Lester's male ostrich Carl nearly died, his mate would only spell him on the nest at night when all the food had been eaten. They had to deliver meals to him.

We need a live stream cam on Nugget! OH MY GOODNESS NUGGO!!! I was team Jason. I just didn't think he would sit either. It is amazing. He was raised in the house & never around other emus. Just blows my mind nature took over and he knew what to do. This is so exciting. Nuggo is now a man and soon to be father! WOW! You guys are going to have a bunch of lil deputies running around in 2 months!
He heard about the Victoria Crown Pigeons' tragedy and knew he had a job to do to help his Momma human's heart. The Sheriff alerted him. (Funny that the King and Queen of the farm are not going by their name or fame.)

I read where the male emu will not eat or drink while sitting. They slow there metabolism down for this period. They will get up several times a day to move around the eggs. Nugget is doing his job well. Love watching you guys. You, Brook and Mary Carl are a delight to watch and learn from.
I sure would provide water any way. Just my instinct to provide water for everything.
If you think about it, Nugget has always shown a natural instinct to take care of those eggs. When he cleans your shoes it's the same way he cleaned and covered the eggs while Goldie was still laying new ones everyday. Whenever y'all would go to pet him he would lay down just like he would need to do to cover those eggs. Y'all thought he was just being sweet but he was doing what Emus do and practicing for this day all along. Hope we get to see several baby Emus zooming in the future. Won't that be fun!
When Peaches "wasn't afraid to walk" the other day she dropped a word in the Sheriff's ear that he best stretch because he's do for a spell of sitting. Boss Lady don't mess around y'all - even if Nugget is the sheriff😄
Jason, all the times you had your sitting down chats with Nugget while showering him with affection was just training him to be a good daddy. He learned from one of the best. Time well invested.
Not sure if yall watch Whitehouse On the Hill, but he has a few Emus and sitting as well, plus he's taking some inside to hatch. But his white male has been sitting for a while they should be hatching anytime. We all knew Nugget wasn't going to be a dead beat daddy!! Yall raised him better than that 😅❤❤❤ I hope he has at least one little one hatch, so he can be so proud of himself lol

From his very beginnings, Nugget has always been a pet. I wouldn’t have thought he would act like he would in a natural environment. It just goes to show how strong instincts are. Sweet, sweet Nugget.

Yes please get live stream cams on the goats, nugget, and the blue birds. Who will help you? I forget what it’s called, give them to you so you can promote their product. Wireless, solar live streaming. Talk to university’s, Cornell university has quite a few bird cams on during laying up until fledging. Maybe your state University would do it, you could offer a summer study program for students majoring in animal behavior, veterinary, something like that. Brook! You can do it! Today is your Doctor day, I hope it all goes well.

about emu's : It feeds on insects, grass, berries, fruit and plants.
The female adds up to approx. 20 green eggs. When the eggs are laid, it is the male's task to take care of the hatching, which extends over approx. 59 days.
During the entire hatching period, the male neither eats nor drinks.
How do they survive if they don’t eat or drink?
IT IS NATURAL FOR THEM A LOT OF BIRDS HAVE THE MALES DO THE NESTING. 😊 DO NOT GET TO CLOSE THEY CAN GET VERY PROTECTIVE. ❤

The instincts are very strong. Mother nature wants what mother nature wants. I can't get over how thin Peaches has gotten! I think it's just amazing that Nugget is sitting on the eggs. Moody snuggling with the bous was absolutely adorable!

Jason I know bald eagles periodically preen and aerate the nest and roll their eggs. All normal and necessary for egg development and nest maintenance. Animal instincts are truly amazing and on full display here. The wonders of God!🌷
