I got into neptunia with megadimension VII on the switch, and it got me through a very depressing point in my life. Since then, I've played every single entry, even sisters vs sisters (JP).
Same here, I got VII on switch cause I’ve been watching alot of gameplay of the series so I thought it would be a good starting point ( I also bought the swimsuit dlc because fanservice)
I made a video opposite to this ranting about why I miss this series. I got into the series in 2015 for the same reasons as you did, with the quirky story, colorful and bubbly characters and a satisfying gameplay loop which lend me to wanting to revisit this game several times over the years. After playing the Re;Birth games on PC, I went to play the PS3 originals (kind of coincidence this happened because my PC broke and I didn't have one for another 2 years), which made me fall in love with the series all over again. Even the god awful first PS3 game is something I hold near and dear to me, jankiness and horridness of the game itself not withstanding. I legit hate what Neptunia has become in recent years. Instead of being a series that prides itself on being a sufficiently funny yet serious when it needs to be parody of the gaming industry, it just became a soulless cash-cow for CH who realized how much money Neptunia began raking in. I've witnessed it first-hand how Neptunia and its fanbase over the years continued to degrade over time, eventually leading to the fact that all the games have going for them is "game has nep, 10/10" and nothing more than that. That's just the state of the fanbase. I love Neptunia and it's precisely because I love it that it's why I'm heartbroken the series is in an awful state. Even on Twitter when I bring up the topic of Neptunia, most of my friends who know of the series literally just default to "but nep = funny". That's not what Neptunia is to me. Recent games like Neptunia Virtual Stars are prime examples of CH just "cashing in" on trends. A putridly shit game that only was made because Vtubers started popping off, and I don't even mean the "modern ones", despite them making appearances (like Hololive, for example), but older ones in the style of Kizuna Ai & Kaguya Luna. I am very cautiously optimistic about Sisters vs. Sisters. Modern releases in the Neptunia series have forced me to keep my expectations in line though. I'm expecting the absolute worst and my hope in the game is admittedly not very high, but I want to be very pleasantly surprised by it. I want the game to be good, hence why I'm planning on picking it up for my PS4. I really, really want Neptunia to be good and I hope SvS delivers on that wish. Overall great video though, encapsulates a lot of what I would say if anyone asks me why I really love Neptunia so much. But at the same time, with the current state of the franchise, I personally wouldn't recommend it to people unless it gets better.
@usefulscrews The first part you mentioned is why I tend to avoid "fandoms" as a whole. Back in the ye olde days of 2015-2016, I used to be a regular on /r/gamindustri and was a member of several small Discord servers centered around Neptunia, and as time progressed, my views warped to essentially "adapt" to other people's views, which is not how I want to view things, so I distanced myself. Victory, to this day, remains my favorite game in the series from a story perspective. Despite its issues with the framerate, graphics, needlessly long cutscenes and what-have-you - the game is brilliant for the Neptunia series purely for the fact that you get to watch Gamindustri itself "grow up", from the grassroots days of just Planeptune & Lowee, to eventually growing in size comparable to the main dimension. Though the "dimension hopping" trope is one I'm sick & tired of within the Neptunia series because they use that as the basis for every single spinoff and why everything is happening there. "NePtUnE iS iN a DiFfErEnT dImEnSiOn"" has been CH's go-to for most spinoffs and I hate it. I'm so glad that Sisters vs Sisters finally got rid of that and gave us a game that just takes place in the regular Gamindustri we know & love, it was such a breath of fresh air. Speaking of Sisters vs Sisters, I haven't finished it quite yet (in chapter 7 atm) but so far, that game has inspired some small amount of hope within me for the series. Like I said, huge breath of fresh air, and honestly - it's what the series NEEDS right now. There are things I don't like, as with every game, but as a whole - I haven't been happy with a Neptunia game in years. I think the last Neptunia game I properly enjoyed was 4GO, and I played that back in 2018. So I've been waiting quite a while.
Hard disagree on CH treating Neptunia like its cash cow, especially when this series was hardly ever profitable in the first place. The only reason the series hoped off wasn't because it made CH money (CH literally owns multiple game IPs, one less isn't going to make a difference. ) but because the Japanese audience liked it. CH took it as a sign to make more of the series, even though the west hated the first game a lot. The whole basis of Neptunia being a game on parody and obvious Otaku pandering is what makes it unique but also easily applicable to several type of genres of anime style games. Granted, the games could be just trend riding, but that's the point, tactic table top rpg, musou warrior game, idol raising simulator, pseudo online mmo game, the games try everything that is big with Otaku gamers, it's not simple cash grabbing, it's just how the series is with being based off of internet and video game industry events.
after being aware of the series for a few years and thinking "I should play those games someday" a friend of mine became a huge fan so I decided to play the Re;Birth trilogy this month and BOY I am hooked now
"even when is not Neptunia, they find a way to reuse assets" That's actually hilarious since Neptunia 1 IS an asset dump. They needed to reuse assets from Trinity Universe since It didn't made much money and that's how Neptunia was born. That's also why Mk2 is a reboot, the first one was not made with a sequel in mind so to make the universe feel more cohesive they rebooted it.
It was Record of Agarest War, not Trinity Universe. The Trinity Universe thing is a fan theory, but when you look at the background, assets and some SFX, it is straight out of Record of Agarest War/Agarest: Generations of War.
Nope, the game bases is Trinity Universe, they even share the same gameplay and some enemies. But you are indeed correct that it also uses a lot of Agarest War asset. Basically they dumped what they could from their asset library to keep it all in the budget
Glad I'm not the only one who feel this way about it. Nice video! This series really does deserve so much more than its given by public media. Its why I made my channel in the first place c:
You might be right on the money about a resurgence starting with Sisters vs Sisters. The next "spinoff" game was announced just a few days ago: Neptunia GameMaker R:Evolution. It will feature an update to the SvS battle system, this time allowing for 4 character battle parties. Also, this time the 3 new goddesses will be playable along with Adult Neptune. It is an exciting time to be a new Neptunia fan.
I got into Neptunia because of the crossover with Senran Kagura in Peach Beach Splash, when that game released on steam, there was a huge Nep bundle sale to promote the crossover, it was definitely worth it.
As a longtime RPG nerd, the seventh console generation was... well, rough to say the least. I was pretty eager to play anything colorful on my PS3 or 360, and I saw pre-orders go up on NISA's website for Neptunia Victory, and when I got it, I was immediately charmed by it! None only were the characters lovable, and a game with some actually humor in it was really refreshing in 2013, but as someone who studies game history, I loved all the deep cut references and satire. I also really enjoyed the gameplay, as a big fan of turn based combat! I pretty much immediately went to hunt down the first two games, though I never managed to find Mk II and while I own the first one, I've still barely played it xD I kind of list track of the series for a while, so many games felt like they were coming out so fast, and by the time I had a Vita, physical copies were already kind of expensive. I actually did get a decent gaming PC a few years ago, though, and I've been scooping up the series on Steam a little at a time. I'm really looking forward to them, and Sisters vs Sisters looks awesome!
Ah one of my favorite franchises in gamindustri, it's always nice to see it getting some love from someone, especially after the apparent fiasco that the Senran Kagura crossover was? SK fans seem to not have liked the game one bit since it got rid of so many characters, the story wasn't great and the gameplay paled compared to the other SK games. Then there's the fact that one mainline SK game was recently cancelled and people suddenly started blaming the Neptunia crossover... At least Sisters vs Sisters looks great! I was so excited that I even searched a JP playthrough and man was it great. I'm so happy to see the candidates being in the spotlight once more and Nepgear being the Protagonist again. The story was interesting as well. Speaking of which, it seems to take place on the main dimension since the first minutes mention the deity of sin, goddess of Tari and a "dark" (they use the word Ankako as in Ankakobushi, aka Dark best girl) goddess; but it also looks like it won't impact the narrative of any future main line releases if the true ending is anything to go by. And it also opened the doors to a plot taking place in the PC continent with its goddess which means we might finally meet the hyper dimension version of Yellow Heart! Such a great game, I can't wait for the English release to see what did I miss.
EDIT: Well! looks like many came to watch your vids! all thanks to me >W< 14:33 yes, after VII, that's when the Dark Ages comes in! 2015-2020 is nothing but random spinoffs and re-re-remakes that has nothing to do with the series anymore... but thankfully that after that, when VStars came out, it has some potiential for a comeback, and it did! with a new collab game and a brand new candidates game! 16:02 when i got Ninja Wars, i was soo pumped up for this because it was a new game that was circulating in another series on its own ( i did finish Story Mode but i plane to 100% it soon! 17:22 when the very first teaser video came out in CH's YT Channel, i instantly knew it was a return for the candidates! and y'know something! i even wished this around New Year that the candidates did came back! I'll never forget that! (and yes, I'm here in this series, for the Characters and basically everything what it has to offer for the ongoing future of Neptunia) its amazing! even it had a bad long 5 years in the dark areas, it will always find its comback!
Mk2 was my first and the first non Nintendo rpg I played. What drew me in was the cover of the game. Nepgear's processor looked so damn good. Also lost my job so I had nothing better to do lol.
7:50 hell yeah my dude! Cultured as hell. Also I was in the same kind of phase but started with Mk2. God I'm starting to feel old now, hard to believe it's been so long already
I'm a relatively new fan of the Neptunia series (about a year), and I actually enjoy the games and stories that I've played so far. I do understand a lot of the problems that came after the series has been around for over a decade, but I'm just gonna enjoy it and catch up on what I've missed. I hope Sisters vs Sisters gets an English version soon so I can play it (hopefully on the Switch for me)
After being on my wishlist for a long time, you've convinced me to get started on Neptunia. Just bought the rebirth collection on Humble Bundle that comes with all the DLC for all 3 games.
I love this series so much 💖it holds a special place in my heart my first Neptunia game was MK2 but what got me sold to the series was Neptunia Victory 💖
I'm glad to see videos like this come up. I've also been a Neptunia fan since the beginning. I was a senior in high school and remember just moving to Dallas and seeing it in a Gamestop, I saw clips on YT (i always spoil RPGs by watching the the final boss first bad habit ;v;) and just saw it was turn based (my favorite genre) and got it. As bad as the first game is I just loved everything about it. I know you criticized the title screen music but i liked how weird it was, a very strange choice. I got Mk2 the day it came it out. The gamestop worker told me i was the only one that got that day aha. I was moved out at that point and my roomies would see me playing it and just watch because of how funny they thought it was (and make fun of it jokingly) lotta nights spent playing Mk2, i would leave the games on a lot just for ambient music because i loveeed the world map theme and the city themes. I could go on for hours but thank you for the video!!!!!!!!!!
I also started with the original ps3 game and I honestly felt like it was the funniest game in the franchise, it had the best parodies and gut punch lines I still remember compa telling us her grandpa used to say "never give no manipulative bitch the benefit of doubt" Megadimension is where the series peaked imo and we need more mainline
Well I got into the Hyper Dimension Neptunia After watching the anime back in 2014 to 2015 and I really fell in love with the series never played the game!Kid icarus Uprising,Disgaea,Conker Bad Fur Da,Doki Doki Literature Club,Friday Night Funkin and Hyper Dimension Neptunia I’ll have one thing in common they all of the break the fourth wall and announce the audiences!
I have the first Rebirth, but I'm not playing it right now. As of now, I am focusing on another series they made, Agarest War, as I love the multi generations in the games that gives a sense of an epic story. They are very long games and I need to finish them before I turn to Hyperdimension Neptunia. I am also waiting for Digimon Survive, as a long Digimon fan, I want to play that game too.
I got into the series with the first game on ps3, yes the gameplay was abysmal, but I got kinda obsessed with that version of lastation and finished the game. I just noticed that I´ve had this profile picture for over a decade for that reason..
I found Neptunia whilst browsing the finite selection of games for the Vita, and they are the best series of games I found on that system! I now own them all on PC, or all that have been ported. 😃 Edit: GOG versions, I hate running an application to run a game!
let's appreciate how they polished the most asset flip-ass asset flip environments into something that looks good by the third game. It celebrates where it started instead of forgetting it, and that visual identity carries through from Senran Kagura crossovers to MMO approximations I got the biggest laugh playing MkII and saw a Warp Pipe as an enemy
8:55 - 9:09 There is actually a specific reason for that, it's largely due to the True Ending of the first Hyperdiemsion Neptunia (Spoilers below btw In the True Ending of Hyperdimenson Neptune it ended with the 4 CPUs realizing they're terrible at their jobs and stepping down therefor becoming completely human where I believe a time jump was happened where it showed the 4 of them growing old and dying so they wrote themselves into a corner and thus kinda had to do a small little reboot if they were to continue with the series. I'm pretty sure that this is the reason
I started with Re;Birth 1. I loved it and decided to pick up the original on PS3 and I actually liked it enough to platinum it. After beating Re;Birth 2 and Top Nep I am now playing mk2 on my PS3 and I already own all the games that are available on Steam with all DLC and in terms of PS3 I am only missing some of the Victory DLCs. I watched and loved the anime as well and shared it with a few friends who also liked it a lot. I really enjoy getting into the series and love the fact that not only do I still have a lot more games to get to but new ones are finally coming out again.
For me VII is still (and will always be) the best of the series, followed by Rebirth 1 after that. I even saved up to buy ps4 just for that back in the day. The story, the character, music, gameplay, is all perfect. Also during the same time, Death end request and Fairy Fencer F Advent Dark Force also release. That era was CH golden age. Btw little that people know, VII main theme (title screen bgm) is by Nobuo Uematsu
Been Playing the Neptunia Games since the PS3 Original... Very Fun Series and I enjoy them a lot... Got Every Limited Edition Of the Games (Except Re; Birth 1, due to shenanigans)... But anyway, I aways look forward to a new entry in the series and appreciate the video showing a great series some Love... 👍🏼
Here's a fun story: I got one of your videos recommended in my homepage and I decided to watch. Then I visited your channel and saw Neptunia, MUST SUBSCRIBE NOW! And now here's another fun fact: I first played Neptunia back in Winter 2018 purely because I was curious after all the Nep Nep memes I saw, there was a sale on the whole collection up until VII including the spin offs and I decided to buy them all. To this day I do not regret a single penny, Neptunia became one of my most beloved franchises of all time and I have to agree with you, it is sad that it didn't get the love it deserved even by the devs themselves. I used to be excited about Neptunia but now I feel bored after few minutes of Virtual Stars and Ninja Wars (yes, I know the latter is a good game, I just didn't get into it much). I am really really hoping Sisters vs Sisters is the break the series desperately needs, I love the CPU Candidates and the gameplay thus far looks very promising. 2023 looks like the year where I can finally enjoy games once again, especially since I'm also hoping for Hogwarts Legacy. Thanks for the video, it is really great! Consider me as yet another fellow Nep fanboy lol.
I have not played the games. heck! I only discovered the series via the anime which I just started watching last month and I loved it so much! The comedy is top-tier. I enjoy referential humor, adult jokes and a nice bit of fan-service here and there. Plus, the dub is excellent and makes the show even more entertaining😂😂 I actually decided to buy the first two games from Steam because I enjoyed the anime so much but I haven't played them yet due to school and stuff. I am looking forward to them though.
the neptunia series has intrigued me for a while but this certainly made me a lot more interested! I knew it had to be more than just the negative things people associate with it. I have the rebirth trilogy on steam already and hope to go through it sometime. also, as a huge disgaea fan, I was hyped seeing Nisa in the footage. I had no idea she played such a big part in the series. that alone makes me wanna play lmao really great video!
Not gonna lie. The only thing I know about Neptunia is Compa, my beloved. I found her watching a reel of Christina Vee’s work and fell in love with this Compa character.
Neptunia ps3 was my first one to; and I didn't really understand much english at that time, and I still finished that game....God I love Neptunia XD Not only is the Nep Nep herself Deadpools quirky little sister, but the Nepunia series is the only Series, where all Main characters know that there in a video game XD Most of them try to not break the 4th wall to often, only rarly for jokes and the true ending :3
Wish Iffy would localize/remaster some of their old games like Nuga Cel. One of the heroines there voices Nepgear. Characters artwork is made by the same person who designed Vocaloid whose name is the same as that Lastation oracle. It's like turn based version of Senran Kagura. Speaking of oracle...kinda reminds me what happened to other oracles besides Histy. They only appeared in Mk2/Rebirth2 as part of main story.
I love the Neptunia franchise. It's unique. The soundtrack, gameplay, characters, storyline. Everything is beautiful. I love how this series is self aware. And they will repeatedly break the 4th wall over and over again. I first got into Neptunia when I found it randomly sitting at GameStop. And than I got into the Anime. Very fun series that everyone has to play and watch. Really good series. Has a lovable cast of characters and a great storyline.
I agree with everything you said here, and i got into through fanfictions on wattpad, then got into the Neptunia games through Neptunia Sisters vs. Sisters. (i didn't have a gaming pc,ps3, and PS Vita) it grabbed my attention even though I'm a car guy who loves racing games and car games and anime games like Dragon Ball xenoverse 1-2,SAO, and some others.
I got into this series after gettting neptunia VII I remember neptunia was in the deals section on PlayStation I had money so I thought why not? I bought it completed the story saw the best charector uzume (best girl) then I fell into a rabbit hole of nothing but neptunia and I fell in love with it ever since.
I first got into the Netpunia series through watching a let's play of the first game. I was curious about what made that game so bad, and while nothing was appealing about the gameplay, I did enjoy the English VO, specifically Melissa Fahn as Neptune. Then I started watching more let's plays on the second and third games and finally decided to get the third game on PS3. Now I'm mostly collecting the series on PC via GOG and can't watch to try SvS.
I randomly decided to buy Neptunia Rebirth 1 one night on my Vita and quickly loved it. I don't know what compelled me to give it a chance cause I might have only vaguely heard about it somewhere else and I honestly couldn't tell you where, but I'm glad I did. While I did struggle with nearly every boss fight, the writing and characters kept me going to see what could possibly happen next. I also got a friend interested in the game who would go on to become an even bigger fan of the series than I am. I own nearly every game in the series in some form along with the anime and a cool wall scroll I found at Anime Midwest.
I started with Rebirth;1 on PlayStation Vita way back around 2015 then hopped onto Rebirth;2 and finished it before my Vita gave up on me and broke, not exactly a big fan but i’ve always enjoyed playing Neptunia games and just recently i finished with VII on Nintendo switch since it was one of my backlog games and kinda skipped few previous mainline games, i loved it and its kinda sad that i don’t really own any other consoles at the moment to try out other neptunia games
I love Neptunia and my protagonist in my heart is Plutie Yeah i started with Victory from ps3 and Yup i have that Dead console Just for the 3 neptunia games Also i miss to see Plutia as An History Character more than a dlc Character
I genuinely enjoyed all the spin-off( neptunia rpg and cyber dimension are peak)and the fanservice also adds to the charm (yes i am one of them). I mean its not like the series is dying or anything we have 2 new games in 2024 already
i didnt knew how airfore name was pronounced lol. its obvious now, but the games i played (rebirth) also had enemies who names refering piracy devices and their names were even more obvious.
It's ironic how Idea Factory has warning screens not to pirate their games and made the R4 card into a personified villain only to release most of their games on systems infamous for being pirated.
This is one of my absolute favorite jrpg series! I own all of the games over multiple consoles and handheld systems. Love the light-hearted stories and over abundance of fan service! The 1st PS3 title was weak. But ut has been remade a few times and the final version of it on PS5 is just amazing! There are still some spin off titles stuck on The Vita and PC that I wish would come to newer consoles.
Picked up this series in 2020 and it has become one of my top favorites of all time. Idea factory has become my favorite developer at the same time as well.
The first neptunia game on the PS3 is something i'll never regret playing! It was really FUN as i cleared it 3 times tops. Do not believe those who says this game is not fun. Maybe the mechanics in that game don't really play with other players.
I've recently found your video and I kind off agree with gameplay sentiment. I found out Neptunia series 6 or 7 years ago, it was my first truly weeb game series (played RB1 recently released on steam), and to be honest it blew me away. I never liked turn based combat, but because of characters, plot and world I started to enjoy it in HDN series. True, it got stale after a while, but I always wanted to play another mainline game just to know the plot and meet new characters. I liked some spin offs to, like Megatagmension )excellent combat system in my opinion) and Cyberdimension Neptunia (probably my favourite spin off because of sequel to both V/RB3 and Megadimension vibe). SvS was excellent and cannot wait for Game Maker and if rumours are to be believed, next mainline entry (hope for returning characters from earlier games). Also love your video because of you clear passion for this series. Cheers mate
I have been into Neptunia ever since the original Hyperdimension Neptunia on PS3 around the time it first came out in North America. Neptunia for life. Uzume/ Orange Heart is best girl of all time by the way. 😍 Also, Neptunia is my most favorite series of all time.
I did play the first and Mk2 games, only played a bit of Victory then dropped out of the series as a whole, had the mindset of "you're getting older, what will others think of you playing a game series primarily of girls" then jumped back after playing megadimension VIIR, love how historie says "we've been aware of the player for awhile" honestly hope for more VR moments in other games
ironically enough, producing perfection was the reason i got into this series... i bought a psvita bc i, too, was a middle schooler going thru one hell of a weeb phase n being in love with handheld consoles, it seemed like the right jump. i mean, some "anime" games were psvita exclusive, so it made the most sense to me at the time. i was, n still am, a very passionate fan of idol games, so producing perfection was right up my alley. but again, being the pathetic loser i was, i never did research into any of the "anime" games i took interest in. so getting home from the best buy was a horrible little trip bc as i looked up the game... i figured out that it was a series. one that i didn't have the money for. i mean, i was a middle schooler. the games were like $30 a pop, which seems so cheap now that everything ever is $70. but i digress. i fucking loved producing perfection. i still do. i know everyone hates it but... i don't know. i'm a simple person. i see idol game, i click. maybe it's my character flaw. regardless, without producing perfection, i wld've never seen these characters i hold so dear to my heart today. neptune is still best girl after all this time. i'm glad there are still fans out there holding out hope that we'll finally be free from remake n spinoff hell. i'm definitely not a middle schooler anymore, but i still don't have the money to purchase every game lol. the rebirth games are enough for me until we get english releases that aren't remakes. spinoffs don't interest me as much bc even tho my love for this series started with one, i'm frugal in my own right haha. sisters vs sisters gives me hope that we'll see the light again. a lot of what u said in this video is how i feel abt the series, even tho we came from different starting points. it's a great video! u've def earned a sub from me :D
I think my nickname speaks for itself. Also I think the very first game is not that bad, because I loved the seriousness in the story and designs of monsters. Newer games are like a strawberry pudding while first game was a straight up deep depression and it is appealing in a special way.
The neptunia series is my favorite game series ever. I got into it cuz of megadimension neptunia vii. I bought all the ones available for ps4 and ps vita. So what if it's an rpg with fan service anime bs? Its GOOD FANSERVICE ANIME BS. Lol with a great characters full of personality and a lovely world that's so funny, meta and fourth wall breaking.
I bought the 1st hyperdimension Neptunia back in 2011..I admit i didn't like at all..maybe due the fanservice..sold it on ebay..after a year I decided to re buy it..I didn't even give it a chance..after that this franchise became a guilty pleasure of mine..love this series..im glad i gave it a second chance..no regrets 😊
I stumbled into it just before the original came out. I showed up at gamestop when they opened and bought the limited edition. I now buy all the main games limited editions. I like the games but theyre not for everyone. Theyre my favorite to buy limited editions for some reason. 🤷♂️ even got the japanese only VII limited edition. I dont collect like that for anything else.
When I get money.... I will play these franchise on sale. First after seeing Rena Ryuugu from Higurashi playable in Sisters vs Sisters and this made me interested about it. I'm kinda overwhelmed from the idea factory games since I wanna try them all. But I better get the Senran Kagura x Neptunia first because I love Senran Kagura.
it sounds very bizarre, but in 2016 I watched a bunch of YTP's and YTPMV's at that time, and one video in particular had neptune, at that time, I didn't know who that was, but for some reason, I couldnt get that though out of my head. one day in 2021, I relived that 2016 life by watching the same YTP's and YTPMV's I did, and when I saw neptune again, my brain remembered wanting to know who this character was. 2021 me googled the description of neptune, and eventually found my answer, hesitant to buy the first game, I decided to watch the anime first, and I enjoyed it. I than bought Re;birth 1 on steam, enjoyed it, and ended up buying most of their games. there are a few I didn't buy but might later on like virtual stars and blanc + neptune vs zombies
I really don't like fanservice, but... in neptunia doesn't feel off, like even neptune makes fun of the fanservice, the storyline in the neptunia game are REALLY good, probably one of the best JRPG i played with atelier and persona games.
I began my adventure with Mk2 and feel in love with series, so ordered the first game and loved it despite it's flaws. Sadly been a while since I last played a Neptunia game (not counting the little I play Sega Hard Girls last year) and yet I still purchase the LE of Neptunia games upon release. Sad I don't own the first game LE with Cards or Re:Birth 1, tried but sadly IF produce to few and Amazon didn't offer non-us shipping until all was sold out :(. Idea Factory International - Rob the legend and Yoshino Puppet :p
Honestly I do love this series but mostly because the rpg gameplay and fanservice which has been absent in recent games disappointingly. (My favorite Rom, Ram, Pishy, etc loli)
My man. Blanc,Neptune,Uni,Blanc and Plutia too. Fanservice has gotten so tame in Japanese games and anime recently unfortunately. Though Gushing Over Magical Girls is reviving fanservice.😏
I remember in 2015 I've tried to play rebirth 1 on steam, cuz at that time I was dipping a toe into weeb stuff. However, I after getting greeted by wall of text, loud anime music and poor graphics I've immediately unistalled it. Skip to may 2022, me playing Destiny 2, my main game since 2019, and getting more and more frustrated at the state of the game (that's the whole other can of worms), so I've dropped it. Then while while watching youtube, I got in recomendations a noir scream moment from anime and boy that dub hooked me. A few days ago I've reinstalled rebirth 1, why not, since I got nothing worth doing and remember that dub was good. I've beat it (~80%) in 2 sessions, now on ng+. The world, the characters, the plot, all of it was so interesting. Now I got all the neptunia games on steam sale, It's gonna be an exciting vacation. It's mainly thanks to you and other youtubers who cover such niche games that I got into. Heck, maybe even gonna try disgaea or tales games in the future.
@@Galaxygamer48634 Understandable.
@@Galaxygamer48634 My man.😏
Megadimension Neptunia VII does have that kind of story
@usefulscrews
The first part you mentioned is why I tend to avoid "fandoms" as a whole.
Granted, the games could be just trend riding, but that's the point, tactic table top rpg, musou warrior game, idol raising simulator, pseudo online mmo game, the games try everything that is big with Otaku gamers, it's not simple cash grabbing, it's just how the series is with being based off of internet and video game industry events.
after being aware of the series for a few years and thinking "I should play those games someday" a friend of mine became a huge fan so I decided to play the Re;Birth trilogy this month and BOY I am hooked now
"even when is not Neptunia, they find a way to reuse assets"
That's actually hilarious since Neptunia 1 IS an asset dump. They needed to reuse assets from Trinity Universe since It didn't made much money and that's how Neptunia was born.
That's also why Mk2 is a reboot, the first one was not made with a sequel in mind so to make the universe feel more cohesive they rebooted it.
What about Fairy Fencer?
Trinity Universe was a great game and i will die on that hill
@TheDarkEnigma I loves me some Trinity Universe. 😊
I mean it's not like the series died down or anything
I pretty much immediately went to hunt down the first two games, though I never managed to find Mk II and while I own the first one, I've still barely played it xD
I kind of list track of the series for a while, so many games felt like they were coming out so fast, and by the time I had a Vita, physical copies were already kind of expensive.
EDIT: Well! looks like many came to watch your vids! all thanks to me >W<
14:33 yes, after VII, that's when the Dark Ages comes in!
Just got into the series last year and fell in love with it…
🥰🥰🥰
I love this series so much 💖it holds a special place in my heart
my first Neptunia game was MK2 but what got me sold to the series was Neptunia Victory 💖
I found out about this because the English va for Neptune voiced a character named silver wolf on a game called star rail silver wolf is even a gamer
YO, congrats on hitting 100 AND 200 the day after!! Here's to another 10 years of Neptunia!
I also started with the original ps3 game and I honestly felt like it was the funniest game in the franchise, it had the best parodies and gut punch lines
I still remember compa telling us her grandpa used to say "never give no manipulative bitch the benefit of doubt"
Megadimension is where the series peaked imo and we need more mainline
Well I got into the Hyper Dimension Neptunia After watching the anime back in 2014 to 2015 and I really fell in love with the series never played the game!Kid icarus Uprising,Disgaea,Conker Bad Fur Da,Doki Doki Literature Club,Friday Night Funkin and Hyper Dimension Neptunia I’ll have one thing in common they all of the break the fourth wall and announce the audiences!
I too played the first game in middle school and loved it, but I ended up forgetting about it till I found rebirth this week
Not to mention some SFX & BGM instrument from Agarest War also heard in Neptunia. Since both games from the same dev.
I was feeling down when it came to this series but the clips of sisters vs sisters got me hyped for an English release
Edit: GOG versions, I hate running an application to run a game!
in a way, Neptunia is the Persona of the gaming industry and I dig it!
let's appreciate how they polished the most asset flip-ass asset flip environments into something that looks good by the third game. It celebrates where it started instead of forgetting it, and that visual identity carries through from Senran Kagura crossovers to MMO approximations
I got the biggest laugh playing MkII and saw a Warp Pipe as an enemy
I'm thankful you wrote such great points about the story and CFW. I miss Nisa.
8:55 - 9:09 There is actually a specific reason for that, it's largely due to the True Ending of the first Hyperdiemsion Neptunia (Spoilers below btw
In the True Ending of Hyperdimenson Neptune it ended with the 4 CPUs realizing they're terrible at their jobs and stepping down therefor becoming completely human where I believe a time jump was happened where it showed the 4 of them growing old and dying so they wrote themselves into a corner and thus kinda had to do a small little reboot if they were to continue with the series.
16:38 there is also a Manga :P
I'll always love this Series, it got me through one of the darkest and hardest periods of my life and it I will always be grateful for it.
the neptunia series has intrigued me for a while but this certainly made me a lot more interested! I knew it had to be more than just the negative things people associate with it. I have the rebirth trilogy on steam already and hope to go through it sometime.
also, as a huge disgaea fan, I was hyped seeing Nisa in the footage. I had no idea she played such a big part in the series. that alone makes me wanna play lmao
really great video!
Not to mention the community is super friendly as well
Indeed :)
Not gonna lie. The only thing I know about Neptunia is Compa, my beloved. I found her watching a reel of Christina Vee’s work and fell in love with this Compa character.
Neptunia ps3 was my first one to; and I didn't really understand much english at that time, and I still finished that game....God I love Neptunia XD
Not only is the Nep Nep herself Deadpools quirky little sister, but the Nepunia series is the only Series, where all Main characters know that there in a video game XD
Most of them try to not break the 4th wall to often, only rarly for jokes and the true ending :3
Love this freakin series
Noire is a beauty
Great video, a nice overview!
Has a lovable cast of characters and a great storyline.
i wanted to know more after playing the senran kagura collab, i feel like i'll enjoy this
I agree with everything you said here, and i got into through fanfictions on wattpad, then got into the Neptunia games through Neptunia Sisters vs. Sisters. (i didn't have a gaming pc,ps3, and PS Vita) it grabbed my attention even though I'm a car guy who loves racing games and car games and anime games like Dragon Ball xenoverse 1-2,SAO, and some others.
Glad that someone is covering my favorite game franchise of all time.
This is why Hyperdimension Neptunia still rocks!
I've played so much of the original neptunia game and never knew the R4 reference. Thanks for the knowledge.
Now I'm mostly collecting the series on PC via GOG and can't watch to try SvS.
i watched the anime it was nostalgic seeing this again
I love Neptunia and my protagonist in my heart is Plutie
Yeah i started with Victory from ps3 and Yup i have that Dead console Just for the 3 neptunia games
Also i miss to see Plutia as An History Character more than a dlc Character
18:32 this new UI looks gorgeous!
The anime got me into this. Currently playing V 2
Cheers mate
warhammer?
@@PERSONII3331PERSONIIEVER My avatar and name? Yeah, it's from 40k
@@torquilleliphas8727 well. i never thought see 40k fan on neptunia video😇
@@PERSONII3331PERSONIIEVER Neptunia and old 40k are my two most favorite universes
My favorite serie too :3
I have been into Neptunia ever since the original Hyperdimension Neptunia on PS3 around the time it first came out in North America.
Love the games and show
ironically enough, producing perfection was the reason i got into this series... i bought a psvita bc i, too, was a middle schooler going thru one hell of a weeb phase n being in love with handheld consoles, it seemed like the right jump. i mean, some "anime" games were psvita exclusive, so it made the most sense to me at the time. i was, n still am, a very passionate fan of idol games, so producing perfection was right up my alley. but again, being the pathetic loser i was, i never did research into any of the "anime" games i took interest in. so getting home from the best buy was a horrible little trip bc as i looked up the game... i figured out that it was a series.
one that i didn't have the money for. i mean, i was a middle schooler. the games were like $30 a pop, which seems so cheap now that everything ever is $70. but i digress.
i fucking loved producing perfection. i still do. i know everyone hates it but... i don't know. i'm a simple person. i see idol game, i click. maybe it's my character flaw.
regardless, without producing perfection, i wld've never seen these characters i hold so dear to my heart today. neptune is still best girl after all this time. i'm glad there are still fans out there holding out hope that we'll finally be free from remake n spinoff hell. i'm definitely not a middle schooler anymore, but i still don't have the money to purchase every game lol. the rebirth games are enough for me until we get english releases that aren't remakes. spinoffs don't interest me as much bc even tho my love for this series started with one, i'm frugal in my own right haha. sisters vs sisters gives me hope that we'll see the light again.
a lot of what u said in this video is how i feel abt the series, even tho we came from different starting points. it's a great video! u've def earned a sub from me :D
Nice video, as for me, I've been a Neptunia fan since 2017.
I got started with MK2 and never looked back. Not the most dazzling JRPG, but I think the characters make up for that.
Hyped about getting my preorder of Neptunia Game Maker R - PS5 this week.
I think my nickname speaks for itself.
Also I think the very first game is not that bad, because I loved the seriousness in the story and designs of monsters. Newer games are like a strawberry pudding while first game was a straight up deep depression and it is appealing in a special way.
Top Nep is one of my favorite Games 10/10
I think the funniest thing about VII's name is that it could be taken as a 7 aswell because there are 3 orginal and 3 remakes
Cool bro. I'll have to give them a try now.
Well gameplay wise the first HDN is a trainwreck.
@@Chelaxim I've played Trinity universe before neptunia so the gameplay was to familiar to me 😂
I got into Neptunia was in rebirth 1 so far loving it
I stumbled into it just before the original came out.
I got into Neptunia with Megadimension VII and since them play almost every title except for the remakes. I really enjoy it 4GD and Senran Kagura NW.
17:52 wait, blanc run like this? i dont remember that detail , is that a new thing? looks chunii as hell xD
Nepgear is my favorite Neptunia character. I still need to get the Neptunia PS Vita games.
I than bought Re;birth 1 on steam, enjoyed it, and ended up buying most of their games. there are a few I didn't buy but might later on like virtual stars and blanc + neptune vs zombies
i remember the first games launch, was waiting in line and i think i was the only one picking it up lol
I really don't like fanservice, but... in neptunia doesn't feel off, like even neptune makes fun of the fanservice, the storyline in the neptunia game are REALLY good, probably one of the best JRPG i played with atelier and persona games.
I fucking love neptuna so fucking much i just love it
I really love this series. I'm a eternal Neptunia fan!
Idea Factory International - Rob the legend and Yoshino Puppet :p
shares arent just an analogy for money, but also for market SHARE
I'm already saving up to buy the SvS limited edition package when the english version comes out
I just got all the available games on steam hope I enjoy them
Honestly I do love this series but mostly because the rpg gameplay and fanservice which has been absent in recent games disappointingly.
Indeed The games were so much better before the changes
7:52 You should be proud, you will never see a thing like that in the near future (- Aug 14 2023)
I got them on sale on the Vita a few years ago, just love the character designs and stories, even if the gameplay could be better 😅
I miss this game
Neptune is probably like my favorite ever character. Melissa Fahn makes the character sooo fun.
I was getting hooked with the series until the ep 2 of the anime and that "Bowser reference" scene
