- I visited Mountain view in Anchorage Alaska, a neighborhood known to be the most dangerous in Alaska. Gang violence, shootings, and the most diverse neighborhood in America are what this neighborhood is known for. I decided to get a haircut and found a Dominican barbershop where the whole staff is from Dominican Republic.

Wow so cool to see you in my hometown, Carlos. I grew up in Mountain View in the 70s and 80s and it was really nice back then. I started hearing the pew-pew-pew of the drive-by shootings on the block behind our house in the 80s though and it got worse after that. I live in south Anchorage now, pretty peaceful here.
Pretty soon there will be a Dominican barber shop on the moon.

When I was up Wasilla in 2001, there were what appeared to be very nice neighborhoods of homes well over $300,000 and a street over you’d have 2-3 mobile homes attached to each other and a small house built into one side, all attached. Or a area with nothing but large tents with stoves in them. All within the same neighborhood. Most bizarre area I’ve seen.
Im from L.A. which is like the homeless capital of US. We have pretty decent weather year round so its not hard to live homeless year. But being homeless in Alaska of all places must be brutal. There isnt a corner of this country that hasnt been hit with fentanyl. Sad.

Me paso a mi, vivi primero en Dakota del sur y pense que era lo mejor del mundo pero me fuy mudando para poder cumplir mis sueños, mis metas, hay gente q le tiene miedo a los cambios y no quieren salir de su estado de comodidad. You can guarantee you'll get a good haircut if the barber is Dominican I recently changed to a new barber I chose at random and once I heard his accent I knew he was Dominican and I was in good hands 😂
