Sean! I absolutely love that guitar! My favorite colors! I have always been in love with the ocean! I grew up down in Boca Raton by the ocean. Originally from San Diego. I’ve been in Ocala for 12 years.
Between the factory neck shim and virtually flawless box it arrived in, that thing screams “RINGER”!! Any plans to spend the relatively few bucks on one to find out?

I'm the guy who had the good fortune of buying this guitar from Sean. Let me tell ya, this is the smoothest guitar I've ever played. Now I'm mostly a rhythm and jazz guy, no shredder by any means, and this fits my needs perfectly. Thanks to Sean and Kathy for everything you do on this channel.
I have to admit, I bought a Leo Jaymz Les Paul copy and it was well worth the money ($179). Setup was spot on, neck was flat. The only thing I need to do is address two sharp fret ends.
People always say that about sharp fret ends never had that problem on any guitar I ever bought I don't even know what they mean by that anyway it's not a hassle to break out a nail file and take the fret down s hair...
As a gigging guitarist of 13 years now for 3-5 gigs a week, I think you should have a tone knob. I don’t want to dial in my amp differently just to accommodate this guitar. Having said that this guitar was epic! I ordered one after we demoed it. Can’t wait!

Trey and Sean tearing’ it up! 🤘🏻🎸 I agree about the tone pot. You gonna put one in? Most players want it right in the guitar. It’s a very small group who don’t want it. A tone pot really does cut the high end from sounding too shrilly. A tone knob also makes adjusting on the fly easy because most players don’t sit right on their amp to play with those knobs - and if you’re using pedal/cab sim on a computer, you’re not usually sitting close to that either nor do you want to start fiddling around with apps while you’re just aiming to jam. It’s much better for Leo to just install the knob. Whoever doesn’t want it can just remove it - most players won’t buy the guitar if they have to start installing one. I mean, people watching Scarred usually won’t mind trying to do it, but I’m talking the vast majority of players. Most modern shred guitars seem to have both a tone and volume. Or better yet, Leo can offer two versions: one with the tone knob installed and the other without it. That would make everyone happy! 😊👍🏻🎸🤘🏻
Hey now you have got me thinking. A little cut off switch going back to the tone knob could do the same for people wanting that top end shrill, and then you can turn it back on and bring it down for your next tone you want. Now that sounds scarred lol thanks for getting my brain thinking 😂
I got the blue flame monsoon and swapped the nut for bone and it's just as good as my $1000 and up guitars. Sounds great, plays great and looks killer. Swapped the nut cause I was having tuning issues. For the price it's incredible
That explains why the humbucker is SO bright on my FFST! It doesn't have a tone control, and just being there it takes out some of the bite? See, you can learn something, even when it's a different guitar. BUT... YEP, NOW I WANT THAT GUITAR! LOL. The coil split sounds GREAT too! Missed opportunity on a selling point Leo Jaymz. You should throw Sean a big bonus for pointing that out, fixing it, and demonstrating how GOOD it sounded!
I did buy a Monsoon back last year...I have the purple burst quilt top and the same pickups and neck. I also bought 2 Leo Jaymz flame maple necks and converted one to Floyd Rose and one is currently being used in my black parts caster with Musiclily alnico 5's and it ROCKS. The necks are not grade A+ by any means, but they are very very good.
Awesome! It shreds too, thanks Trey. Thanks Sean for another fine video, hopefully more people will not be so reluctant to tear into these budget priced guitars.
Leo jaymes alright by me, I got a tele kit with humbuckers and tremelo off amazon for 80 bucks . No fancy top or nothin .but mahogany body and roasted maple neck.and she plays and sounds sweet, Thanks again bro,
I can see from your volume of patrons that you likely won't get back to me. I just joined your channel last month. My cousin is a well known guitar player. He was Ibanez first professional endorsement. I have been playing since the '70's. I have seen my cousin play live over 500 times in 50 years. 50 years and 2 days to be exact. I build also. I have absolute respect for you.
I have the purple one, great bang for the buck, only had to stabilize the bridge pickup which was a little wobbly...Came with a .010 set so put ,009's which is my preference for Strat scale guitars...Also have their single cut LP style & just had to raise the pickups a bit & put on new strings cause one broke...As good or better out of the box than the $400-$800 name brands available...
Hey Sean can you make a video of adding that tone pot to one perhaps? that would be a nice mod and we could see how you would go about adding it, wiring it, measuring where it would go and why, etc.
I have been interested in this guitar. Seeing a second opinion. Has me sold. Thanks man. I trust your reviews because you go deep. The things I wanted to know? You show it up close.
I have a $1400 Kiesel, original 1981 Gibson LP Custom, five Jazzmasters (one an original 1963), a Jim root signature Jazzmaster, Schecter Sinister Gates model and fender strat, Rickenbacker and an ESP Signature KH Quiji board model. With all that being said with all these expensive and nostalgic guitars that I own this guitar is worth significantly more than a measly $170 that I paid. I’m going to sell some of my guitars off because I don’t want them any longer nor have the room But whichever one I sell off I will buy a few other models from this company makes. They’re really not bad at all what so ever. If some artist could start playing these and get the model recognized they’d sell all day for $600+.
Great video Shaun, that looks and sounds really good i agree with you needs a tone pot, great playing by you both, luved it Cheers from across the pond 👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very interesting, I didn't know that you could use a push pull coil splitter on a volume pot like that. I do agree with you about having a tone pot because it does give you options and you have the choice to use it or not use it.
Yeah, I love my Monsoon and I haven't even replaced the strings on it. Weirdly, I can't intonate the a-string (no matter how much I move the saddle, it's always flat), but it's not off by much so oh well. Also, push-push pots are the way to go, especially with those standard hat shaped knobs.
Burl is actually my favorite top. I knew this was going to be a good guitar, they have been working on it for awhile now. It does need a tone. I don't know why people omit those on shredder guitars. If I didn't already have too many guitars I would pick this up in a heartbeat.
The Bald Shredder strikes again! He had a video where he mentioned he went to Namm and spoke to the man. Returned the next day with measurements and the works. And here it is, kicking ass and taking names. Love your mod- would a capacitor into the volume work to cut the shrill?

Its the blue one for $199. I think it has a discount offer right now bringing the price to $184. I would like you to review it, not just because I have one, but because I want to see how you rate it compared to these other budget brands. If I lived close to you I would pay you to break down my guitar and give feedback. But it looks like you are busy enough as it is. I don't know if Ibanez would "send" you one for review and I really don't care about that issue. Also, I think you would really like the blue burst color. I have one and it is a very beautiful looking guitar.
I don't take payments for breaking down peoples guitars. Ibanez is a good brand. Everyone knows. Also you can get those guitars at your local music store. We tend to review guitars people can't get in their hands to compare. Now you know.
