Increasing the preorder price from $1099 to $1299 means I'm out. Wasn't sold on my need for it yet, and I don't like to miss a deal or pay more than other people, so at this point I'll just wait until it's discounted at Sam's or used on Marketplace (both options mean I'll save on shipping) if I buy it at all. Don't love the Addams Family teal cab, so prob best to wait for another style to be released.

I got my 4K pre-ordered. I appreciate the fact that I can tie my games to my HD Pinball. Selling was my goal from the beginning, and by including these extra HD tables paks, which I can't use in the 4K anyhow, will help me to get a better price.

As someone who is VERY excited about the 4K machine AND Zen's partnership, I did NOT pre-order the Addams' Family machine because of the potential of the 15 CE machines. I think the biggest issue is there are just so many unknowns when it comes to the ALP 4K. A lot of questions with no real answers kept people from pre-ordering. On top of all that is a lot of the owners have seen the prices decrease lower (from 3rd party sellers) than the best NOD price from AtGames within a year of it coming out. For me personally I've already invested a lot of money into my ALP so could never get that money out of it. At this point it would be more economical to continue modding it as new solutions come to market.

I ordered the machine , SSF , and a couple of table packs. I’m sure they did fine on initial sales , but doubt they’re getting many now that the $1099.99 offer is gone. I’m glad that they told us up front that they will be releasing 15 different themed Collectors Edition machines. But , it absolutely must of hurt their early adopter sales numbers. While I think the Adams Family machine looks great , many may not , and they’ll be waiting for an Indiana Jones version , or at least some other theme more to their liking. Me , I’ll enjoy Adams Family , and just re-skin it later if I see something I like better. Glad you grabbed one for content Dubs !

The Atgames 4k pinball table is the first table I’ve considered purchasing. I’ve always wanted a table but never wanted to take up space with just one machine and the quality thus far has been, meh for casual owners. The 4k graphics and playability are such that this will fill my pinball needs for the foreseeable future. $1099 is a bargain for endless potential fun. Frankly, I’m shocked it wasn’t more. I think the model of increasing price, truly rewards motivated buyers to get the sales started. Like so many others have said, they want to “wait and see”. There’s a discount involved with being a potential Guinea Pig and I’ll take that risk.

I pre-ordered the 4k, and the SSF kit. I'm one of those people Atgames probably targeted, as someone who doesn't want to go the OTG route, and just have a plug n play machine. Installing the SSF kit is about as much modding as I'm interested in doing. If things don't work out, I'm out $1500. If I buy a 4k from someone else, it'd be substantially more.

Even if they just had the earlier prototype that Wagner had that would have been beneficial.

I was going to pre-order but backed off. I think my issue was I just realized how little I play my Arcade1up pinballs. Yes, I know AtGames is different, but the art work just didn't sell it for me and as I read it it was one flagship Zen title with 14 AtGames titles. Yes, also know you can add more later on, but details seemed thin on that. Not something I would rush to drop 1.1K on. And now with the price increase I'll sit this one out entirely, and I'm a guy that usually spends money like crazy.

Long-term, the 15 "collectors addition" tables might be a good solution to prolong interest and fulfill orders, but short-term it, probably along with other reasons, made a lot of people wait.
Monster Bash, Medieval Madness or Attack From Mars skins would pique my interest.
In hindsight, we might look back and say this was a mistake and having something like magnetic removable theme packs for purchase would have been a more effective solution.

As someone who' s put a ton of money into my ALP (control panel, LED topper, VIBS,) and already had to buy a replacement mother board when that died, I'm really disgusted that AtGames is abandoning loyal customers by not providing the Zen tables for the original ALP and expect me to spend $1200+ for a new table and make me buy all of the tables I've already bought all over again (probably for more money than the HD tables). In fact I can't believe more people aren't irate about all of this.
The ALP is already by far the most expensive gaming device I've ever owned. Apparently my reward for being a loyal customer and purchasing every game pack, an ALU, ALP Micro, ALP, Quad Play, and gamer Pros is to be abandoned and expected to fork out another $1200+ for the 4k if I want to continue to enjoy the privilege of giving them my money.
To me the HD tables are fine, I really don't care about 4k, I just want a steady supply of new tables including the Zen tables to keep it interesting.
I also wouldn't spend $1200 on an AtGames device knowing how poor their long term reliability is. As I said I've already replaced the mb on my ALP and would fully expect to need to do the same on the 4K. recommending th

    3. I sunk a decent amount of money into my hdpinball and don't want to have to rebuy packs unless there was a deep discount

    @videogamevegas 11 місяців тому +3

    PDubs,
Your perspective is appreciated by me. Dude, seriously, thank you for your insight!
I have a good feeling about this one. Plus, a person who's always helped me out and has never steered me wrong, Wagner's Tech Talk, showed this thing working like a champ. Now, of course, he wasn't able to test a Zen table, but I think the thing, beyond Zen, that really intrigues me, is this machine is true plug n play VPin OTG out of the box. No vibs messing about, no third party back box purchases, just a straight, put the thing together, and hook up your PC design (oh, and I do know there are software settings and such beyond that :P). If a product can get me to that point right out the gate? That's what I've been looking for.
Now don't get me wrong, the vibs idea was brilliant, and the third party back boxes are OUTSTANDING! But, that kind of work/setup isn't for me. Sans spending the price of a real pinball machine for a boutique build, the new AtGames 4K is right up my alley.
Now do I think the price is right? For what comes with it? For me? YES!!! I've been researching ready made Boutique builds for years now, and they've always been out of my price range, and keep going up in price, and tend to be bigger and heavier than I want. And like I said, I'm not interested in building something on my own, no matter how cheap people claim it is. So the AtGames price, for me, in my all my searches to find the best VPin experience I'm personally looking for, that ticks off enough of my boxes, and stays within my budget, the AtGames 4K is a steal at $1,099 (plus $100 shipping). Even at $1,499, it's a steal for what they're offering. HOWEVER...
When one looks at the median to highest prices in the licensed home arcade market, the AtGames 4K Pin is pretty much the highest priced product I've seen. If they could've got this at under $1,000 (and I'm not talking $999, more like $899), I believe the community at large would've been all over this. But once it starts getting into that Grand territory, they're at a brand new level. When iiRcade hit that $999 ceiling, I thought they were reaching too far, so AtGames has a hill to climb and needs to bring more than 14 sub par filler Deluxe tables to the table (no pun intended). I think AtGames has enough here to justify the price they're asking.
From the scuttlebutt I've heard since the announcement, and my personal feelings, I think these are the main hurdles I can see:
    - Selling a home arcade product at a price well over the majority of licensed products out there
    - Having people re-buy tables they already bought in HD to play their 4K equivalents on the new product. I do think AtGames did make a good gesture by cutting the prices of the 4K table packs in half during the NOD sale, but I do think they lost some goodwill from their fans by charging them at all. This has been a major problem in the industry for years, having to rebuy stuff all the time, and I don't know what the definitive answer is, but this is a huge reason some people turn to free emulation instead of opening their wallet. But for me personally, because AtGames deeply discounted a sale for these 4K tables at NOD, it's an acceptable exchange for me.
    - Not having footage of any Zen tables to show. Now, I also have to applaud AtGames here, because if the footage looked bad, or wasn't ready, that could cause harm. I would prefer not to see bad performance, but I think holding off the preorder announcement until they could showcase the MOST IMPORTANT software on the new product, might have been wiser.
    - And this might be a personal one just for me. Launching this product with arguably the worst tables in their entire library. The Deluxe line and the Natural History line (crafted with the Deluxe feel) doesn't feel like Pinball to me. It's like Magic Pixel tried to emulate what Zen perfected and failed miserably. That's not to say that some of these tables aren't at least a little bit fun, but there's a reason I don't play them over the other tables. Again, they don't feel like pinball to me. So many reused assets, sound effects, bad music that makes elevator muzak sound preferable, and chaotic table layouts just doesn't do it for me. One of the main reasons I bought the original AtGames HD pin was for the AMAZING COLLECTION of Gottlieb tables. Having the 4K launch with 14 substandard tables, with only one good table from Zen, doesn't really get my motor running. HOWEVER... Offering a store to purchase the tables I want is where it's at for me, Gottlieb's coming home!
At the end of the day, unless AtGames releases something totally different than what they gave Wagner, I think they have a HUGE WINNER on their hands and I want to personally THANK ATGAMES for taking this risk. I hope it pays off and I'm taking one more chance with AtGames.
    PDubs, YOU'RE THE BEST!

I was looking at buying a bigger virtual pinball machine from another company with 1300+ tables, but decided to preorder the Atgames Addams Family Machine so I’ll still have some money for some furniture for our home and a trip back home this fall. I think there are various reasons people will wait like, they want other skins, they have too much invested in their current ALP, they can’t afford it or they want to see if they can get it cheaper at Sam’s Club. I’m excited, but if they release 15 skins in two years, that means a new one will come out every month and a half to two months. Plus many people are playing Zen tables on their APL now with a computer. We’ll see how it goes, but I hope they sell well enough for them to keep going. And just FYI, I did a survey they had for what new skins I’d like to see! Thanks for the content! 👍🏻

Why always be negative maybe they sold a ton of them … only they know - some people don’t like Adam’s Family and are unsure of what the zen tables will look like on the new machine …. I think that the teired pre-order pricing is a bad business decision... I would totally buy this for $1,099 if I currently had room for it, but I don't. If I end up making space for it, there's no way I'm paying more when I could've had it for the initial price. I want them to succeed, but my only option is to hope this doesn't sell very well and they are forced to put it on sale at a later date.

I don't expect an upgrade on these tables for free but not giving existing customers an easy upgrade path forward with their current library is a bit of a harsh pill to swallow.

Doubt we will ever see that upgrade board. They gave me $50 off and Wave 1 delivery for preordering after the upgrade board cancellation. The price is decent at $1,099 for a turnkey 4k product. For about $750 over the cost of the upgrade board, you get a brand-new machine. I may sell or just keep the HD. This is a gen 2 product, so it should be a pretty smooth release.

As a Canadian, it is disappointing that the early bird pre-order discount price (currency adjusted) was never offered to us via our sole Canadian distributor The Brick. I wish ATGames would ship direct at least to all North America without the need for a middleman. If $1999 +12% tax is the best price I can get and there’s no savings, why would I part with my money now? Give ALL your customers the same options.

I didn’t take part in the 4K pre order for three reasons. 1) not enough info shared about the Zen rollout. If it’s going to take five years to add 15 games, I’ll wait five years to buy. 2) I’ve done so many upgrades to my ALP HD…there isn’t much perceived value in upgrading. 3) As much as I appreciate that they finally included Canada in a product launch, charging us an extra $300 over the US price really turns me off.

This should have been sold during tax return season and maybe not right before Christmas where I have to buy for other people before myself. The 4k is compelling but 60Hz? If you ever gamed on a 144hz or even 120hz system, it really makes a difference and it is one spec I think they should have gone higher with that makes a huge difference. My concern is that they will rev this machine once more with a higher spec monitor and I will need to repeat the upgrade cycle a third time. The wife is getting pretty impatient with rebuying what I already have. I’m on the sidelines watching.

I hope AG succeeds with this product and bring back the price of $1099 and even less around $990 on future sales. $1299 might scare people away (though this is a bargain compared to building yourself + the new dlc Zen studios Pinball FX tables)... I'm glad to see the incentives early, maybe AG knows how challenging it will be to sell. But I just don't see how they will succeed even with "more Skins" since Pinball might be a niche hobby...only for those who can afford & have the space. But this is essentially a dream for "all of us here", the fans of pinball who exist here in this AG ecosystem, who also own ALU, ALP, etc

Truthfully, if one were to sell their machine, having the tabes IS a huge value. Those table packs cost a pretty penny if you want a complete set. That said, the “make people more interested” move here isn’t to help people dump their purchases - it’s to let them PLAY THEIR PURCHASES on the new hardware, even if just in non-4k mode. But what do I know, maybe it’s just not technically possible.

I can see why people are hesitant. I ordered and I'm a cool with the AF skin. I also sold my HD table a few months ago in anticipation of this. I did not think this would be a $1,500 table though. I may have kept my HD knowing it was going to be almost triple what I had paid. And like someone else mentioned; probably was a bad idea (from a business sense) to announce multiple skin cabinets coming out in the next few years. Gamers are really picky about their stuff. Also this is a little bit of roulette. We don't know how these end tables are going to play. People are saying that these tables need to be 120 HZ and this one is a 60 HZ. Also no discernible upgrades except for the bigger monitor on the back glass. The plunger looks the same, speaker grills look the same, and playfield size is the same. I'm sure eventually it'll pick up steam, but this is a tough economy. People have poured hours upgrading their tables over the last few years. We'll see. Really hope by release that there's more Zen tables to get.

I am in the process of watching, so you may cover some of this - but my gut check is sales are low for these couple things:
    1. The price is pretty high. It maybe sort of reasonable, but their track record with product quality is sort of iffy. Dropping over $1k with them feels very scary.
    2. The games you own the HD aren't backward compatible. This to me is the biggest issue. People have invested a lot of money building a library of machines, it is pretty gross to think of buying them all again (or buying a new library again). Most people won't keep both machines for space concerns, but if you got rid of your machine - all those games are gone forever for you.

But really there have been so many bad product releases from some companies, that I would never buy it at over a grand without seeing what others think of it at this point. Second, I'd have been a lot more in if it came with 15 ZEN tables. Lastly, I'm hoping there is a twilight zone version... So its a wait and see, order one down the road..
