I agree. ECB videos like to use the visual of someone's head popping up from nowhere (and used elsewhere even in this video.) I feel like having Momo off-screen when Kevin starts the line and then popping in from below or from the right (Kevin's left) would have been perfect.

There is a clip floating around YT where the girls (back in the Yui days) are doing a radio interview, and they each try to practice growls and screams, and I think Moa did a good job for an on the spot attempt. I don't doubt she could do it, too. I doubt Black Babymetal will come back - their shows seem to be too short now - but that would be so cool, I think. Speed Racer live action movie was awesome - but I'm old enough to remember watching it as a kid in the 70s, so that may be nostalgia talking. I knew I knew that actor from somewhere and it was driving me nuts trying to figure it out.
It's great that you're starting to utilize some of the Japanese interview content as well, because some of the deeper/creative stuff is generally found there!
Momoko is a beast!! Her growls are amazing but i think she has really elevated Babymetal as well. Her performance in Vegas with Bring Me The Horizon with Oli was next level. All the ladies headbanged towards the end with Oli when he came center stage with the ladies. The entire place went nuts but really no one was expecting them to perform Kingslayer. This however is the collaboration of the year as it works so well. I hope they get some recognition for this as it really is that good. Think it debuted on Itunes worldwide charts at #4. 🤘🦊🔥
Hey, thank you very much for dissecting the growl portions and for isolating Momo, so that everybody could hear that it´s frikkin` HER doing it! I had a hard time explaining it to several people here on YT that you could actually HEAR that it´s HER doing some of the growls🤣 Ok, on first listening to "Ratatata" I couldn´t believe that she did it so many times, but after hearing it again, I was relieved... I didn´t hear things, my mind is still ok 🤣 Btw., you could try to find out if she did a "growl harmony" together with Kevin... I´m quite sure that she did the "LET´S GO!!!", too, and in a very "energetic" way! There is a third voice under it, presumably to give the growls a little bit more "oomph!", maybe that´s Nico, I can´t tell for sure. I hope BM won´t overdo it with Momo´s growls. It´s quite rare that she´s doing it, and that´s the beauty of it. Her growls are like vocal spotlights. Pig squeal for a new version of "Megitsune" would be hilarious, and I´m sure she could pull this off, too! Like Su and Moa she is incredibly talented, her rendition of "Headbangerrrrr!!!!" was the showcase, and it was SO lit! It´s my personal favourite of all the versions now 😄 Yeah, "Momozilla" is a new weapon in BABYMETAL´s arsenal and I´m really glad we have her! P.S.: in the scene at the karaoke lounge Momo is super cool and hilarious (again)... right at the beginning she´s like "Come to Momo, little Slingy!!!". That was SO funny 🤣The cocktails they drink are most likely "Singapore Sling".
I do definitely think Momo should add some screams, but it still needs to stay in that "kawaii metal/kawaiicore" vibe that BABYMETAL established in the first place. What gives BABYMETAL their identity is the contrast between the heavy instrumentals and the J-pop vocals. Momo's screams should accentuate the metal heaviness, but not remove their identity.
8:36 I do wonder if Su trying to train screaming would have an adverse effect on her awesome clean vocals, which as you know is a huge appeal point for Babymetal. I’m no vocal/music teacher so don’t really know. So glad we have Momo now to take that “death voice” mantle.
Floor Jansen of Nightwish can do it and flip right into Classical style singing. I believe if trained correctly it should have no impact on Su's clean vocals.
As long as the giant disco ball doesn't summon any naked people, I don't think it's a Gantz reference. Even though I thought of it aswell when I saw the disco ball for the first time. I don't know how no reactor questions or says something to the "everybody" growls. She's clearly in the picture, alone, and forming the word with her mouth, twice. It also sounds completely different then Kevin's growl immediately after. It's also a big no-go for Idols to mouth along when another member is singing, but it's probably not relevant in this kind of setting. I think if they give Momoko solo time for screams, they should also give Moa more solo lines to sing, but that's something I've been saying for 4+ years now ;)
I hope they don't go scream crazy. I would actually like to hear Moa and Momo replace more of the male gang vocals with their female voices. Cute is Babymetal!
- The "hips don't lie" is definitely a Shakira reference. - The "Fu Fu" (or more like "wu-uh wu-uh") part sounds like Backstreet Boys - Everybody female backing chorus but it's probably used way back before in more songs. - The "push it to the limit" line it could be an homage to Scarface's movie, another post disco, dance rock song with some guitar elements. - The breaking the wall scene is clearly an homage to Aerosmith x Run DMC - Walk This Way MV, symbolism of breaking the boundaries with the music genres. The office workers are the corporation and the guys from EC just don't care about their decisions. - Also one of the singers is holding up the cable with electricity during the breakdown is a reference to "The Cable Guy" movie. - When I saw the MV the first time i thought the second "Are you ready?" chorus was MomoMetal doing the backing growling but they didn't show that in the MV, although later fans spotted in the live version she was doing the backing growlings, so it was her after all, but if look for a fancam the "everybody" growls of her showing in the MV it is not on the live version, at least the one i saw she isn't the one singing that part unless it's her on a backing track. There are probably more references but I'm so far away from pop culture that i probably missing a lot more.🦊🤘🐭
The Asian actor in the boardroom scene does look VERY much like the few pictures I've seen of Kobametal (Babymetal's producer). I wonder if that's intentional and we're supposed to understand that Electric Callboy frightened him into allowing this collab.
I get the 50/50 collab comments but it's definitely an Electric Callboy vibe. Looks like Kami's backed the song live last weekend and it's way heavier IMO. Sounds more like a Babymetal song. Either way great collab.

Hello Friend how are you? All the best. I have seen Electric Callboy's video clips several times, and they are crazy good, and the wonderful Babymetal PIA 2023 concert in Yokohama is tremendous. Suzuka has reached levels of quality and cleanliness in her wonderful voice, and incredible expressiveness and feeling. For there is no better female voice. This Ratatata devastates everything, it is wonderful, and I appreciate your analysis, finding details that are lost the first time you watch the video. Thank you for your work, it helps me understand and comprehend everything I see and hear a little better.
for me as long as the growl vocal not the main focus , me think it's alright .... me really hope they not turn to become just like another " metal band ", we will see what happens in the next album.

It has the traditional elements, it has the same MV director, etc. It's the 10 year after new-version of Megitsune. Ironically, Megtisune live is often performed in such a way the growl isn't used much either.
I think the problem is more she is not allowed. Her voice is simply to valueable. She is not their secret weapon, she is their main weapon. While Moa and Momo have some punch they have not quite the power of Sue.

I forgot to add, in the quote from Moa, read by Alan, she and Su- have tried to do metal screaming.

In the case of professio El singers there are often insurances involved. And you don't want to know how many have a no growl clause involved. Or in other es those are onl lessons their teacher gave them

Will Ramos from Lorna Shore, Tatiana from Jinjer and Courtney LaPlante from Spiritbox are probably 3 of the most popular right now. You also have Alissa White-Gluz from Arch Enemy and Phil Bozeman of Whitechapel
Well I dudn't get a reference to Gantz but to the movie Sphere. If we consider that it was filmed in Germany I would say the Anime Reference is rather unlikely. Momo did multiple screams but it is sometimes difficult to differentiate bezween her and Kevin, when they growl.

Your voice naturally degrades overtime, it can speed up the process. Harsh vocals also come with some small amount of risk when trained as well.
