Can you imagine, fewer than 10,000 users loading low-res pictures two at a time, entering a single input, crashing a network? How far communications networks have come.
It's a lot deeper than that. Why do you think they want you to let them know your likes? The aggregate of everyone's likes lets them know what to feed us (or not) to get what they want.
"this is pathetic" - from female who probably went on to swipe left for thousands of guys saying "all these guys are pathetic " Hypocrite college females
Trent and Atticus really outdid themselves on this one. Fincher, Sorkin & NIN make such an insane team, I really wanna see them get back together and do like 10 more movies. I don't care if it's on pottery or something, it would be amazing.
Bandwidth i guess meaning the server hardware behind the LBs. if they cant handle the total amount of traffic anyways it doesnt matter how much the LBs divide it.
definitely with bandwidth, load balancing usually comes afterwards as they try to reduce the number of tasks and processes needed. If you only have 100 jars and 200 people, eventually, you run out of jars no matter how you slice it.
Lot of packet queueing at the router due to not enough bandwidth, leading to packets being dropped. They would ultimately have to shut the kirkland host as otherwise it would not let critical systems within the harvard network work as expected.
Let me get see if I understand this, A computer science major asking an economics guy about an algorithm but later it's found that the economics guy doesn't know anything about computers?
Yeah why would any girl dance provocatively for the extremely wealthy elite boys... This never happens in any nightclub... Everyone dances the waltz and has appropriate distance from each other...
I could watch this film a thousand times and not get bored
Thats saying a lot about what kind of person you are.
Yeah specially this scene!!

It's been years since I've seen this movie, but this is the most Trent Reznor soundtrack I've ever heard.
"I need you."

The fact that they created something that basically took down the network due to unprecedented user load of network requests is hilarious

Such a great scene to show how the idea of Facebook was successful on a huge level from the very beginning. Beautiful story writing.

So would this be an issue of bandwidth? Or load balancing?

The kind that don't talk to you.
The ones that want more drama

You know John has the algorithm. It’s his. You will get sued by NSA.
I did this in my uni with a python script and react. I'd play with my friends in class but never made it public as I didn't want to get expelled lol

The girls stripping and dancing is so cringe, why does Hollywood think this is necessary? I'm pretty sure that didn't happen
I would guess its to add to the situation specifically cause it is judging women’s attraction. But eh.

Kind of ripped off HOTorNOT
Actually, that shit never happened, They might have used hot or not as reference. At the end, everything about Facebook is stolen.
