Rameau - Les Indes galantes

- Frans Brüggen conducting the Baroque Orchestra of The Hague in collaboration with the Orchestra of the 18th Century at the Royal Conservatoire. A one hour excerpt of what turned out to be his very last performance.
This has become one of my favorite videos to watch. It'e encouraging to see young people involved in Baroque music!
My favourite things:
-40'24: two cellists having a great time
-Baroque trumpets! I love the way Bruggen let them shine.
-The two ladies with their drums, they make the music so exciting!
From 53:08, those moments are very intimate and respectful between Mr Bruggen, the players and the public. Beautiful heritage we had the honor to receive from our baroque masters.

dankjewel voor alles Frans Brüggen
This is, by far, the most sublime, beautiful music that has ever been composed (monteverdi and Dowland, 2nd and 3rd) The orchestration and voices are at complete unity. And the orchestration!!! Beyond words. The deftness, the uniqueness, the otherworldly quality, the transcendence, the interchangeable joy and sorrow. If more people listened to rameau we would live in an infinitely better world. Rameau makes mozart look lame, forced and ponderous. Richard strauss once said that rameau was the greatest composer who ever lived. And he quotes him (from les indes galantes) in his final opera capriccio
Beautiful
...Entree de polymnie (starting around 53')....Thank you for this eternal beauty
"eternal beauty" perfect description. And a panacea for hurt minds par excellence
The lyrics of the rondeau (39'25) "Forêts paisibles" :
Forêt paisibles,
Jamais un vain désir ne trouble ici nos cœurs.
S’ils sont sensibles,
Fortune, ce n’est pas au prix de tes faveurs.
Dans nos retraites,
Grandeur, ne viens jamais
offrir de tes faux attraits !
Ciel, tu les as faites
pour l’innocence et pour la paix.
Jouissons dans nos asiles,
Jouissons des biens tranquilles !
Ah ! Peut-on être heureux,
Quand on forme d’autres vœux ?
Precious document! 🧡

Formidable!!!
Finally I hear correct tempos....
LA ORQUESTA MAGNIFICA ASI COMO LOS SOLISTAS, MUY DESACERTADO EL DIRECTOR DE CAMARAS, A ALGUNAS SOLISTAS JAMAS LE VIMOS EL ROSTRO.
A tout jamais inégalable. Est-ce qu'un CD pourrait être fait ?
Le rondeau à 39'26''

Yes indeed, rhythm is by far the most important element in music - not too many musicians - even professionals - realize that. I even dare say that perfect rhythm covers a multitude of sins, especially in an orchestra: 2:56
Frans just lectured them on the importance of rhythm and someone still got sloppy at 49:19 - - - (Sometimes I can be too critical.) It was a beautiful performance!!!!
39:25 Forêts paisibles
Snif. RIP Frans.
Spreek nederlands, a.u.b. Dank U.
39:25
34:10 - 38:00 "Viens, Hymen" 😘
Far too slow and not lively enough! Let the man retire and get a healthy conductor who can conduct this music with the spirit it deserves! This is a ballet, not funeral music.
We can’t see that it isn’t beautiful, but I can affirm that « Forêts Paisibles » at 39:25 is more beautiful when it’s faster.
Feliz pandemia.
@@ACardin007 it is the most suitable temp for this opus. Playing in faster temp makes it like gigue
