only compensate you 3 bucks, no matter the distance. I usually end my shift when that happens. I'm going to try to prioritize Doordash this weekend because Uber has gotten on my last nerve...

    5 Uber eats driver tips
    1. Never go in poor areas: Higher chance of tip baiting/ low paying tips
    2. Never accept deliveries that don’t tip to promote tipping: Uber drivers need to stand together and force either Uber to pay more for long distance or customers to pay more to the driver
    3. Never do double pick ups with more then one location: Higher chance of mistake or impatient customer
    4. Never accept Uber during or a half an hr before rush hr
    5. Never do deliveries for Mc Donald’s. : Food is always missing items or not ready. employee service is terrible and the customer is too.
    Bonus tip. Stay away from hotel deliveries unless the tip is high. They will make you go to the 10th floor for a $2

      The McDonalds' in my area are great but I do agree with the hotels. Can't see the address in UE until after food is picked up. At least DD shows the exact address in the widget but you gotta be fast enough to check it before you accept. My UE app doesn't tell you how much the tip is, DD I can do the math and figure it out though.

      @@SaQusKate Mc Donald’s is 🗑 just from going there myself. Mc Donald pays employees $13hr and it shows. It’s like a under the stairs work program for retarded people. If all the Uber customer can afford is Mc Donald’s you are more than likely getting a long mile low paying tip. Via $4.25 expect tip for 12.5 miles. Most the orders are graffitied with customer reported missing items from this location. They want free food and for you to go the extra mile for an upside down trip. Restaurants only for me.

    The app didn't have the order ready so I had to place the order then it would get made. I used the black card to pay and the order showed a higher price than what it was showing through my app. So I reached out to the customer to inform them that the bill might reflex a different price. I got an ear full from the lady thinking I was negotiating the price. I was just trying to be nice so she wouldn't freak out if the bill was different than what she thought it was going to be. I'd have to get in my car and go meet them. Yeah, I'm not tipping for that crap service. I eventually started adding the tip before my delivery was complete because most of the time I have zero issues where I live now with them finding my correct address. However, I will deduct part of the tip if they suck. Tipping culture is out of control. Never in my life did people expect gratuity BEFORE the service was complete.

    The biggest factor is the area/market you’re in. I used to live in NC near Charlotte. I would get an order offer on UE or DD within 3-4 minutes even during slow times never went more than 15-20 mins without accepting an offer. And I’m picky- won’t accept under $2/mile unless it was on my way home. With inflation and skyrocketing rent costs now in FL, the market is not even close to worth it. I’m a couple miles from the west coast in a heavily populated area- tons of restaurants. I can go 10-15 mins without getting a single order offer on both UE and DD during lunch and during dinner rush maybe one offer every 4 minutes. And the offers are not worth it. 5 miles for $5.25? No thanks. Oh $9.25 but 11 miles nah. $4.25 for 2 miles. Still not worth it! That whole ordeal will take about 20 minutes still depending on proximity to restaurant. At that rate you’re making less than minimum wage WHILE using your own gas. The only reason I ever do it now is I run it in the background and see if I get a decent offer and accept, I will gladly take s $10 under 4 mile trip. Spark and instacart have my attention now because there’s higher earnings, less wear on your car etc. Not quite as simple as just picking up an order but more consistent in your earnings

      @@SaraElizabethYT Actually uber hides tips over $8
      Used to be pretty easy to figure out if there is hidden tip after a drop off order says pays $11.25 and after drop off Uber says the base pay was $3.25 which is exactly $8 owed. Then you will more than likely (but not always) see a higher tip after .
      Uber these days are starting to show full pay at least in my market, Atlanta.
      But the $8 rule sometimes still applies as today I had on say payout was $16.47 for 12.8 miles and uber pay was $8.47 ($8 diff) but ended up paying $19.47
      Only took it because was going to another good area.
      I think both DD and Uber have figured out we know what triggers hidden tip and they are changing what they show.
      Hint for DD, get that AR up to at least 50% to get better paying orders and less crap (it really does work) 70% gets you even better orders.
      I am at 76% and rarely get crap orders anymore. But I also only dash when busy and never in grey areas or it starts to kill AR. If AR starts going down then I just use my other apps and wait for DD to get busier.
      I am currently on the Large order program , pizza program and high priority (Diamond) program. With Doordash.
      Biggest tip on Large order was $78 and customer gave me $20 cash on delivery.
      LOP you need to have catering bag a 4.7 or over , a 95 completion rate and 100 deliveries in past month to be invited, so if you have those stats keep checking email for invite. I almost missed mine, glad I didn't. AR does not matter for Large orderand I get at least few of them a day 😉
