As gangster as Freddie is, he always give me something to cry to. Insecurities, Sing For Me, and now this. With the legend Donny Hathaway on it, can't go wrong.
@@treytaylor1511 Not a problem. If I was able to post a picture of It on UA-cam, I would. Yes I saw another music page stating that Make It on your own was In 1978(Spotify I believe). But I have the box set In my hand stating 1974.
I feel like they did Mr. Hathaway's composition justice with this presentation. Don't think you should try to follow this unless you really know what you're doing.
Naw Deeper was just a story he made up. The first verse of practice is about Freddie cheating on his bm Erica with a stripper. This really happened and is why they're no longer engaged.
The sample is so beautiful, off rip I knew it was Donny Hathaway cause his voice over a beat is enough to make me tear man... Madlib knew what he was doing with this one

Man, this one hits. Beginning of 2020 I had a shroom trip to this album and was gonna change my life around but when covid hit I went back to my old heroin habit even after detoxing. This shit hits even harder next year man
Madlib is a dangerous man. He's capable to make you fall in love with a song in such a disarming way and to make you want to create on your own. He's a national treasure. Hope folks realize it while he's still with us.
Just depends, feel like Pinata’s production was even better than this (production on this was amazing tho) but Gibbs’ lyricism improved massively on this one
"If they really loved me, they'd be keeping me from it, keep it a hundred. How you complain about the price when you gettin' everything fronted." #BANDANA #ESGN #IndianaHipHop ....this track is FiiiiiiRE!!!!
This song touches my soul every listen! I knew nothing about Freddie before this album. This took me thru as much of his old catalog I could find and made me a huge fan! Just wanna thank you personally for this masterpiece if your reading Gibbs. And sorry for being ignorant to your greatness. Love and blessings to you and yours king!
Mike Harris what do you think? I’m genuinely curious, why do you think Piñata is better? I love Piñata and think a couple tracks are much stronger than any on bandana. Tracks like thuggin, Scarface, deeper, shitsville will always be classic but bandana is a more consistent, cohesive album imo. Madlib is showing his experimental side as much as ever. And Freddie is more developed, tougher and emotional. I can’t confidently say which one I think is the better album
I haven't been able to play the whole album yet because I got stuck on this amazing tune. What a story told over that amazing beat wow. Hip hop at its best. Great MC with a great DJ equals instant classic. Amazing
Deeper Pt. 2! I need a video for this classic! Madlib is definitely in my top 5 of producers! His production and love for different genres of music holds no bounds and he’s definitely carrying the torch for Dilla!
This song too dope. It feels like the instrumental is the song and Gibbs is the background. Especially the 2nd verse. My musician brain just focuses on the sample
Freddie Gibbs so nice I slept on him for so long only started listening to his madlib projects like half a year ago and they are fucking amazing. Pinata and Bandana are masterpieces. Any recommendations for his other albums lmk
@@powyyyyy oh I know madvillain that’s how I found out about lib. Ngl I think I like some of the stuff off piñata and bandana more than madvillian. All amazing stuff
This is the reason I love Hip-Hop. Something about someone just spilling their guts over a top-tier beat is so sincere and touching. Man, this album is GOLD.
Let me straighten this up, I was being sarcastic when I said Madlib is the greatest producer ever. Truthfully speaking he is. No one makes beats like this. Besides the late Dilla, his beats are like discovering a new sound.
Does anyone else play this song over n over? That smooth beat, those in depth lyrics, Bandana is timeless already shiiit
Already...
I have it on repeat once I'm working
Yes
played it back about 10 times today before i even read this comment. you are spot on
Ten times a day for me... Give or take
Every beat on this album is top tier
this an underrated one
I am so impressed and happy with all these beats
On a gah damn iPad
You don't know shit bout beats then homie
I mean he’s the 2nd best producer of all time 🤷🏾♂️
This shit make me wanna shed a tear Gibbs has a special way of being transparent with his pain

Broke up with my girl a few weeks. That part just hit me hard.
All this time I thought it was “there is no reason to live without love”
That pause hits so hard. Little details like that is why Madlib is the best in the business. Just wow. Knocked this album out of the park.
Calm down. This album is a classic, as was Piñata, but best in the business? Absolutely not. He’s up there, but he’s not the best. Just no.
madlib been doing this since pinata?

oh shit i had no idea, i was mainly speaking in terms of the tone of his voice and the way the beat sounds. thats actually really interesting though
I’d say this is more on the tone of Shame from Piñata
Even though this is a true story in a way this track reminds me of 'Fancy Clown' from 'Madvillainy'. Lyrically and sonically.
