Still own my Borrego V8 EX with 200K miles and it drives like day 1. In more than 10 years of ownership, I changed the water pump, 2 batteries, 3 sets of tires, did brakes 4 times, 1 AC compressor, front suspension, spark plugs twice and of course all fluids...Outstanding truck, super relieable. I will keep driving it as long as they sell gas.
My wife and juet got one for free. 130,000 miles and in excellent shape. Runs like new. Was a company vehicle owned by some family members and they did not need it anymore. I am going to convert it to a hybrid electric vehicle.
This vehicle was amazing in almost everyway. It just arrived at the absolute worst time possible. 2008 housing collapse and cash for clunkers giving you more money if you bought a better fuel economy vehicle. Hyundai and KIA made out like crazy during that time, but this vehicle just had bad timing. Had it came out in say 2012 it would have done way better.
It's a nice vehicle, and I've only owned explorers as my SUV of choice but now that they're switching it to be a car, this may well end up in my driveway someday even though I've only ever been for American made.
They must have sold like... 90% of the Borregos sold in the US in the state of Colorado, because for how few of these they moved off the dealer lots, I still see at least one or two of these every single day.
If they advertised this vehicle more with commecials and posters...i think it may have had better sales. Sucks because i actually like this truck but i wouldn't get it because it would be much harder to find parts in the long run! i wish they would bring this back!
As do I. It would be awesome if Kia brought the Borrego back to the US. I admit that the Kia Telluride is a good effort by Kia to prove themselves in the large SUV market, but I think that they should market the Telluride as a Luxury SUV and market the Borrego as an SUV for the outdoorsy types of people. I am quite certain that the Kia Borrego would be great for those who want a bigger and better version of the Nissan Xterra.
They’re bringing body on frame SUVs back to the lineup, shared with a future truck. I can’t wait to buy one. I currently have a Borrego and the Telluride doesn’t cut it for me. It doesn’t really have off road ability. It’s more for going back and forth to Meijer’s, Menards, etc. and driving down Telegraph Road than for going off the beaten path, such as at Leelenau Dunes.
@Terrence Bullock I use my Borrego for more than going back and forth to Meijer’s, Menards, etc. I actually take mine to Leelenau Dunes and other Michigan off road spots and it’s got great off road ability. Parts may be harder to find and fuel may cost more for it, but I absolutely love mine. The Telluride doesn’t cut it for those off road spots. Every automaker with SUVs need more body on frame and off road ready models. Even Hyundai needs a BoF SUV that’s off road capable, for a different group than those that want the Palisade.
I'm sure there will still be a market for body on frame SUV though not like it was before gas went up. But there are still people that have trailers and campers to tow. There nothing like a tuff Body on Frame based vehicle to get the job done.
It's funny how we say it came out at the wrong time and what not, But other body on frame SUVs like tahoe always seem to be sell , there's always a market for these kinds of body on frame traditional durable SUVs
@blacuraRL Honda could also stand some more Rear Wheel Drive cars in it's lineup.....i think the only RWD Honda's were the Acura NSX and the Honda S2000.
It's not likely but if you do happen to come across one of these on a used car lot run like the devil is chasing you! Parts are so hard to come by That it may literally spend more time sitting in a repair shop then in your Driveway. O
That's the Propaganda, Mate.. Welcome to Mind Control TV.. It's like they're saying, "hate this car".. Test drove one from the showroom, along with 8 other SUVs/CUVs.. Great power and handling. Looks nice in Black..
@heroheroic Acura doesn't have a V8. They never did. At least not one that has been mass produced for people like you and me to buy. Concept cars don't count.
Yeah, that color is one that I call "Prison Jumpsuit Orange." It is just as bad as that green color for the Kia Soul. Kia calls that color "Alien Green" but I call it "Pea Soup Green" and my mother calls it "Baby Poop Green."

Ty!
Is it the V6 or the V8?

lucky, I have a 3.0 diesel, I would like v8

I have a borrego its my first car I love it to death its beautiful and makes me happy
I just spent $3k on a 2009 Kia Borrego w 220k miles it runs just fine.
My dad had one and it was actually a really really good car!
They brought it to US at the wrong time.
This was an example was the right vehicle at the wrong time.
it would've been really cool to see what kia would've done after their overhaul in 2011
Not much. Its still on sale in other countries. As the mohave.
why did they have to kill this, it's a great looking vehicle, and a body-on-frame? let me have it!!! fuck crossovers! True SUV's FTW!!!!!!
Mopar Man we still have it on asia 2018 name is different mohave
Crossovers: better handling, faster, lighter, more roomy, better on fuel, cheaper, more headroom, better overall.
But it’s REALLY boring
@@M_773 Also crossovers: weaker in every way possible
The new Mohave looks retro yet modern and is just very imposing
This is the most underrated vehicle ever

I think I saw one 1 years ago and never seen 1 again lol, I remember the commercials. I guess they didn’t sell well
Kia Mohave is a way cooler name than Borrego.
I liked it. Shame that you Americans don't have the option of the V6 turbodiesel version.
@Kim Doo han Where do you live?
@Kim Doo han You have great taste 👌
Is it better than a Landcruiser?
It's a nice vehicle, and I've only owned explorers as my SUV of choice but now that they're switching it to be a car, this may well end up in my driveway someday even though I've only ever been for American made.
The Kia Tellurides predecessor.
not really Kia mohave is still alive in the other markets.
the 2008-present Kia Borrego is assembled in
Hwasung, South Korea
Kaliningrad, Russia
Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan
Almost bought one new, and should have...
@yynotnnh The 4.6 Liter V8 is not a Ford Engine....it's a Hyundai Tau Engine the same engine used in the 4.6 Genesis.
Kia can make a V8, and Honda can't....... Ridiculous.
Honda *won’t* not *can’t* 😤
I believe Honda made a V8 from 2006-2008.

I bought a borrego not to long ago it has over 200k miles and works amazingly well. Annoyingly though places like O’rileys wont touch my brake lights
so weird lol. they're not hard to change haha
Same! Can't find parts anymore though :(
@@codgodshotu You should be able to get most parts. the Kia Mohave lived on in other countries, it’s still being made and sold in South Korea.
I saw one of these in front of me today. I honestly never saw one before.
I saw only a few of these in New York recently. Not anywhere else (except Ohio and Florida)
I really want one of these for my dad, and he doesn’t like Kia because 90’s

Does anyone here know where i can get some 2009 Kia Borrego Headlights at ???? I need help. Please.
Ebay. These suvs sold pretty well in Korea, so there are parts for them, you just gotta import them.
Aliexpress

@soyntgo4it What happened to it? It seemed like a monster (and I have a Dodge Hemi Durango)
Looks a little like a big Subaru Tribeca
Looks fantastic.
@YunSeung Of course it does. Not totally, but most parts do. It looks nice though.
Just how many of this was made total? I got the limited edition verison of this and its black. The engine looks different a lot.
Same, as my first car...
It's said Kia only sold this truck one year n America. I would love to have one but people don't keep suv and minivan clean and they smell like kids.
***** We have one with a V8 it's been a good SUV. No real major issues.
My grandpa always keeps his (2002) Chevy Trailblazer clean..
I just can't wait what the next model would look like.. And the Standard Equipments!!!
we have one of these with the v8 its amazing.
WONDWERFUL !!!!
@blacuraRL Honda could also stand some more Rear Wheel Drive cars in it's lineup.....i think the only RWD Honda's were the Acura NSX and the Honda S2000.
Now we have the Kia Telluride.
Kia mohave it's powerful vehicle.
@blacuraRL But they do. They also own Acura.
No Brasil o nome dele é kia Mohave !
ho my car is in my borrego 2016 this is kia borrego 2009 i'm korea is my borrego
i'm mohave
Oh!that is MOHAVE
I wish it got better gas mileage
10 years later we now have the exact same car now called the telluride
I've seen a few on the road lately. They definitely look unique compared to others.
Not even close, the Telluride doesn't have a v8 and isn't body on frame.
Telluride is another car, Mohave stills selling in other marekets.

The Telluride should have been fitted with kia’s v8 instead of a weak v6
And let the Borrego and Telluride exist together. The Borrego today would have the 5.0L Tau V8 if it was still sold here.
What were thinking when they named it...
@blacuraRL And I own the most expensive Acura they make, the flagship RL. It only has a 3.7 V6
Borrego is korea name is mohave
@heroheroic Acura doesn't have a V8. They never did. At least not one that has been mass produced for people like you and me to buy. Concept cars don't count.
@form109 I suppose, but really they're one in the same. A disgrace nonetheless on Honda's part :)
@form109 Agreed!
It actually doesnt seem that bad, but Id still wouldnt own one over a Sequoia or Suburban.
Zach Davis why?
I would choose either the Kia Borrego or the Toyota Sequoia, but to each their own.
It reminds me of a 1990s Jeep Grand Cherokee
I want to trade my 2010 Kia Optima in for this
Did u?
@blacuraRL it's a Hyundai Engine.
Hyundai and Kia are the same.
@@74Dyenamo Hyundai is the parent company of Kia but they operate independently
Why would KIA name a car BORREGO!
BORREGO means goat in spanish, and its an ugly word in spanish to say the least.
This SUV would look far more attractive if Motorweek hadnt featured it in that disgusting orange paint color.
Yeah, that color is one that I call "Prison Jumpsuit Orange." It is just as bad as that green color for the Kia Soul. Kia calls that color "Alien Green" but I call it "Pea Soup Green" and my mother calls it "Baby Poop Green."
This was Kia's biggest flop in the United States. It was pulled off the market in just one year.
Looks like a 20 years old video. Very poor quality. Yucks
@soyntgo4it Damn you crossovers....
I think it kinda looks like the 2002-2010 Explorer
I dont think I ever saw one of these. Looks pretty generic, so could be why.
💪💪💪👀🔨
Kia 🐐 jajajajajajaja
Su nombre original es mohave por si no lo sabías. Y aún se fabrica aunque en USA no lo vendan.
