I think the way your repressed the family is perfect! I’m so happy they picked you to build it! You are so talented and I’m glad the sims team see that! ❤️❤️
The window in the basement is such a cute touch! Also we totally had a picnic table in our backyard growing up too, and my parents also still have the swing set from when i was in elementary school nearly 20 years later lol. So those are both very realistic touches even if I get why the sims team might veto them. I also loved learning about the process of making an official EA build, thanks for sharing!
I love the backstory of the sims in this house! A close trusting relationship between step-siblings doesn't seem like a story that's often told, although I'm sure it's relatable to many people.
The fact that the team didn’t get window wells/basements being common in homes outside of their region is kinda explanatory as to the game being most like an America simulator lol. This also helped me realize why basements in previous EA builds made me so uncomfy, even tho I’m not claustrophobic or anything! As someone in the midwest (but not quite tornado alley), basements are extremely common. Not just for storm purposes, but also as storage/cellar space, esp. in older homes/farm homes. Cellars might be cute additions to Cottage Living homes as well!
I love how you use she/they interchangeably in this video! As a nonbinary person myself hearing people actually use multiple pronouns for one person makes my heart so happy :) When I saw James Turner's world tour video I saw this house from the world view, and since I knew you'd done the thriftea shop, I was sure you'd done this one as well! You're so good at personalizing homes to sims and to storylines, as well as making them colorful and realistic looking in such a nice way (my house legit has that linoleum/tile so I def understand using it! I also really like it)
the builds you've done for this pack are so beautiful, i can't wait to have them in my game! not that they need it, but are you planning on renovating these after the pack comes out? i'd love to see how you would do them differently with access to cheats and more packs
It's so interesting to hear everyone's perspectives and experiences building for the expansion packs the past few years. This house is amazing, great job, Tonya 🥳
I swear that is one of the nicest window wells I've ever seen 😍 (Midwesterner here) Ash is like the luckiest kid, they've basically got their own little apartment!
I love that you advocated for real basement details. I can't get over it. I've lived in two houses with basements, one in CO and one and TX, and they both had some natural light and fire safety mechanism. I do love that old, brown lino though. So classic. Kind of OT, but I think you're the only build streamer with a similar economic background as me? I always find comfort in your videos because of that. You make a lot of small kitchens and houses without wealth but a lot of love.
You were the first Sims builder I ever started watching two years ago, I got so excited seeing you were involved in this pack! The first of many. 🖤 It's amazing how much personality you were able to fit in with the limitations they have. Your builds stand out so much from the standard EA homes and lots.
Very impressed by what a full and cohesive build you were able to do within the restrictions! The house came out so excellent 🥰 I love everything about it from the colors to the layout I'm also glad they let you keep the window well! Whether in Sims or real life, it's nice when basements have windows
tanya!!! this is so exciting:) i’ve been watching your videos since the summer of 2020 and i feel so proud that you’re building for ea now! congrats ❤️
No shade to all the other sims creators who made builds for this pack and previous ones because they were also great but seriously girl, you made best pre-made lots in the whole game with this pack! When I saw some other UA-camrs tour your builds I was like screaming, you managed to balance clutter and personalization with the budget for each build so they weren't too basic like a lot of premade builds are. I can't wait to play the pack. 😊
I love love love what you call the window well. What a great build feature to get natural light into a basement. This is why it was a Boss move for the sims team to recruit you to official lots for an EP. I don't know how you did it. I will definitely be trying to figure it out (with my can't_build_a_thing_self) Thank you so much.
@@danasalem623 I can really recommend city living if you like furnishing rooms, but you don't like building the house itself. City living comes with a lot of game play updates like festivals, basketball and neighours, so I think that's a good pack. If you only like the cas/build items in high school years, it's a lot of money to spend on a game pack expansion, imo 🤔
You... had to explain to them that it is important that there is a window in the basement bedroom? 😨😨😨😲 But... didn't they think if it burns in the bedroom... or if Ash want's to have some fresh air... Sorry, now I'm a bit astonished. 😦 On a more positive note, I really like the soft pastell tones throughout the house!
@@Gryphi true, but at the same time I think basements without some kind of window/exit (like a window well) are literally not up to code lol. Window wells are really the only option in the sims.
I just wanna say that i love your builds and decoration that you use on them, i have been following your channel for a while and i really enjoy your content and love the fact that you worked on this coming expansion. Keep up the good work.
I honestly could not make my brain figure out how to incorporate window wells into my builds (most of the houses in my area have them so I always wanted to use them). Clearly I just needed to watch this video to see how it was done! The answer is so simple and now I feel dumb 😅. Awesome build and congrats for joining the the team to work on this expansion pack!
I love the window well! Even though they've always been a part of most houses I've lived in it's something I always forget about when building in the sims literally until now
highkey like to think the step brother here wasnt rlly thinking about his sexuality or anything until he met his step sibling and realised it was like an option and now confides in them edit: super ironic im a trans person (guy) named ash and my cousin’s name is noah, he was basically my sibling cause we lived together growing up 😂 i dont remember if thats the sims name but if it is its a fun coincidence, although its going to make it harder to play my own family with this pack
i headcanon that the parents got remarried when ash and noah were children and maybe that one of the parents already lived here like from the first marriage and the basement used to be a gameroom or den and when they aged up into teens ash moved down there to have their own room
The house looks great, though admittedly does not look like something that dishwashing/cafeteria worker paychecks could ever afford 😅 But they that’s the beauty of the sims 😂
I love this build!! I would want point out that Ash being nonbinary. so they would be stepsibling, not sister. No hate or disrespect intended! I love all your videos! 😀
Someone please help!!! I don’t understand how to make the basement with windows, I can’t delete the ceiling above basement to do it:( Upd. I did it! Had to play video at 0.25x to see how to do it 😂
Tonya’s out here doing god’s work by making the sims team properly connect the lots to the edge of the streets 🙏 It’s very much appreciated lol
❤❤
TRULY lol
Yes all of this!

I saw the final build in James Turner's world overview video last night and it's just fantastic. Well done as always!
Thank you so much!!
This is lovely, and I love that even despite the restrictions, your style still shines through.

The way you created the open stair landing with a second set of stairs blew my mind

I never thought I would see the day a lot would connect to the perimeter like that 😂 you and XfreezerbunnyX are lifesavers!
When you first announced that you were building for this pack I almost cried. LOL I was so proud. 🤣 loving the builds!

“it ends up being very blue in here” basically captured how I feel after the 1st month of summer self isolation
I love the buy and build of this pack

I totally can see Ash on their patio enjoying some 🍃 with basemental mod 😂 idk just got that vibe from their porch lol
Beautiful build. I was informed of your contribution by James Turner on his channel about the high school pack.
Loved this! Including the window well!
I love the window well! Even though they've always been a part of most houses I've lived in it's something I always forget about when building in the sims literally until now
Congratulations for this awesome opportunity! You're doing amazing work, I'm so happy for you!
I also love that ugly tile! I wish we had more colors or similar patterns because I use it in alllllll of my builds
Can you do a tutorial on how to do a basement like that with the window? It's so creative, I love this build!
So proud of you Tonya!
I also had/have a picnic bench in my yard!
You've got a new subscriber here. I love that house so much. You did an amazing job!
Love love love it😍😍😍😍
Loooove the build! It's soo cute :3
Thank you!

why did you have cottage living installed but not any other pack?also the house is so cute!
This house is perfect!! ☺❤
I love love it great Job!!!!! And thank you for asking if they can change that space with the sidewalk it drives me crazy too lol
Great build as always!!

I missed it, did they give you a general vibe on the style of house (exterior) that they wanted for the world?
We were given an idea of the vibe of the world, yes! But given pretty free reign on how we wanted to make the builds.
The house looks great, though admittedly does not look like something that dishwashing/cafeteria worker paychecks could ever afford 😅
But they that’s the beauty of the sims 😂
Did you change the curtains to blue ones in the sons room or did they do that?
This world gives me big Cooperstown NY vibes
Ahhhh I wish that front part used the new round walls😫
can u make a house for a teen who just moved out of her parents house with the new pack??
this house is going to be in the library right??
It's automatically in the game! On the lot I showed. It's a townie home
the landscaping was so much cuter, so sad you had to delete it😭
Hold the phone. I see curved walls!?! Do we have curved walls coming?
Yup. It was confirmed yesterday
Yes!!! Curved walls coming to base game!
Late so you prob won’t answer but why is cottage living installed? I thought it was just high school and base game
Weird thing that happened with my early versions of the game. Not sure why.
@@Gryphi huh strange, thanks for answering
I love your build! 👍
It's always annoys me though, that EA doesn't do the rooms/houses/etc they show in their trailers. 🤔
I love this build!!

School.
Just an aside that Ash isn't a daughter, they're nonbinary so they're his child
kind of really triggering to hear you keep calling Ash sister/daughter/she constantly TT-TT I don't think I can finish this video
Sorry about that! You are right. I was just using the information I was given early on when working on this pack.
