I don't care if it's 70s. This is God level composing, playing and recording. One of those tracks that stay with you for a lifetime. Must seek out the album.
Oh God a classic indeed! I have a Pete Moore 'Library' Album with three as I can see unreleased tracks and is a beautiful reel to reel. Utter magic just like this!
Roger Webb also provided the music for the British comedy film, Au Pair Girls (1972), where a similar rendition can be briefly heard in the Rock Stars' bedroom
This is so beautifully played ... and recorded. Listen to the separation, the inflections and volume levels and well-divided tones lol Thanks! (New Subscriber)
Some smooth space jazz with hints of Pink Floyd! Smmoooth! I'm glad that I finally found this after all these decades! But it's too short so I'll have to play it again!
Was used in an episode of The Sweeney to good effect. Jack Regan pouring a glass for his lady friend who looked lovely, but then the phone rang for him -
Hell, I remember that. I once had this on a jazz compilation album, long gone, but I couldn't remember who had recorded it. Then, years later, I heard it on that Sweeney episode and it drove me nuts trying to remember who it was. Just came across this through some other Roger Webb tracks. At last!
FUCK YES! I have been looking for this for years and I could only find it under Fly Rob Fly, which I thought was bollocks! That scene is what made me look for this tune. He is on the phone to a ponce grass with dirty fingernails and gives him a tip about a blag at a truck stop the next day. Glad I'm not the only one that remembers that scene. It was awesome. And has been used in Minder as well as a number of other tv shows.
@@jeremyveale6339 Hi.. The Sweeney episode was called Supersnout, and that scruffy grass character was called Stickley..And the Minder episode was called You Gotta Have Friends, plus the track may have been in another episode also
@@jeremyveale6339 snap. I saw that very same Sweeny episode, and thought what a fantastic track it was. I'm also quite sure it featured on a T.V advert in the 1970's, probably a cigar advert? I've not been able to find the name of the song for maybe 10-15 years. That was until I recently heard it feature twice on an episode of Minder (You Gotta Have Friends.) And thanks to the power of the internet. Here I am ;-)
windymiller7 Also reminds me of the sax part in "Us and Them" and the intro to "Shine On, You Crazy Diamond." This was released in 1972. Could it be that Roger Waters listened often to this record?

God, I want to go to sleep and wake up in the 70's.

Pink Floyd/Roger Waters were heavily influenced by this piece of music, NOT the other way round !!
Always takes me back to the 70s happy times I'd go back to in a heartbeat and stay there.
This is beautiful. Every time I hear it, I like it more.
Some one should put together a long play list of tracks from the 70's this good, I mean this is just really some thing special
The old Boddingtons advert in the early 90s
Supersnout... The Sweeney. One of the top five episodes of that great TV series from the 70’s.
I can taste that Teachers whisky.....

I can't find information on Roger Webb. Recording sessions, musicians songs. The song 'Flying objects' is not mentioned on his wiki page?
Came here from the song "Future Lounge" by Flamingosis (feat. A Sol Mechanic), because he sampled this song.

Shades of darkside of the moon..lov e ly
Also used in episode of minder ( don't ask me what one)
Lucky he only sings the theme tune.
The Minder episode was from series one and was called ''You Gotta Have Friends''
It first screened on the 21st January 1980.
Errr.... is this the inspiration for Wish You were Here - Floyd?
