March, like the other Months, is divided into three horizontal registers: the upper one with the triumph of the month's patron deity, in this case Minerva; the central one with Aries, the zodiac sign of the period, and the three decans; and the lower one with scenes of Borso d'Este's government. The upper register is, as always, divided into two different conceptual and symbolic registers: the first, more evident, is mythological; the second, concealed at first glance, is alchemical.
