Very good video, thank you. My wife's Nissan Versa does have a transmission dip stick. I paid at a Nissan dealer for a transmission flush and it was $340. If I just want transmission fluid change like you did on the video it was $219. The reason I don't do this transmission fluid change on the CVT is because they are very picky. If you over fill it or not fill it enough, they get damage.
that is exactly what the overflow plug is for. ALL transmissions have them, some are separate bolts on the outside, while others ( like this video ) are inside. That hex bolt, is the actual bolt to drain. The bolt on the outside is the overfill. You run the engine after you filled everything up with the bolt open and let any fluid that expands drip out.
@@1mostwanted253 Are u saying that you do the following: 1) undo both big bolt and allen key bolt 2) Put both bolts back in and refill with approx same amount of fluid that came out 3) turn the car on and run it through the gears, after approx 5min, undo the big bolt on the pan itself, and once it starts to pour out in a very light stream (perfect oil level) you close it back up and that is it?
@@Evil_Mk6 well I guess my transmission was different because when I unbolted the first bolt, a whole gallon drained out and I just filled it back with a gallon the same as I took out. Isn’t it illegal for a manufacturer to void your warranty just for not using their oem fluid? Unless they provide the fluid free of charge, and if they don’t and still void your warranty because of the aftermarket fluid, then it’s a violation of federal law under the Magnuson Moss act of 1975.
not always, because someone can then use engine oil as transmission fluid by accident and the dealership has to foot the bill. I think it has to be NS-2 or NS-3 compliant for your case to hold weight if you go through the legal route. Transmissions are supposed to last till the end of your cars warranty, thus a 'lifetime'. After your warranty is gone, I recommend changing it every 50k. Some CVT fluids are similar in color so there is no way to tell, but others are different colors entirely. Some will void, some will not. Anyways, they make it really hard to change it yourself as intended.
