    Great video man you earned a subscriber. I have a question and hope you can help me out. The issue i am having is utilizing rotational aim assist at range. How do i use my left stick when trying to beam someone at range using an AR for example? And do I still have to track using my right stick? I have searched reddit and UA-cam and yet to get an answer regarding specifically about how to use RAA at long range

      Love to see it. Idc about the repost btw, that's fine! I'll copy/paste my answer to both that way if someone comes across the other video, they see the answer too :).
      You def still have to track with the right stick, RAA is weaker at range than it is up close. That being said, similar to what I said in the video, its a super lighttt touch. Theres a few things you can do at long range ARs. You can wiggle left and right really quickly (I do this often, especially if the person is stationary, like trying to play a heady or a wall). You can mount on a corner and hold forward diagonal into the corner (or if its a half wall, just forward diagonal in any direction), this activates rotational aim assist. If someone is running in a direction, you can mirror and strafe the same direction they are running to make it easier to stay stuck to them, you can also stand up next to a wall/piece of cover, and walk sideways into it to activate your RAA.
      I do find at long range I try to do most of the heavy lifting with my left stick still.

    End of clip shows zero tracking. I’m in the aa bubble multiple times and it never activates. I’m clearly strafing too. Am I crazy or is it not working like it should? This is driving me nuts bro lol.

      Peep my centering too - not bad right? Your videos laced me up on that 💯 see the end clip where I’m getting no AA, I’m centered nearly PERFECTLY… when I ADS, my dot was basically already on top of him, didn’t even have to make any adjustments. So that combined with the strafing it should’ve began to stick instantly no?

      @@texasmade0109 You might have missed my reply for this short in the other thread, so I'll drop it here. Listen to me. I'm going to be blunt here, but fuck what your friends say, and fuck what the people you play with say. Anyone saying 0 right stick input, is lying and/or exaggerating to you.
      Go back and watch this video, and read through every comment we've had again. You HAVE to aim with your right stick, you can't just completely let go of it and expect to hit anything. The rotational aim assist setting in cod is at 60%, if you do nothing, you'll lose the target. You have to make up the other 40% with your aim to keep on the enemy.
      Its Macro and Micro movements. Macro movements, aka large swings snaps and repositions, we do with our right stick, Micromovements, we try to mostly do with our left stick by strafing and use light touches on your right stick as necessary. But you ALWAYS have to control the recoil
      In the first kill of that short, you literally got 0 aim assist as soon as the guy slide to your left, and your lucky af that guy was already weak because all your did was strafe across his face and hit a lucky bullet lmao. He almost gunned you. I shouldn't say 0 aim assist, you got just enough that your aim trailed behind him as you strafed. This first kill is actually a perfect example of a situation where a good player will let go of ADS and hipfire aim to track the person while they slide cancel, and re-ADS once they stop sliding. You did initially have RAA when he was moving to your right (the 1st second of the clip). But you didn't track him as he broke back to the left. Essentially, he did a mini camera break on you. The distance was too close to be a real camera break, but it was enough movement to get him outside your raa bubble. You gotta aim a little lol.
      The 2nd clip. Your centering needs work, you weren't really close to him when you ADS'ed but it sorta worked because he ran into your crosshair, but work on getting your hipfire crosshair closer to enemies as soon as you see them. It would have been ok if you flicked on target as you ADS'ed but you didn't. You HAVE GOT to work on your recoil control man. If you cannot control your recoil to stay on target, you're never going to get any aim assist, in this clip you are allowing the recoil to pull way outside the persons body, that alone breaks your rotational aim assist. Practice pulling down on your joystick more until you can keep that entire full auto spray at the guys chest height. You did a good job moving left and right in the first half of that 2nd guy, but if you look at 10 seconds, when you finally try to correct your aim a little bit, you stop moving all together to do it, so when you snapped your aim in front of him, you also had 0 aim assist, you gotta move the entire time.
      Again. You need to work on your recoil control. Aim assist is not going to hold your gun steady, YOU have to do that. In that 2nd clip, you are very jerky with your aim. Even when you tried to correct for the recoil on the 2nd guy, you jerked it down, and then its like you let go of it, only to jerk it down again. You should be using smooth, consistent pressure the entire time rather than short jerks like that. Those jerks, more often than not, will go too far, and will make it really hard to stay on target and control your recoil. You should be practicing this in the firing range between every game.

      Bro I literally wasn’t even trying to use any recoil control. Matter fact I didn’t even touch my right stick lmao. I was simply showing that using my left stick doesn’t make it stick like it does for everyone else. I know you have to use SOME right stick, I know this. But from what EVERYONE says and from what I see with my own eyeballs on certain clips, it WILL stick and it WILL track a LITTLE without any right input . I know if they’re moving a shitload, of course pure left stick / RAA won’t follow him across the map lol of course you gotta guide with the right as well, I know. I was simply showing that using my left stick didn’t assist the cross hair on sticking on his body man.

      I’m about to play some more man I’ll take some clips for you showing I have no RAA bro. I can get it to work in the firing range a little bit, I’ll walk up to the center one , strafe against the wall, and the first bot will move and my crosshairs WILL follow it a little, even with 0 right stick. But in game it DOESNT do that man. I promise I’m not just dry ass lying

    This was super helpful man, thanks for replying and making the vid ! This definitely helped a lot. So, question: so u DO have to track left and right with right stick??? Everyone always makes it seem like left stick does everything and u don’t have to even manually track.

    • @xsMerc
      @xsMerc  2 місяці тому +1

      You definitely do, however it’s minor. If you find yourself visibly jerking left and right past your enemy, it means you’re aiming a bit too much. In the video I called it out as being a similar pressure to controlling your recoil. Imagine your pushing the stick left or right the exact same amount you would be pulling down if you only tried to control recoil.
      So you “snap” onto the target w/ right stick, and then you “gently nudge” it in the direction your enemy is moving to track them.
      It’s def a bit of an exaggeration to say you don’t have to manually track at all. You have to “some”, especially if the person is running full left/right. But like, you’re not trying to track their head through a jump, or perfectly follow their strafe. Your giving it just enough of a nudge that rotational aim assist keeps it “pulled to the center”. If you don’t track at all, RAA will eventually fall behind the persons movement

    • @texasmade0109
      @texasmade0109 2 місяці тому

      That also helps. Thanks a lot. When u say all that re: nudging the stick, you’re referring to the right stick right? So you do that while also using the left stick???
      Also exactly HOW/What do you do with left stick??? I’ve heard everything from left and right/strafing, flicking it in little circles , or just holding it in a diagonal direction. This all seems super complicated lol but I’m fucking determined to get it. I’m so sick of people literally being magnet locked onto my character with their crosshairs in close range , hitting every shot, seemingly effortless, while I’m trying my balls off just to hit most of my shots insane.

      I have two other videos that cover some basics for rotational aim assist and aiming in general, they are short, you should check them out and come back to this one. Called like "the secret to improving your aim" and "The truth about centering". Both are great videos on the basics. Then come back and use this video to build off those
      But yes, this whole coversation, and really the video itself, is all about how much right stick you should be using during fights. If it feels like you are trying your balls off, you are probably using too much right stick during fights, aka you have a heavy thumb. If that's the case, and you are missing a lot left and right of people (like the shaky clips I talk about in this video), you can try to lower your sense, or I would recommend lowering your ADS sensitivity multiplier.
      You should ALWAYS be moving your left stick any time you are shooting. No matter what. So long as you aren't holding 100% forward, or 100% backwards, it always has to be at a slight diagonal. Theres a ton of different strafing tactics, like mirroring, countering, camera breaking, circles, etc. But when you are just starting our, you should be focused mostly on making sure you are always holding left/right when you are shooting and while jumping. Once you have that down you can look at more advanced strafing tips

    • @texasmade0109
      @texasmade0109 2 місяці тому

      Should I be going left OR right??? Or left then right left then right etc. sorry for so many questions lol I’m just super frustrated trying to get this down.

    • @xsMerc
      @xsMerc  2 місяці тому

      You need to learn how to hit your shots first before you worry about that lmao. There is no one right answer here. There's a bunch of different strafing tactics and they are all situational. The most effective thing you can do is slide canceling towards someone at an angle (think like sliding under their gun), and then immediately hiding a fade away bunny hop back the opposite direction you slid from. And really the only way to learn which ones to use at a moments notice is just time in, reps, reps, reps. Lots of dying lol. Overtime, as you mix things up trying different strafing tactics you'll learn how and when to use the different strats.
      For right now, Just focus on making sure you are moving left or right while shooting. If I am NOT getting shot back at, I often do a quick left/right wiggle back and forth constantly. My most used strafe is probably slide canceling one direction and then hitting bunny hops back the other direction.
