Everybody's making fun of this and I understand that the simplicity is almost laughable. But listen to what he can do with it. I couldn't pick up "a box" and create that. Creating the rhythm with the middle finger over the whole like that really does make a difference. I think it's nice to listen to.

Am I the only one who actually likes this instrument? Sure, it isn't the most advanced, but it makes a good beat and it well, is simple and you don't need to memorize a bunch of keys or strings to play it.
The guy SHARES his creation, AND more things to play with musically. HIGH FIVE. I THINK the idea IS GRRRRREAT. but I would make it another 50 % larger. Just my dos centavos.
this is the same as tapping your cheeks to a rhythm and opening/closing you mouth/lips to create different pitches. The only difference ..the Travolette doesn't make your cheeks turn red ;-)
There are always people who dislike someone sharing something interesting.. My rule of thumb is up to 10% dislikes is meaningless. Here is a new instrument , completely portable and fun to fool around on . Wish I had one.
This is one of those anyone can pick it up and play it, but it would take a life time to master all the techniques and bring them together into a cohesive symphony type instruments.
Some people are so talented being able to create music, be it a simple wooden box, a wash board or bottles of filled with water. I struggle to play the flute and the recorder. I wish you joy :)
Okay. This one is effectively a flexible-tuning temple block with hand drumming possibilities. But the sound is more mellow in timbre than a temple block. This one is original.
Awesome creative work! I play guitar, bass and a bit of percussion...and really want to get in to building my own percussion instruments... Thanks for posting this!
As someone who plays Hand drums I have to say this is very cool! How convenient would it be to just whip this out when you feel in the mood and tap on this awhile? I think it would be terrific! And, the sound is great really. For drummers of any kind who are always tapping their fingers and hands on whatever they can reach when their drums aren't around, this would be very appreciated and fun, believe me. And a whole group with these would be terrific! As well, it would add a crisp embellish to a song.
my friends were scared and exited the vehicle when i played the drum riff to fire , hendrix song in the 1970s. the cars dashboard was my travolette and the snare sound was a ludwig supraphonic sound that was amazing. the high decibels drove them to the curve. and i cant say that i blame them.
These people that build instruments are on a whole other level.
Comin for my mind
Is that a jojo reference?
@@gismosfinalform2031 yes
This is a native Indian drum - www.metmuseum.org/art/collection/search/501176
@@No-Voice-is-so-loud the drum your link references has a skin drumhead like most drums do not a wooden one like this instrument has.
I am impressed of the huge ammount of sounds such a simple instrument can produce.

Stop the hate! #TravoletteLivesMatter

I like my geetar but this is neat
Simple, yes. Agreed.
Learning to operate a whole lot of keys and strings? Needs skill and a good ear.
I think its super great as well...😊
hey! I'm from Brazil and I say that this would make the biggest "SAMBA"
COOL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This guy's sense of rhythm is the real instrument 👍
At first I was like, "What is this old guy doin tappin a piece of wood."
Then he broke it down, and I was impressed.
The guy SHARES his creation, AND more things to play with musically. HIGH FIVE. I THINK the idea IS GRRRRREAT. but I would make it another 50 % larger. Just my dos centavos.
Fuck ur dinero español pilgrim

UA-cam has a weird recommendation algorithm, this video 11 years old
I like it. Great beat and seems stress relieving. You can even take it everywhere.
Thank you. God bless

Boefkick totaly crash bandicoot
Tapping on it...
So satisfying
a lot of fun !!!!!

as well as it being louder, sounding alot less slappier, and having grooves on the side to produce a guiro like sound.
which cheeks tho 😳
@@Josuh haha funny dude 👍🏼
But saying "travolette" out loud does.
Its amazes me how music can be made on circular piece of wood. So cool.
Love that you can control the pitch and how portable it is.
Thank You, Ken
You have NO idea how much practice something like that takes...
Amazing. It’s almost like a water droplet snare. Really cool!
Thank You Kyler !

A must have.
Makes a fantastic sound for video game background music. I hope UA-cam makes this little instrument popular 😊
Absolute genius! Percussion is imagination + performance skill.

I was expecting to see the square travolette and am surprisingly impressed!! :)
The Portuguese make one.
I don't know why this is in my UA-cam recommendations 11 years after publishing, but I like it.
It’s great and very useful! Like the look and love the ribbled rim.
Thanks, Ken
Now we just need a cover of Bleed with this
Bro I thought the same thing!!!
I love it. I want some, now.
I liked your video. Your Travolette music reminded me of the Japanese music that accompanies Kabuki theatre.

Excellent! Thanks so much for sharing this. Easy to make - but lots of practice to get to your skill level 🙂
Thank You
That's basically 1/3 of an ukulele.... I love it.
The man made melody with it is what amazes me rather than the instrument itself.
This is great!!wow
Vid is ancient. I love it and the instrument

I know, but it certainly doesn't just come to you automatically. You've got to have a sense of rhythm and good control of your hands and fingers.

He had me at "sound portal"!
Tune-able, play on the edge ( good sound) sounds like a mini kettle drum easier to haul around too!

Another great use for the travolet is it makes an exellent ashtray

Reminds me off some of the percussive beats from the Akria soundtrack
