    To all the people saying he is a purely positive dog trainer, he isn't! he uses an array of methods, not just positive reinforcement!!

    He did use shock on past dogs, but no longer does. Moving onward and upward! Just becoming a better trainer as he comes to understand his dogs rather than just trying to force them into compliance. I salute you sir.

    Ok I'm glad that you have made this clear to me because i have heard that he doesn't use an e-collar. Now I know that you must use some sort of compulsion when competing at a high level even in a low stim. With the e-collar...thanks for your reply. Does he have a website that I can go to..

    Inspirational! My Kelpie cross follows me at a nearly perfect heel (only 5 months old), I use strictly positive reinforcement with my dogs. Hopefully one day I can teach her how to do half of these commands in this video. Just wonderful.

      this guy isn't strictly positive reinforcement btw. Despite what people are saying, I've seen him use many other methods

    Mario does use an E-collar only just like Bart Bellon, low stim training. Training in top levels need to be black and white, right or wrong. But the way you teach the basic exersize will be done fully in a positive manner.

    Yes, indeed. Mario is propably the most gifted dogtrainer in the world. It is not a coïncidence he manages to be 4 times worldchampion.

    What is the dog running toward at 10:18? Where is he trying to go and why? I get the point of the send out exercise, just curious what is motivating the dog toward that spot.

    Does he compete against other breeds or is this just Belgian shepherds?

  • @BoldogKennel
    @BoldogKennel 12 років тому

    You do not NEED to subject your dog to electric shock to compete. Shade Whitsel is an example. There are others. The point is, he does not shock the crap out of his dog like so many competitors who THINK they are "good" trainers.

    It would be interesting to find out why an e-collar is no longer used on the current dog, considering other sportsmen are claiming that it is not harmful or stressful to the dog. Is there a specific take on this?

    • @snubblebubble4937
      @snubblebubble4937 3 роки тому

      E-collar is not allowed during competition because the dogs are expected to be proficient without them. They are certainly used during training though.

    This is a very nice performance. The dog looks very free and happy during the excercise. You can see no signs of pressure with this dog. I hear Mario has never used an e-collar on this dog and has a really nice positive training system he uses. Very impressive!! Congrats to Mario!!

    love training e- collars its just a tool just like a leash or choke chain

  • @xALifeLessOrdinary
    @xALifeLessOrdinary 10 років тому

    The attention his dog is giving should be commended. I wish I could watch those left-about turns, halts and stays in slow motion, as Mario & Hasco make it look effortless. I too train my dog only with positive-reinforcement and she loves to train... its like a big game just for the two of us and so easy to get results. I don't know why anyone would use any other method.

  • @Sanfthauch

    That's great! Here in Austria e collars and pinch collars are against our animal protection law....way to go without these "things" :)

    • @snubblebubble4937
      @snubblebubble4937 3 роки тому +2

      Most, if not all PSA trainers use pinch collars and e-collars in training, however, they are not allowed during competition because the dogs should be competent without them by this point.

  • @BoldogKennel
    @BoldogKennel 12 років тому

    These positive trainers are going to make "old news" out of the compulsion people. Dog sport should be fun - for dog and trainer. Who has a "sport" where they apply electric shock to their dog?? Micheal Vick, that's who!
