It's genuinely hilarious how simple yet game-changing this is. Thank you, Ian!
Watching Ron Jeremy’s effective intro tips is cool
Quite possibly my absolute favorite comment of all time😂
@@StichMethodGuitar Cheers bro. Loved the video!
Yeah man it really is.
Number one all time comment
Thanks Ron!
My God this guy comes across as really wholesome and genuine. I just want to drink coffee with this guy and get him to talking while I hit a bowl.
Anytime.... anytime
@@StichMethodGuitar you're good people lol
What state do you live in... I’m touring the US in my RV as we speak

I will let you known when and if.... rock on
One of the simplest video setups on UA-cam and yet one of the best contents. Thank you.
Best guitar tip i ever heard. Bravo ! Brother.
You are an excellent teacher !! I don't know if it's how you exsplain things or your personality.... It just clicks.
I see that a lot with lead parts played over the rhythm guitarist's chord progression. Thanks for explaining the possibilities of this as an intro.
Been working on those top string triads. Again - why oh why isn’t that taught right away to beginners?
Feels pretty good to have stuff like this confirmed by an accomplished musician.
Dude, you just gave me an “ah ha” moment and removed a mental block I’ve been struggling with for a long time. I might just get that song finished now!
When it's finished up load it dude so we can hear. Original music is always a treat.
Your enthusiasm is infectious, band your tutorials are extremely useful. I'm getting into songwriting, so any hints/tips are very welcome. Looking forward to going through your other videos. Many thanks, my bearded friend. Greetings from Scotland 🏴
I remember thinking Weezer's Island In The Sun had a cool little intro riff, turns out it's just the 4 chords from the verse using voicings on strings 1-3.
I’ve used a couple of similar, related approaches for intros in my songs. In one case, I used the melody from the last line of the chorus, and played it by arpeggiating the underlying chord progression. Since this was actually the end of the chorus (though the listener doesn’t know that yet!), it leads right into the verse. In another case, I played a little pentatonic riff on the low strings a couple times through, then came in with the chords and vocals. I repeated that riff later after each vocal line. Though I originally wrote and performed the song on acoustic guitar, when I later did it with a band, that intro (and the riff in general) became the bass player’s line, which would occasionally be doubled on guitar.
Do you have an example of you playing this? I'd like to see it, if so.
@@JeffintheD as a matter of fact . . . Tonight I performed a few originals at an open mic night and I live streamed it on Instagram. I’m not sure why it’s rotated or how to fix it, but here it is. instagram.com/tv/CO1cMOSlGnh/?igshid=1ndre4gf0jn79
@@KevinIlsen thanks man, I enjoyed that video. Must be fun to stand up and play for people.
I do the same thing.
Maybe the happiest and nicest guy on the guitar tutorial circuit ! Anyone who is practically laughing through their instruction is the instructor you want!
Very nice! Lessons like these can easily kick start someone’s song writing aspirations. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel. Great video, man.
The most beautiful things are simple things
Just what I needed, thanks so simple.
Great tip and explanation. I’m playing an original song in front of about 150 folks in two days and I’m absolutely going to use this to spice up the intro. (Nothing like last minute changes!) Thanks!
In few words; This is Gold!!
Great lesson stich ...what really fun is I see all the 1st 2nd 3rd string triads shapes the chords G & A to the cowboy chords ....great lesson ...great fun to improvise ty
First example sounds a little like " Drivers Seat " . Some nice idea's . Thank You .
Bro ur smile is contagious it’s awesome ur teaching us all while having a good time ❤️
Just came across this video and have been poking around at guitar for many years with little improvement. I'm hoping your videos will help. I especially appreciate the enthusiasm and joy you display in this video. Thank you & blessings to you!
Simple but really well delivered. Thankyou, sir.
My brother I just found your channel and wanted to say thanks for the video and I love your energy. New sub.
Dude. Im learning to play the uke not guitar but am getting so much from your vids just but the way you explain things. It’s too bad it’s so late at night I got so many more to check out haha
You deserve a nobel prize for these lessons
Awesome lesson. Simple but powerful. Thank you.
this is grrrrrreat!!! So simple but so very helpful !!! Thanks so much for bringing this to light ;) ❤
Love how understandable and applicable your lessons are, thank you!
Reminds me of The Seekers song I'll Never Find Another You, check out the intro by the guy playing the 12 string. Good lesson Stich
This is so satisfying to my brain tyvm
that's what I love about the guitar ...you can go any ware !
Well dang, I feel like I should’ve figured this out. Thanks, brethren! Absolutely golden lesson. I saw your buddy playing one Elliott Smith’s guitars. He looked like he was about to cry and I get that. I def would’ve.
love the fundamental review! Always something to learn! Thanks!
I used it, it worked. Thanks
Hooks are great too.. as in "Something" by George Harrison "Reelin' in the Years" Steely Dan, etc..
What is a 'hook'?
Great Lesson. Thank You
👍 You can also do that when playing with other guitarists so you all don’t play in the same register. Or play inversions from the others, etc.
That was why Slash didn't ;like jamming with Buckcherry. He said they were just playing the same thing he was lol
This resource is used a lot in metal music, you have a riff intro with lo-fi eq without drums, and the chorus is basically the same but more energetic
That's a beautiful guitar.
Good advice as always! Thanks and safe travels.
Thanks for sharing, explained very nicely and you said it simply! Awesome Stiich
Just discovered your channel. Your lessons are a bit out of my talent range but you seem like a cool guy and I love what you're doing!
Thanks man, just getting ready for tomorrow’s video launch. Enjoy the channel!
A great tip Ian, thanks and happy holidays/vacation/road trip ...
Thanks you so much! This helped me a lot!
Great lesson! So happy to have it found. Every guitar player should know these chord alternatives. The chords in this video remind me to Eric Clapton's Let It Grow!!
Great and yet simple concepts. Thanks for sharing...subscribed.
Ive been using a Danelectro U2 for this purpose,it goes great with the acoustic parts : )
" Oh Geez Louise" LOL it was funny ! but this was a really helpful tip thankyou for sharing
Many thanks, simple, but quite lovely and very instructive.
Great content. I've played bass for a little while, now picking up the guitar. So helpful. Subbed.
First visit, new fan! Thank you 🙏🏼
Great video, great teacher, I have stumbled on this myself, so effective especially using the d shape on the lower strings in a key if d song, this was super enlightening
Yep, you nailed it...Thx...
I love little songwriting tips like this!
Thank you for the tips man. This helps in more ways than one.
You are such a kind person many many guitar lessons but there is a kind way you got it
You're a great teacher, thank you
Great lesson. Thanks
Subbed...I'm a naturally gifted guitarist probably in the vien of hendrix all the kings Rory Gallagher. ..they all had a hand in showing me what to do...I like dropping past these type of pages as I may learn something I hadn't already had come to me when I was in my training phase...I've subbed I reckon I may learn something. ..highly unlikely but I never know...
Thank you for this! Really helpful :)
Great video! Shows the infinite multidimensionality of music!
You had me at cake 🤤

Nobody is happier than guitar theorists theorizing and sharing that knowledge.
But that means you’re not as happy ☹️
@@StichMethodGuitar Oh don't worry, I'm right there with you.
lol thanks this is just the kinda trick i need to hear
Thank you, Ian!
Wow so obvious I’ve never even considered it great quick lesson
