Love this gold leaf technique. May I ask, what type of pencil you use to write on your paintings? I have tried charcoal pencils, colored pencils, gelatos, conte crayons etc. and they all smear, especially when I varnish them. Your always look perfect.
Always love to watch your techniques, and I borrow a few on occasion. Can't copy the work ,of course, but love having a little bit of Karen Hale in some of my pieces. Do you gesso your canvases? When you show close-ups, it looks as if the canvas may not be treated prior to your painting on them. As well, do you use an isolation barrier/gel at the end? In these times, I am spending more time trying to amp up my game with videos [a lot of yours I have seen several times!].
Thanks for your comment and for watching, Dee. My canvas is double primed with gesso. Not sure what you mean by an isolation barrier. Each of my paintings has a clear gloss UV protective finish coat.

Thanks for your comment, Valerie. I don't do real time because the audience just isn't there. A lot of what I do is repetitive and boring. I double time the videos and keep them at a certain length and even at that they are too long for most. The average watch time is 2 minutes. You can slow them down by adjusting the speed in settings at the lower right hand corner of the video.

I use a variety of things but mostly an artline pen.

Thanks, Yes, there is a gold leaf sizing, let it get tacky, they apply the leaf. I have a blog and another UA-cam video about using gold leaf.
