David Britigan, yeah right......as rare as it was.......I was so surprised to see that they are a common sight in Seoul as common as a Sportage and Sorento
I have a base model EX Borrego, 188k on the odometer. She's starting to show her age but runs like a beast! Tows great the few times I've had to. Can't wait to see how the lift turned out!
Dude. Thank you for waking me up about this vehicle! I'm in Canada and never heard of it lol. I've been looking at importing a pajero for a daily driver, but parts are scarce here. On the other hand Borrego parts are pretty easy to find here and a diesel is pretty cheap to import. Great video btw, good tie ins, great quality, extremely informative. Looking forward to watching the rest of the series.
Yep. My parents have a 09 V8 Borrego. Hardly any issues. Not a lot of content on these. I’m going to go look at an 09 silver V6 this morning. Being sold by the original owner. Hoping I like it and we can make a deal.
Wow Pa? This might be the same car, If you don't mind sharing. I am a little worried about parts availability and regular maintenance coz the model was discontinued 10 years ago!
@@lifeofmatt7842 IIRC it was a silver base model with 127k and she wanted $6,800. My parents have had an 09 since new and have had little issues with it. We needed rear struts recently and had to get them through Kia and just this week the rear strut for the hatch broke and it looks like I can only get it from Kia. The Borrego is still in production in other parts of the world and has gone hardly unchanged since launch so Kia is still making them and making parts so I wouldn't worry too much about getting them. I think there is a V8 limited for sale here in Pittsburgh I saw it on FB.
I disagree that there aren't groups in the US that are fanatical about the Borrego. Their fanatacism just takes on a different form. Two months ago, I had never hears of the Borrego but I suddenly found myself in a postion where I needed a 4WD SUV that was relatively low milage and inexpensive. I saw a Borrego advertised ob Craid's List that fit these criteria and 23 hours later I was the proud owber of a Borrego EX. I'm 68 years old and I've driven many new cars and this may possibly be my favorite that I've ever driven! My online research has shown that many Borrego owners are fanatical about their cars, but due to the very limited numbers sold in the US, there is very little available on the aftermarket to modify ours with. But that doesn't mean we love them any less!
I bought my Borrego in 2012 because my 14 year old Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo had just developed a serious problem. I had seen the truck in passing as it was only just up the road. I was in a bind because I needed to get from Maine to Florida in two weeks. I bought it after a minimal test drive and still have it with zero regrets. It’s a base model LS without the frills but it handled Maine winters with aplomb and got about 23 MPG on long trips. It’s never leaked a drop of any fluid and the AC is still very cold. The V6 motor is still very strong. What more could you ask of a vehicle?
lol just came across this and it’s good info I have a 2009 EX V8 limited!! All I know about this car is all I’ve experienced, I just came from a trip to BAJA 250 there and back no problems over 150k miles original suspension 🤣 last trip on it before a suspension rework any tips on where to go please let me know I need info
Sir I bought a 2009 kis barraga, dumb lady I guess. Did not parts hard to get. Can you tell me where I can get rear shocks and front struts for this vehicle.? I am 71 do don't know what to do.
Probably. Back then Kia was seen as a throw away car, so they didn't look after them. Even now, Kia haters will tell you that they're cheap garbage without actually driving them. I absolutely love my '14 Cadenza and see no reason to buy something newer. My car was fully loaded, and was even better optioned that an $80k Audi A6(minus awd). I'm nowhere near the 200k mile mark and rust will take my car long before I get there.
I have 2 Borrego's, and after 200K + miles each, they have been great reliable vehicules.
Enjoy the technical parts. 09 Borrego EX AWD original owner. Keep them coming

I have a 09 , 160 k almost , love it wouldn’t trade it for anything

This is by far the best Korean fullsize SUV ever
And the only one with a V8 too
Indeed.
I plan on getting one of this in future ...I Love your reviews ..👍🏽
Yup Sir Christian Abaidoo.......it's a one for keep
probably on it's way as the rarest Korean fullsize V8 SUV too.....
Don't do it! I'm an owner of an 2009 and parts are extremely hard to find.
@@ashleyrobert4302 I have no problem finding parts, Ebay, Amazon, Aliexpress.

Going to check out a single owner 09 V6 next weekend under 120 k miles , how did yours go?
@@lifeofmatt7842 She was very firm on the price but i didn’t buy it. But it was in very good shape for the age and miles and for being a PA car.

What was the mileage and asking price, the one I saw is listed for over 8k

the one with a 3.0L Commonrail Turbo Diesel V6 with 250 HP Sir?
Look forward to seeing some off road videos. Lets see if the traction control can be improved.
The lift is finally done. Off-road videos coming soon!
@@kiadrives8873 I also found out that TRE 4x4 has a rear locker available for your Borrego as well.

I wish Kia would bring the Mohave to the states.
They should, but Kia made a deal with the union, that they won't bring it to compete with the Telluride.

Subscribed. I'm from Brazil and I'm considering a Mohave/Borrego for some time. Just looking for "the one" for me appears. I have this crazy thing.
Fun fact the designers of Audi designed the interior I got a 09 with over 200k and I’m actually looking for another one thier so good I love my @kia
I didn't know about these ended up getting the Sorento AwD looks like my v6 and that v8 is getting around the same mpgs 😫
If it only got a Hyundai equivalent too back then
and also has a V8
it might have slot above the Veracruz

I can definitely help you out. If you're on face book join the Kia Borrego group and all the answers are on there
Are 200k miles a lot for a well maintained in Kia dealer only Mohave with the 3.8 ?

I have 175k miles on my v6 and it runs strong.
The V6 is also very reliable, my 2 Borrego are V6's, and i have now over 250k on them, without any problems.
Is the reason you don't obviously reveal the "year" you are driving is because you convert it much to off road capability?
What road are you on? It looks HELLA bumpy. Or is the ride just that bouncy?
Table Mesa road, the road is a little bumpy
