The way he managed to make a song that simultaneously has fire bars, but is also so stupid, but also so intelligent and thought inducing… like how? Half of this is just bars for the sake of bars, but he still even manages to slip in some points, like the whole last verse. This is for sure one of my favorite old of old school Bo.
But you’re right, there’s definitely a shift somewhere between his older stuff and his newer stuff. All the same elements are there, but as Bo got older you can definitely see him refine his craft more. That’s part of what makes UA-cam so amazing. We saw Bo at essentially his infancy and we can actually see how much he’s grown not just as a comedian or a writer, but also as a person. I’m so happy he worked through his mental health issues and came back for us. I can only imagine how difficult that was.

That and The Channel 5 News, are some of his greatest song-raps, In my opinion. For straight-up raps, I'd probably go with "rant".

I always took the "slip through the cracks of the liberty bell" line to mean slipping through systemic holes/cracks. So you end up working at Taco Bell, while Goliath (the powerful) makes money off of our labor and depression (the widow). But then again, I am very anti-capitalist, so probably a bunch of biases there.

Nah, you're pretty on point even from a social democrat's standpoint. The crack of the liberty bell, it itself being a well-known symbol of the original American ideals, is likely one of the only "cracks" that most people in the US at least would be able to known to exist, which also kind of gives the bar a meaning of not just a systemic crack but also a crack in the idealized image of the US itself that the bell should represent. Fits quite well as a prelude to your conclusion imo.

He free falls with style. Back in the 60s/70s we had Tom Lehrer. Bo sense of irony reminds me of him so much.
Eff and he'll of a ride are both really good rap tracks with only lyric videos, and bo burnham rant, different from the Kanye rant, is a very cohesive rap about religion. That last one is a live performance. Nerds and channel five are also good songs with only lyric videos, but not much rap in those two.

I'd suggest you check out "3.14 apple pi" it's his earliest rap that's on his youtube channel.
I would love you to hear EFF it is one of his most serious songs all through without being behind a layer of comedy.

Please listen to his song "NERDS" it has bars and it has an overall meaning. It's one of my favourites
The line about slipping through the cracks of the Liberty Bell is pertaining to the irony that according to the declaration of human rights that states "Everyone has the right to leave any country, including his own, and to return to his country."" Yet, people who choose for free movement go through the "Liberty" Bell's cracks and get treated as people who are lower in dignity.

I'm just gonna my part, for the algorhythm, by restating my vote for 3.14 Apple Pie. I think it's underrated. Perhaps the rap, of his, with the most 'sauce' all over it. like I said before, "vibey". Upvotes? Counterpoints? Curious how the rest of y'all feel about this one and why it's so overlooked.
