Hi, I've been thinking about this question. So, I'm sorry I took a while to reply. But I wanted to do justice to this great question! There are a couple of things to consider within the Torah... Not all of the Commands are for everyone. For instance there are Commands that relate just to women. A man wouldn't obey those... Or Commands, that deal what a thief should do. Well, of course if one hasn't stolen anything, than they would not have to obey that Command. Now with the Command or a better Word Instruction of the tassels, It was specifically given to the men of the Nation of Israel. (See Numbers 15:38) Jewish Rabbis would not want gentiles to obey those Commands, because they might not do This properly. That's what they say... I believe that one has freedom in this. If a gentile wants to put on tassels to remind themselves to obey God's Word, I have no problem with It. Then comes the part as an example what the rabbis would have difficulty with. Deuteronomy 22:12 teaches us that the tassels should be on the four corners.... i.e. four tassels... That's why doing something different would cause a concern with Jewish rabbis... Now to take that even further.... If one were to obey the oral law too, then there are a bunch of instructions there, like what one should do when a person goes to the bathroom... and many other instructions... Jesus obeyed a lot of the Oral Law, but not always... Thus there were conflicts between Jesus and the Pharisees, who did obey the oral law... I'll throw this out finally... (maybe I should do another video on the tassels). Paul was a disciple of Gamaliel. That's not a small little thing. Gamaliel was the grandson of Hillel and is known as one of the biggest teachers and Rabbis in the history of Israel. It's like saying that one studies golf under Tiger Woods! It's not easy to become a disciple of Gamaliel... A disciple there must have had the entire Old Testament or Tanagh memorized. Even after his third missionary journey, he called himself a Pharisee of Pharisees.... He knew the Torah inside and out... So, now the question would be: "Why did he never in any of his Epistles tell any gentile to wear tassels??? Maybe he did, but under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, It was never recorded... But I think you have freedom here... I.e. you can wear one or all four... But if you want to be totally Torah observant, you want to wear four... (And I'm memorizing the Book of Deuteronomy right now, so I do love the Torah (Psalm 119:97,98))

...It is with great earnest, that I endeavor to walk in the ancient paths and with the three(3) references given,...I just don't see the elaborate make up of the fringe or tassel as you illustrate. Why is it so demanding that we go beyond five simple white cords and one blue? Another tradition perhaps?
Very good question. Maybe because the name of YHVH has four letters? How do they determine where to put them on a round shirt? With a Tallit is simple!
@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel I wonder as I see people "replicating " tassels for bibles, they are lovely, but to be fair, if we use them as a remembrance, should be 4 as well... Just a thought at loud. And as well, I wonder as that tassels has an specific work back in that days... is today something the bible talks as remembrance of His Instructions?
"It is to be a tzitzit for you to look at and thereby remember all of the LORD's commandments and obey them, so that you won't go around wherever your own heart and eyes lead you to [defile] yourselves, but it will help you remember and obey all My commandments and be holy for your God." Num 15:39-40 I like wearing these more than a cross. I put them on the corner of my belt loops (outer garment).
Kept going over this and keep remembering the Moabite Ruth turning and saying, “Your God will be my God and your people will be my people.” I truly believe in this transformation and have desired to become a slave to the patterns Messiah showed us. Everyone should examine themselves, for Messiah did not teach on many Torah subjects that he was already living.
@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel it's a great book. I just think it's amazing how many Christians read that book and continue to ignore that there is an entire people group today that perfectly fit the description within it. Referring to the curses listed there in Deuteronomy 28.
This was interesting. May I please make one suggestion for an edit, sir? The letter "J" was not created until 1524. When it was created by an Italian man, it carried the sound of an "I" (ee) . There is no J in Hebrew either. Where you have a "J" in God's Name there should be a "Y", representing the Hebrew letter "Yod". So God's Name in tetragrammaton form is YHWH (Yod - Hey - Waw- Hey) Pronounced closer to eey-ah-oo-ah... Or, with more of a flowing sound, Yahuah. Thank you. And yes, to agree with other commenters, the color blue as a requirement should be stressed. Blue is often associated with God's commandments, the stone tablets, etc. And this command was for all of Israel and anyone who sojourned with them. The same is true today. Those who would walk in the commandments of Yahuah need the visual reminder. I really appreciated your dive into the "wings" of the garment. Excellent work!
Thank you so much for your very gentle and kind words! You're actually right. It is Yod, not J. The video is up there for over 2 years and it's hard to edit it out. So, I made the correction in the description. I really appreciate your correction. That's how we learn.
Tassels, or tzit tzit, are said in the Bible to be blue. Not blue and white. And certainly not white. To me, any white is like adding in leaven. The blue is supposed to remind us of the floor of heaven. The floor of heaven is not said to be blue and white or white, just blue.
I love this question.... In Judaism, the color combination depends on the sect of Judaism that one follows... You might check for more detail with your local synagogue.... Probably not today.... It's the Shabbath...
@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel I am a Hebrew roots, Christian. I don’t go by traditions of men. I go strictly by the Bible. The Bible says blue. I've read it in many, many books, so I figured they were right. But I just googled it and found the list of the 613 Commandments. www.jewfaq.org/613_commandments Of course that is a list from Judaism. How would you suggest that I would check that out? Count them myself? I'm not sure what reason they would have for changing that number. But your post really intrigues me!
That's true.... But in Numbers 15:38, It says: Speak unto the children of Israel. So, the Command or Mitzvod is specifically given to the Hebrews. There are 613 Commandments in the Torah. But they don't all apply to everyone. For instance, there are commandments what to do if you have stolen something. Well, if you haven't then it wouldn't apply to you. So, at least always look at the context of the Commandment. Of course then the Gentiles are given other Commandments. See Acts 15.
@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel The "Children of Isreael that came out of Egypt was a multitude of different people that are made up of gentiles and not just Jews. The gentiles are told their minimum what they should do and it is also said that in the time of Moses they also went to his synagogs. What did they teach? Tora.
I see what you did there. More importantly, Yaweh saw what you did. Numbers 15:39 ...commandments of the LORD... Not... ...commandments of the Torah... And then you misinterpret what the Torah is as JUST the first five books. Needs to be ALL of Yah's commandments.
@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel The Almighty has shared His commandments throughout the Scripture. They are not contained in the first five books. We are commanded to keep His way. Reducing it to what Judaism thinks is "Torah" does not honor His way.
Sry sir but you who do not keep the instructions of Yahweh should not attempt to teach them. Anyone who says they have come to know Him yet does not keep His commandments is a liar and Yeshua is not in him.

@@girardedward Since the written Torah does not specify that the rest of the tassels must be white, I use a few white threads, and since people are not sure of the shade of blue, some translations even use the word "Purple" , So I use one strand of blue and one strand of purple.

...It is with great earnest, that I endeavor to walk in the ancient paths and with the three(3) references given,...I just don't see the elaborate make up of the fringe or tassel as you illustrate.
Why is it so demanding that we go beyond five simple white cords and one blue?
Another tradition perhaps?
Yes, definitely another oral law... We can only base it on what is in the written Law or the Torah.
How I can get this teaching?
Which teaching?
Read the Torah
..and why 4 tassels? 4 corners?
Very good question. Maybe because the name of YHVH has four letters? How do they determine where to put them on a round shirt? With a Tallit is simple!
@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel I wonder as I see people "replicating " tassels for bibles, they are lovely, but to be fair, if we use them as a remembrance, should be 4 as well... Just a thought at loud.
And as well, I wonder as that tassels has an specific work back in that days... is today something the bible talks as remembrance of His Instructions?
"It is to be a tzitzit for you to look at and thereby remember all of the LORD's commandments and obey them, so that you won't go around wherever your own heart and eyes lead you to [defile] yourselves, but it will help you remember and obey all My commandments and be holy for your God." Num 15:39-40
I like wearing these more than a cross. I put them on the corner of my belt loops (outer garment).
Yes, they are to be a rememberance to obey the Torah.... The Command was specifically given to the Israelites in Numbers 15:38. :-)
@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel And the sojourners who aligned themselves with Israelites (there was such a mix of culture).
*This is not a salvation issue and should not be given as a stumbling block for young believers.*
Did you read Deuteronomy 28!?
Yes, many times... As a matter of fact, we're memorizing the Book of Deuteronomy right now.... Were you referring to something specific?
So God's Name in tetragrammaton form is YHWH
(Yod - Hey - Waw- Hey)
Pronounced closer to eey-ah-oo-ah...
I don’t need some rabbi, or for that matter, any Christian pastor, to come along later and say that he knows better.
Like mainstream Christianity, modern Judaism, though really, this has been true for millennia, is constantly changing with the scriptures say.
But in the Bible, we are told not to add to or subtract from what is in there.
@@loricalass4068 = I have always thought that tassels were made of many threads, but you have an interesting interpretation which I have not seen before. So if a tassel can consist of only 1 thread than that tread would be blue. Thankyou for your comment, it is a point to ponder.
There is not 613 laws in the Torah . This is straight from Judaism . Check it out . Shalom
Shalom! I must say that I like your name! It's very Dutch. I have the same name.... And of course Cornelius in Acts 10.
I will admit that I've never personally counted them. I've read it in many, many books, so I figured they were right. But I just googled it and found the list of the 613 Commandments.
www.jewfaq.org/613_commandments
Of course that is a list from Judaism. How would you suggest that I would check that out? Count them myself? I'm not sure what reason they would have for changing that number. But your post really intrigues me!
You do not need to be a Jew to obey the laws of the Tora.
So those 613 laws are not done away with they are just not applicable as we do not have a temple or you have to be a Levi or a Priest.
Are you saying that the oral Torah is also part of the God's Revelation?
@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel
The Almighty has shared His commandments throughout the Scripture. They are not contained in the first five books. We are commanded to keep His way. Reducing it to what Judaism thinks is "Torah" does not honor His way.
Tzit tzit not tassel
Thank you, I appreciate that! I called them that in the video.
@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannelmy apologies. I didn't mean to sound like I was correcting you.
No problem. I like to be corrected, so that I correct it in my next video!
Sry sir but you who do not keep the instructions of Yahweh should not attempt to teach them. Anyone who says they have come to know Him yet does not keep His commandments is a liar and Yeshua is not in him.

@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel you handled that well. No one benefits from that sort of blustering. We can disagree like adults.
Time stamp 4:00 > That is NOT correct... There are NO "J" Letters or Sounds in Hebrew... The spelling comes out YOD HEY VAV HEY YHWH in English... "...יהוה...", And in Greek it was an IOTA, EYE OH TAH as There are NO "J" letters or sounds in Greek either... "...G2503

Mistakes like this are exactly what is wrong with The Understanding of Believers of Today, They are being misled by others who do not Know or Understand what was said... Get a Strong's Concordance, or a Thayer's... Look up the words for yourselves... Study to show yourself approved and these types of mistakes will not make you "stumble" at the WORDS... 1Pe 2:8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed..."
Ok, so you're basically saying that the YOD is "Y" not "J".... Am I understanding you correctly?
@@TheKeesBoerMinistryChannel Yes, I am... But as I mentioned "Look it up" my words mean nothing...
Unfortunately, misunderstood commentary by the authors twists understandings. Yod is the letter Y. We don't know 100% if the if there is a modification to the V to make it W or even U. The Way needs to be studied diligently. Appreciate your deep insight on this topic. I'm not saying His Name, because he told Moses not to worry about it.
