May and Clarkson laughing at Hammonds photos in the beginning is one of the reasons this show was so good- these old dudes are hamming it up together in the same way a couple of 10 year olds laugh when they discovered something like Carlin for the first time. The whole show is a good belly laugh and a good time throughout and they’re genuinely enjoying doing it.
Top Gear with these three was basically three guys talking shit (in a positive way) for an hour and occasionally talking about cars lol. Their relatability to regular people (or at least if regular people were able to "edit out" their banter and just make the good stuff public) and chemistry were probably the secret weapons.
@@PT-mj3bk God I wouldn't say that at all. The best of top gear was when they just go out themselves and do something simple enough but they have great banter while doing it. The grand tour is all scripted stuff and it's kind of lost the magic imo
4:55 the first episode I ever saw from Top Gear, and as a Dutchman this one is very funny and still accurate to today’s standards. Actually people are taking more and more drugs everyday.
Went into rehab when this comment was made and came back last wednesday. The world suddenly had 11% more drugs to go around. You're welcome dutchie. 🤪😝😜☺😗😉🙃🙂😘😚
He tried expressive genuine feelings and has been mocked through the media for almost 2 decades for it. Most people are uncomfortable when someone is genuine so a lot of people (primarily men but also some women) will resort to a false bravado to deflect any of those emotions from effecting their real self, which might deflect some of those negative feelings in the short term, but it's never good to just let emotions fester indefinitely. Everyone has to channel those emotions somewhere, you just have to make sure its through a productive outlet. Always check in on the ones you love. James was looking for some emotional support and given as most don't know his personal life, it's difficult to know whether he received that support or not. To those with less mental fortitude, comments like those can break down someone's psyche and sense of self-worth with irreversible consequences. It takes a special kind of someone to break that cycle, not follow the very understandable and rational train of thought of shutting others out, and to make the tough decisions day after day not because it's easy, or even for social gratification, because that often is a poor representation of true success. But because at every step of the way, you demanded it, and absolutely nothing else will do. Just because people haven't given you what you need doesn't mean you should give up due to lack of results. It is the defining characteristic of the human spirit to keep going in spite of insurmountable odds. That's why people still gamble even when they know it's mathematically throwing away money, it's why people make their beds every morning even though they know they'll mess it up again before the end of the day, and that's how humans, not any of the other millions of species that have occupied this planet throughout history, have come to dominate on a level that makes us akin to gods to our ancestral predators. It's because we never gave up, despite when every single other variable indicated we should. Despite when every single person tells you that you're stupid, wrong, or just flat out insane, humans have time and time again simply refused to go quietly into the night and accept anything less than perfection. We refuse to sit on our hands and accept anything else that what we deserve, and this, is the defining characteristic of humans that is the division bell between the extraordinary, and the absolutely astonishing. So to whoever may be reading this, whatever your pursuit of excellence is in life, no matter how insurmountable the task may seem, no matter how infinitesimally small the odds may seem, you never give up, and you do all that you can, because what else can you do?
@napkinphysicist456 holy shit my man, this hasn't gotten the recognition it deserves. Well written and well said, really gave me a pick me up. Thank you and I hope you have an amazing life.
