This is the studio version of "Words, Words, Words", and I think he probably had help/funding creating the video! But he was performing this song prior to 2010 in his years on tour before his first hour-long special, so it could have been written as early as 2008 (when he was 17). This has some seriously dense word-play, seems like almost every line has a pun or double-meaning. I think he perfected that particular kind of song with "Hell of a Ride" off his "what." album (which also has a much faster tempo).
I heard somewhere the writing for words words words could have started as early as when he was 15. I’m not sure if that’s true or not but if it is, that’s just insane!
two things about the pre-chorus (or something) "botox in the third person" or "bo talks in the third person" "came inside her" is technically "came in cider" in relation to the context of being in an apple orchard
2:16 is some of the most clever lyrics he has ever produced. A boy, a girl, a middle aged bitch, botox in the third person. I give the perspective a switch, and bo talks in the third person
Double entendre actually has a rider to the meaning that the other meaning is sexual in some way. So while some of his puns are double entendres, not all of them are.
Bo's early stuff was much more in this style of doing lots of wordplay that you'd mainly only pick up on if you read the lyrics. He's really moved away from the straight wordplay and into being much more direct. I think it's made his message more accessible and easier to take in. Cool to see him evolve over the years
Bo is a year two older than me and I listened to these songs religiously as a teenager. The fact that he wrote these lyrics at that age blows my mind. As an adult listening to these songs, that I must’ve heard 100s of times and I still pick up jokes I’ve missed for 12 years. This song is full of double meanings as deep as Greek mythology and when I was his age I was like “haha gay otter”… Fuck man
Double entendre or Tripe entendres is the word you were trying to come up with to use to explain his multilevel lyrics with several different meanings/interpretation. Bo is a satirical and lyrical genius.
His play on words has always been insane. Like there isnt many people that can do the play on words quite the way that he does.and always manages to make something stupid and silly actually serious and make you think, at least at some point in the song. Hes a bad ass genius honestly. Idk if he even knows how intelligent his works really is.. i know other people dont. Bc some of the things just in this that he says, if you dont know history or certain philosophical stories you wouldnt get the play on word joke it goes with
Great reaction! In rap, it's called "doubles" or "triples" (depending on how many meanings) whenever there's a play on words :D Look forward to some more old school bo reacts!
I would like to hear your take on Problematic. There is a certain cinematic value to watching Bo's content (both the specials themselves, and the body of work as a whole) in chronological order. (For me anyway!) He is guarded yet transparent, and just so clever. There is something captivating about watching him evolve. I actually appreciate your reactions to these quite a bit.
Bo Burnham is actually using a plethora of literary devices whether it's puns wordplay references illusions he honestly is a master of the English language as much as George Carlin which he held in really high regard. And I don't think people really notice it in his early work but by his second and third special it really starts to show. In left brain right brain he actually acknowledges George Carlin as a source of inspiration
My favorite line from this song is towards the ending of the song "Take off your bras and burn them let me burn them. Take off your bras and let bo burnham, burnham!" Its such an awesome play on words! 🥰🤣
Homonyms - words that have 2 different meanings depending on their usage/context (and he's a master in using those, you think you know where a sentence is going but nOoo)
While I don't necessarily like the content of his earlier stuff, the word play is just ridiculously impressive! The man is a genius wordsmith! I'm Bo Yo, Bo Fo Sho, and Oh Bo are also like this...just without the green screen.
This has always been one of my favorite Bo songs, so it's really cool to see you react to it. I did go to the spreadsheet and vote for some other songs I'd like to see you react to, but honestly, you should just watch all of Inside if you haven't already. I know it might not be the most YT reaction friendly option, but even if you can't post a full reaction, you owe it to yourself to see Inside in its entirety.
Bo Burnham was incredibly literate and to this day still is. And he was very well read like in one song he makes a reference to Noam Chomsky who is one of the greatest philosophers and political scientists of the 20th century and you know I'm Chomsky was aware that social media really just media in general was more dangerous than it was helpful to societies and democracies in general
Really liked the reaction! I did feel a bit miffed admittedly when you mentioned how his old work probably used to be more silly and with wordplay while now it is more thought-provoking, since he had TONS of thought-provoking other stuff back then (From God's Perspective, Sad, art is dead, etc.) butt I'm aware that it's only normal considering this was your first of his old songs. xD Gonna try to see if you've reacted to more of his stuff now!
Well this video is over 10 years ago but the current idea of a meme which in itself is a meme of itself, is that it's a popularly held belief but everyone regardless of the group
I think the only other time ive heard the flow so sick bar hit was after this with when kendrick lamar said flow so sick dontcya swallow it on tpab lmao
the video always reminds me of old game CDs of games for children where the animations used to be similar like him sliding in and out of the video at the start and the end and the arkward something got screwed up and they tried to bring it over relatable or whatever the goal was.
This song requires a freaking dissertation to understand, if Bo wasn't a comedian he probably could have been a rap god. To be fair, he is a master lyricist. Just not taken seriously.
Please keep reacting to Bo man! I know you did the country song and repeat stuff which were about the cliche country songs and love songs do the one called "Oh Bo" it's about what hip hop songs are about.
Hi, I'm new here!! I've been binge watching and I find your videos very interesting and entertaining. can you please somebody else by The 1975? or any songs from The 1975, I think it would be really cool!
It's a LOT of Alliteration (the occurrence of the same letter or sound at the beginning of adjacent or closely connected words. EX The big, bald bird. all the B's in the beginning of words is the Alliteration.)
I just joined ur channel I seen Harry styles and Taylor swift and was like wtf am I subbed to but I'm down w bo dude u should react to more of his early shit he's fire
I had the most hope for you being able to do a full breakdown at the most poignant parts, but sadly you were drawn to the most basic. Edit: you understood more than I thought on first watch, but you're not explaining why it's brilliant when you do show you've caught on....
If you enjoy Bo Burnham's work, you might like this edit I made using clips from his show "Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous" set to his song "Goodbye" (from the "Inside" special): ua-cam.com/video/iyqYtC7saDM/v-deo.html
I love the lyric “take off your bras and burn em, or you can let bo burnham burn em” always makes me laugh
Wait its bra's???? I thought it was balls 😭😭😭
@@kelskinnieWHAT NO ITS BRAS LOL
This was the song that made me realize some of the lyrical genius Bo possesses.
New Math for me. There is a quadruple in there which is like Eminem level rhyme scheme. Dude is brilliant.
Im bo yo for me. So many good lines

Yea Comedy Central produced this and the music video for Oh Bo to promote his comedy special Words Words Words
I heard somewhere the writing for words words words could have started as early as when he was 15. I’m not sure if that’s true or not but if it is, that’s just insane!
two things about the pre-chorus (or something)
"botox in the third person"
or
"bo talks in the third person"
"came inside her"
is technically "came in cider" in relation to the context of being in an apple orchard
Oh wow, good point
2:16 is some of the most clever lyrics he has ever produced.
A boy, a girl, a middle aged bitch, botox in the third person. I give the perspective a switch, and bo talks in the third person
Triple meaning, bo explodes out of the woman showing that he was literally talking *IN* the third person
I agree he had gotten more refined, but I feel this song is thought provoking as well. There is plenty of social commentary in there...
“But we guard the border and we guard it well, but some slip through the cracks of the liberty bell.”
a lot of people use the phrase 'double entendre' to describe the word play
Double entendre actually has a rider to the meaning that the other meaning is sexual in some way.
So while some of his puns are double entendres, not all of them are.
You should listen to his song "Nerds", it doesn't have that much wordplay but it's really genuine and great
Bo's early stuff was much more in this style of doing lots of wordplay that you'd mainly only pick up on if you read the lyrics. He's really moved away from the straight wordplay and into being much more direct. I think it's made his message more accessible and easier to take in. Cool to see him evolve over the years

so he was making mindblowing stuff from the start. daymn, so much catching up to do

"Take off your bras and burn them let me burn them. Take off your bras and let bo burnham, burnham!"
Its such an awesome play on words! 🥰🤣
Seeing this in 2023, just binge watched all of bo burnhams content, this man is already pointing out things i missed, subscribed.
You are literally the only reactor who got that line about then sells us the silk that the widow spins...!
I've been looking forward to this reaction for so long! You didn't disappoint, amazing video as always
Homonyms - words that have 2 different meanings depending on their usage/context (and he's a master in using those, you think you know where a sentence is going but nOoo)
he was like 17 when the song was made, video came later
3:39 I think the word you are looking for is double entendre. At least that fits with what he is doing.
While I don't necessarily like the content of his earlier stuff, the word play is just ridiculously impressive! The man is a genius wordsmith! I'm Bo Yo, Bo Fo Sho, and Oh Bo are also like this...just without the green screen.
'you can let bo burnham burn em' is my favourite line lmao
This has always been one of my favorite Bo songs, so it's really cool to see you react to it. you should definitely listen to hell of a ride
Bo Burnham was incredibly literate and to this day still is. Gonna try to see if you've reacted to more of his stuff now!
I remember being a Bo fan back when this came out and this was all we had to enjoy
You should react to NERDS. It’s one of Bo’s older songs and it’s another rap song. It’s really well written in my opinion
Thanks, Suffi. I've never seen the video before, only listened to Bo's words words words stage performance.
This is mad skillz bo)
Double entendres is what your looking for
Double entendre is the word you were thinking of.
double entendres are my weakness istg this man is so clever.
the word is BARS
Even tho this is “just” silly humor, he still managed to fit in some shots and I love it
Would love a reaction to bo's "oh bo" song
why do you look like a British jacksepticeye?
Well this video is over 10 years ago but the current idea of a meme which in itself is a meme of itself, is that it's a popularly held belief but everyone regardless of the group

In this video: man forgets the word "pun" for 10 minutes.
Double entendre is what it’s called he’s full of them
The word or phrase you're looking for "SPITTING BARS"
That Goliath line with a burger eating a taco was crazy
The word you are looking for is bars. He has bars.
There's a word for what he's doing. It's called bars son
Yes he did this all himself in like 1259 ad
This song requires a freaking dissertation to understand, if Bo wasn't a comedian he probably could have been a rap god. To be fair, he is a master lyricist. Just not taken seriously.
I think its double entendre, the word you're looking for.
He did not make the video >.< The credits read "video by Duncan Skiles & Sean Donnelly".
Dude you gotta stop talking about the 2000’s as if they were a long time ago, you’re making me feel old.
Love the Bo reactions!
Please keep reacting to Bo man! I know you did the country song and repeat stuff which were about the cliche country songs and love songs do the one called "Oh Bo" it's about what hip hop songs are about.
That's called a "bar" my friend
I think the word you were looking for is "double entendre"
He he had already blown up at this point
Do "Oh bo" next. It's about hip hop songs..
Love love him. I both envy and pity the parents of young Bo!
The word you're looking for is "pun."
Completely agree about using every effect on one video 😅😅😅
I think they are called double entendre, or double meaning.
Syntactic is the word you're looking for
Hi, I'm new here!! I've been binge watching and I find your videos very interesting and entertaining. can you please somebody else by The 1975? or any songs from The 1975, I think it would be really cool!

early offensive comedy bo was great, current bo is also great
It's the right kind of offensive comedy, where you can easily tell it's satire. It's not like Anthony Jeselnik where he just comes off as an asshole.
Bo got bars!
I just joined ur channel I seen Harry styles and Taylor swift and was like wtf am I subbed to but I'm down w bo dude u should react to more of his early shit he's fire
I think you're thinking of the word intricate
Nerds is another older track, while excellent is definitely not silly.
Comedy Central did this
Look up I’m Bo Yo he did that in high school. Talk about word play
I recommend 3.14 apple pie. Or new math!
you should listen to 'hell of a ride'
The word you were looking for is wordplay. You literally broke it up and said it.
If you like bo burnham I think you'll like his song "oh bo"
Try Nerds next
Oh Bo, Nerds and Hell of a Ride please! (I'm not having success with the spreadsheet!!)
And Rant. Thanks 😊
double entendre is usually reserved for sexual jokes, which half of these are
Is the word paraprosdokian?
check out " i'm bo yo. "
pls react to the band Why Don’t We’s album The Good Times And The bad Ones
The word you're thinking of is a "double entendra" react to Bo Burnham "rant"
New math! Please watch new math!
Please do one direction taking over zayns solos please I’ve seen that video so many times they sound amazing
*Can you please react to "MARINA - To Be Human (Official Music Video)"*
Would you please react to “Lose you to love me” by Selena Gomez? You haven’t done any of Selena. :( In fact, this one is for Justin Bieber
React to "Cheating on you" by Charlie Puth
Can you react to the song The Fall by half alive please?
I had the most hope for you being able to do a full breakdown at the most poignant parts, but sadly you were drawn to the most basic. Edit: you understood more than I thought on first watch, but you're not explaining why it's brilliant when you do show you've caught on....
