Sup everyone, welcome to my channel! This video is about the history of the Douglas DC-6 operated by United Airlines from 1946 to 1970. This will be my 92nd and final fleet history video, and even though I didn't make my goal of making 100 fleet history videos, I still have a lot of fun making these series over the course of four years. I thank y'all for joining me on this journey of how Ibirdball, Scaring Crab and other FH makers inspired me to do these series that I, at first, did not nail so well (my first FH was a Singapore 707). So yeah, hopefully you stay stuned for my other upcoming series in this channel after I have completely moved on from this. I hope you enjoy this video :).

I only flew on a United DC-6 ONCE in August 1960 just after they absorbed Capital from Rochester -Buffalo- Chicago (O'Hare- Milwaukee THE WHOLE WAY. It was an old simple all coach DC-6 with a cold plate meal service BUF-ORD, but it got me to MKE with reasonable comfort,

According to the book, United (The Main Line Airway) by the late George W. Cearley, Jr., "On April 27, United inaugurated transcontinental DC-6 "Mainliner 300" service between New York and San Francisco making a stop at Lincoln Nebraska. Westbound flights took 11 hours and eastbound, 10 hours."

Flew on a UAL DC-6B MBS-DTW and back, September 1967. A classic airliner.

I've actually been on a 3 year hiatus with the series, but up to this point I'm, for real, not doing it anymore. This is a delayed project I was gonna upload in 2022.
