I really appreciated a story about an honest, nose-to-the-grindstone inquisitor. It’s not all trench coats, ordering Space Marines around, making planetary governors piss themselves, or fighting other inquisitors. It’s doing boring, box-standard investigative work in the middle of butt-fuck-nowhere space and dealing with the individual psyker and seeing where it leads. Adds some humanity to the Inquisition.
Whilst I am not a fan of the zombie fish warrior, I do miss this kind of weird stuff. All we get now are stories about the known. If there isn't a model GW can sell you, they will not touch it. However the galaxy should be larger than merely Orcs here and Necrons there. Thanks for reading this.
I love how raw this one reads. No glory nonsense, no grand showcase of technology. Just a rigid inquisitor, an overwrought techpriest, and a greenhorn psyker diving headfirst into the muck of the Imperium and colliding against a forgotten horror.
I love how some inquisitorial stories are kind of like an episode of Star Trek; only they end up killing everyone, with bolts rounds for the Emperor. This is definitely one of them.
I mean it’s the only way for a loyal follower of big E to do his duty. I just hate it when the inquisition goes and ruins perfectly fine things. They turned a entire new and developing branch of the galaxy that humanity could have used into a war torn hell hole and made multiple good space marine chapters get destroyed or crippled in the process for doing nothing aside from copying what the black Templars did but better and pretty much following the new ultra Smurf guide book.
nicely done my man, you never dissapoint. i wasnt expecting a 40k / wild west crossover to be honest but the author made it work. thinking about that ending, i cant imagine any other orders than exterminatus. a planet that so consistently gets touched by nurgle to the point that ancient alien civilizations get wiped out by it deserves nothing else, no matter how good the wine is.
Awesome reading. Love these early 40k stories, and I'm thinking that amphibious ghost thing could be the remnants of an old one psychic construct, in a kill team nemesis sort of way. Hence the daemon bashing. Or it could be a reference to the piscean warriors... Just my attempt to validate old school 40k weirdness haha!
ABP, I just want to say how much I love the intro to your videos, with the sound of shrieking artillery shells and the guy shouting “You will not falter!” I have to ask, where did you get that sound byte? Where is it from? Did you make it yourself?
This story was first published in 1990, so the lore was very organic and the young writers had much more freedom to experiment. For me this is definitely the era I prefer, but then I am an old git. I assume the amphibian warrior is a Slann.
Yup, I read it back in the day, seemed obvious that they were a Slann in some form, who were the Old Ones. Of course the lore has certainly changed since then, but I liked this little nugget.
Danielle sounds like the name of a girl that works part time at Superdrug. The last time I went out with a Danielle it was 2001 and she was an apprentice hairdresser and I wasn't dead inside.
from what i remember i'm not sure where but this story was changed the tech priest before was a ratling or two of them i think? that's why it's so odd that the tech priest isn't talking like a robot and has a personality.
Awe man, really enjoy the audio books, listened to them all, would it be possible for some more xenos audios, necrons, tyrranids etc, if not that some more nurgle ones please. Ty
Bit off topic, anyone know the name of the audiobook where an inquisitior gets stranded on a planet where rain causes access to be cut off,in the end he ends up battling an Ork that comes through warp rift?
Good story and most excellently read my good man but another story where the Squat got replaced (my copy of the book is from 1990) :( . I cant wait for your reading of Deathwing, i wonder if they have changed the armour colour from black and changed the story itself to suit the modern lore?
you have done an older version of this before right? but the voices are much better in this one i guess... or am i wrong after all? doubt... besets me... may the Emperor's light shines upon this mortal's path...
Excellent reading. The writing is a bit dodgy on this one. Apparently everyone gets a bolt gun … clips, magazines the author doesn’t seem to know the difference
Enjoy your content, Prince but you must have a new fleshlight/girlfriend because you have repeatedly promised us Blackstone Fortress content for the last 18 months but it's never appeared. Selfish.

Dude, imagin a TV show like Firefly but this.
You made me tear up a little.
RIP Firefly.

That's hilarious bill. Shatner and picard in power armour blasting xenos but not in the usual manner of number 1.

I love how in the old lore there is every nightmare possibly imaginable going on in the galaxy at the same time.
Well if 2020 has taught us anything, it's that in any civilisation, everything was fucked all of the time.
Thanks a ton for sharing the older, classic lore stories. The lore was better back then.
Sure, because the Horus Heresy series hasn’t been amazing? Siege of Terra?
@@LCErus nah not really, overwritten and #dull
@@LCErus gay. It’s alright and better than nothing, it’s just lacking in the weird, mysterious creativity that drew me to 40k in the first place.
Old lore or not, that was actually pretty solid! I enjoyed it immensely, and your dramatic reading of it was spot on. Good work, ABP!
The more lore I consume, the more I understand the importance of the ridiculous existence that is the emperor's inquisition.

@@ABorderPrince yes it really is great

The "You will not falter" sounds like a clip from the commissar in Dawn of War Winter Assault.
Blessed be the Emperor to bestow this great work among us loyal servant's of the Imperium.
This is far better than books about halo warriors SM became. Thanks for vid.
