    I really appreciate your helpful video on towing upgrades. I have a 2004 gmc sierra which has a tow package. I now know what I need to do for my 7,000lb camping trailer. The extended mirrors, brake controller, additional leave spring and transmission cooler are the most important benefits.

    Putting LT tires E rated(10 ply) vs passenger rated tires on a truck will help stabilize the truck when pulling or hauling a heavy load. I just replaced my F150 tires with LT 275/65R18 BFG K02 tires and it made a big difference reducing that soft mushy sensation when hit by cross winds or cornering.

      Get the LoadLifter 5000 Ultimate Rear Leveling Kit, best $400 bucks I’ve ever spent. N the ride is so much softer on the body than the helper springs I had them, sold them to my bro than bought air bags, now he has the air bags also. Said I saw him coming lol.
      I’ve put 3000 lbs of dense grade in my truck bed and it rode level, same truck you have but mine is a 2001 z71 4x4 long bed. You can run the 5000 ultimates empty and the truck isn’t any higher than factory. Than add air when going to tow.
      I have the factory brake controller. Had the tow mirrors hated the everyday looks when I wasn’t towing. Went to a different set. I pull a 27 foot bumper pump and truck doesn’t even know it’s back there, add in a weight distribution hitch and you won’t even feel it.

    I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 work truck Long bed, color white, completely basic, crank roll up windows, vinyl flooring, Cost a couple dollars for a basic key, that's right no fob or key chip, just a good old fashioned metal key. The ignition is so worn out the key just comes out of the ignition even when it's on. Nowadays you couldn't do that with more modern trucks. 4.8 liter engine with almost 194,000 miles, bought it 3 years ago, used to be a motorcycle hauler at a dealership, then had 168,000 miles paid almost $2400, since then it's been a great truck. The brakes are very important, the older pre 04 chevys had vacuum assist brakes that are absolute garbage and down right suicidal while towing, upgrade to hydroboost. I added air bags on my 2003 z71 tahoe as well. But in all honesty, I am also upgrading, towing in an older vehicle is fine but for the peace of mind for me and my family its time to fork out the money, it's one thing being solo and dealing with a breakdown but not while you're out there with the family.

Yes WDH is not optional... it is a must and same goes for the Helper Springs those are life savers. • @luisreviews6412
      @luisreviews6412  2 роки тому

      Correct, electric fans couldn’t keep up towing in the summer in Tx. Went back to stock plus an auxiliary e-fan right against the radiator off to the right side. The e fan helped keep cool at idle, which gave me cold ac. Stock fan helped at high rpms. Hope that isn’t confusing.

  • @EnduroTainment
    @EnduroTainment 3 роки тому +2

    Get some 3.73's or 4.10's. The weight dist hitch is great. I also did an underdrive pulley to lower the parasidic loss at low rpms. But gears would make a huge difference. The mechanical gain of 300rpm at a given speed essentially gives you 15-20fl/lb of torque and horsepower. Puts a lot less stress on the trans/motor. Also tow in 3d gear with the 4l60e. Its a 1:1 ratio and will help it run cooler and more efficient.

      Can you elaborate on the underdrive pulley

    • @EnduroTainment
      @EnduroTainment 3 роки тому +1

      @@moejr14 The underdrive pulley is a smaller crank pulley that will spin your accessories at a lower speed. I got a 25% UD pulley so all of my accesories are spinning 25% less. Or 25% less parasitic draw from those accessories. AC, Power steering, Water Pump, alternator...I noticed close to 1mpg increase on the highway. Its kind of a pain to install if you've never done a harmonic balancer before.

      But I opted for the bigger radiator (34in) so I could run the factory fans out of 05- 07 model which bolt right up in the 28in radiator bolt holes, you can pick those up at any junk yard, or parts store, the wiring harness, than have the fans turned on at your local tuner shop
      The bigger radiator cost me like $150 but sold my 28 in for $130
      The fans I got for like $80
      The harness I got offline $80
      Ecm flash for the fans to be turned on and temp set was $100 but I got a tune while I was there. All said I was out like $280 and have so much more space in engine bay without clutch fan and shroud. Truck runs so so much cooler and gained a little power the clutch fan was robbing.

      That is great! I did mine just to try to get the most of it and be more comfortable, especially the big mirrors.

    Did you need to upgrade your battery at all for these upgrades

    Not saying that your wrong but you could have probably sold this truck and bought a similar year 2500 duramax and have had more towing capacity

      Jac Ersk I hear what you are saying but a diesel for me is overkill and I don’t want to deal with the issues it brings like more expensive maintenance and repair.

      I agree should be towing with a 2500 and go with a gas engine then if your worried maintenance of a diesel,,,plus would you have not only a higher towing capacity but also alot more payload capacity which you maybe maxed out on your truck,,subtract the trailer tongue weight of your trucks payload and see how much room you have left....your probably close..

      MrSnyper360 Just like to get my money’s worth out of my rides... had it about 15 yrs now, as well as a S10 for 18. Bought a 2018 Tundra last year as my tow vehicle.
