  • TASCAM 60D in a Strut field case. Connected to Sony wireless plug transmitter and Rode NTG 3 shotgun. In this example the kit is transmitting to a Canon 5D for second sound.
    John from Strut cases adds:
" I'm sure you have noticed since that at the harness rings there are velcro tabs that you can thread through the bails of the DR60 and back to the case to secure the case to the recorder. Also, the lid can be rolled back and velcroed out of the way in nice weather while adjusting levels. In less ideal conditions there is room to snake a finger under the lid for a quick gain change".
When your in the field, being efficient is a must and neatness counts!

Thanx for making this video review. Seriously thinking about getting the strut case now.

Glad it helped. There are a couple more cases available, I still like the Strut. I just figured out that the 60 can be powered by regular USB/AC adapter, same as a cell phone. If you see my vid about the Yeti microphone, you can use that power brick for the 60D.

What do you mean by second sound? Would first sound be what is being recorded to the DR60D internally?

    • @LeoMahoney70
      @LeoMahoney70  5 років тому

The term 2nd sound means sound not recorded in camera. The external TASCAM recording gets resynced to your video in post. DSLR internal mics are meant to record a low quality "scratch track" so syncing external sound (Tascam) is fairly simple depending on your editing application. I record on a Sound Devices 633, but still pack my small Tascam just in case!

@@LeoMahoney70 Yeah, I sync all my sound in post as well. I just didn't know that it was called second sound. Thanks man. I just got my DR60D. One day I'll afford a Sound Devices. :)

Hold on to it even when you up grade- it's a life saver for in the field recording problems.

I don't understand why you have the receiver on the camera and have the Mic receiver. set up to the Tascam.
I have the same exact sony lav mic. you have. I never use on my Mark IV what the benefit of doing that?

Hi, thanks for watching. I go direct to camera with sound all the time. If I don't need 2nd sound with a mixer I go direct. The 5D playback sound is very good and this eliminates the need for sound sync. This only works for 1 audio input to 5D, anything more needs a mixer.

I bought a TASCAM DR-60DmkII, more a mic Bluebird and ZOOM Q4, but the sound obtained low or high is few perfect! My instrument for record is the classical guitar and i have one Chanel in UA-cam with the name MANUEALIPIO. I haven´t yet played with TASCAM.
Can you helpe me? Thanks a lot.
    Kind regards,
    Manuel

+ManueAlipio Calvão I listened to the music on your channel & it does have a lot of roominess, almost like the camera mic was picking up and not the BLUE. Your mic placement looked okay & that BLUE is capable of great sound. Try the DR-60 recorder, be sure phantom power is on and bring the gain up on the recorder. Also, experiment with the built-in EQ to bring up some base. You might want to use a audio program (Garage Band, Pro-Tools...) to sweeten the recording. If you can down the big empty room sound that would help. Try recording in a much smaller room- maybe a bedroom- the blankets, rug or bedding would help baffle the emptiness of a big room.Tell me when you post a new recording. Leo

Following the response to Your kind comment that I am very grateful, I take the liberty to inform you that today I recorded the first piece already with the TASCAM DR-6 = D mkII, "Prélude, Anton Diabelli" asking the favor of Your analysis, which greatly thank you.
      Best regards,
      Manuel
