Don't put yourself down - none of us were born knowing everything there is to know about every engine. You're doing fine, but your biggest asset is that you KNOW you have a lot to learn and that you WANT to learn. I've been wrenching for 60+ years and still learning. Lots of things I was taught by the old guys turned out to be not so good, afterall.
Hot ridding in all its forms is a process of learning. I have been playing with this stuff for over 50 years and I am still learning, I really enjoy watching your work, and love the flaheads. So many great memories of my Dad.
Very cool🤙 I just picked up a handful of 2/3 carb flathead intakes one 4 bbl intake and a couple 348/409 tri power's Teflon tip: hold tape in left hand bolt in right and rightly tightly =tape in correct direction
Nice job on both. BBS has sure got a snotty idle, very cool. I see comments below about the trans noise. Have him identify the actual trans and get the appropriate fluid for it. On your RPU love that car, nice job on the carbs. Be sure your gas cap is VENTED. 28 & 29 Model A rad and gas caps will interchange but no vent on the radiator cap. Will cause running problems.
This may not be the most popular comment but watching you drive this car it seems to be VERY uncomfortable. Seating position, windshield top header in line of sight, etc. I think you did a good job getting it running and driving.
Hi maybe you should look at where you hooked up the vacuum advance, it is supposed to be, ported vacuum, which 97 carbys do not have, full vacuum will give full advance at idle and not much at cruise, not what you need. Vacuum advance is to help with fuel economy. I enjoy your videos, keep them coming.
Nice job on this one! If the owner actually lays back in that seat to drive it, he’s gotta have 4 foot arms. I personally would put a longer steering column in it with a removable wheel, or move the seat forward. As for the tranny noise, I’d asked the owner what kind of tranny it is, pick up some fluid and top it off. Since he brought it to you to do the carbs, he’ll probably want you to check that too. Go Man Go!!! Extra bonus points.
As amazing as this rig sounds and looks, I can't help but think "man that looks uncomfortable as hell to drive on long drives." Yeah, I'm old. Coffee Break sounds killer too!
Bet you could just shorten each fuel hose 4” and I bet you don’t need the bracket to keep them off the head. Been fun following along with these carb videos
@@RACGARAGE I've got some health things that are keeping me from affording an old car project right now but can really enjoy old cars through your and Kelly's videos and I really appreciate that
Not being critical but the alternator shakes like hell at idol and eventually it will break the bracket. It might be wise to make a brace to keep that from happening.
I’ll let him know and maybe he’ll do that. My one job was to just get it running, he’s more than capable of the fabrication of the other things like fuel line. I would personally
Great job on the carbs and tuning! That BBS Rod is definitely a hot rod for a young man with a good back! Who makes those air cleaner/scoops on the RPU? Very cool! Just curious, any concerns with the coil getting too hot where it is mounted? Keep the great videos coming! Go RAC Garage, keep moving forward!
Travis, I would suggest that you do something to stiffen up the alternator mount or it's going to flip the belt. It looks to me like that thing is mighty uncomfortable to drive with your back bent forward, mine is that way but 81 it's kinda natural.😄
Super sweet..super neat. ❤❤. How would a long mirror from windshield post to windshield post work out? Would this give driver a wide view of anything behind him? 😊 Seems like it would fit right in place. 😊
Travis you say you're not a mechanic but you got it done! I really like your RPU its like old fashioned hot rod. on the other hand the other car you worked on don't know what style it is you got it running great, on the video its obvious you can't see out of the windshield you're sitting on the floor no safety belts etc. In a wreck the driver could thrown out through the roof or smash his face on the windshield header. You have a wife and children please don't drive that death trap on the highway.

... alternator bracket needs to be rethought....
I came here to say this, alternator brackets will crack from fatigue with that amount of vibration.
Just needs a rear bracket easy enough
Yeah it does
Good job on the tri-carbs and the dual carbs, cheers for showing how to use the uni-sinc tool, good video, cheers.

Travis, those fuel lines would look so cool made in steel likes. Oh S/S!!!

Oh yeah it is very uncomfortable and hard to see out of but that’s part of the fun!
Cool Hot Rod, great vid!!!!!! 👍👍
Cool uni-syn tool, never heard of this before. Learned something new, thanks for the explanation
I learned about it from twin carbureted VW motors
Glad I could help

Yeah I’m also not sure how easy it is to fill that transmission haha 🤣 it’s buried

Nothing sounds better than a Ford Flathead V8!
You got that right!
nice to have a change of pace

Eh possibly, I’m going to tell him to make some hard lines
Great job Travis! 👍 love seeing the frequency of your new videos, makes my day!
Thanks so much! Really glad to be back at it consistently

The b6l plugs run better than the automates for me. Good job.
Great Video Those Are Some Cool Rides Keep The Videos Coming 👍
Thank you! Yeah I’m always up to something

Nice work ! Thanks for another , Brother !

Yeah my only job was to get it running, everything else I can recommend to him. He’s a good fabricator so he can fix any issues
Did you think about possibly going with hard fuel lines Travis? Great job on the videos! Thanks for sharing!!
I’ll let him know and maybe he’ll do that. My one job was to just get it running, he’s more than capable of the fabrication of the other things like fuel line. I would personally

It it were my alternator bracket I would but I cannot force him to pay me for something he doesn’t want me to fix 😂 but yeah it needs some help

Hey Travis where did you get the carb-to intake spacers? Love your content keep up the good work!👍
Spacers? I just have gaskets on there.
Success ! Awesome test drive !
Thank you!
Disconnect the vac when setting the base timing
I realized after that it was connected, I disconnected it

That’s an idea
.... good job....
Works out better if you I set your carbs up, air fuel, with the air cleaners on.
There’s no air cleaners on these
Is that a 5 speed? Sounds great dude!
It’s a 5 speed. Makes me want one in my car

Yeah this is a backroads vehicle only and it’s going back to the customer this weekend so I won’t be driving it long
need to fix alternator mount too much vibration
New 97 did it!
Gave that engine a new heart ❤❤and a new lease on life. 😊
Need to tighten up your belt To your Alternator.
Nice job on the BBS but doesn't look very comfortable to drive?
It's not 🤣
Money well spent it's hammer down
That rod doesn't look very comfortable to drive.
That does not look very comfortable driving. I guess trying to look cool has it's disadvantages
Exactly. It’s definetly form over function
